Re: The Golden Bachelorette - Joan Vassos - Episodes - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, @barbell, but glad that you can get some comfort from watching.
I just love this season and the guys are so great, even the ones I wasn't sure of to begin with (not counting Gil). The GD was fun to watch although I was sad that Mark was on the losing team. Charles L continues to be a favorite and am glad he got to talk to Guy about his wife. It's hard to see any of the guys go home but Joan was right that she had to make hard choices in order to move towards the end. The Golden Bachelorette was the one we needed after poor Jenn's season. I also enjoyed seeing some of the ladies from last season in the commercial. I didn't need to see Gerry but Joan seemed happy to talk to him.
I think there may be more interest in a Golden BIP than the regular one after the cast of the two seasons.
That's so sad if true about Chock's mom, @pavalygurl . I always thought that Joan was a favorite of Gerry's and it was hard when she left so it will be interesting if Chock leaving but coming back puts him ahead of others.

I am hoping there will be a Golden BIP! I would certainly watch that for sure! Just loving the guys who are very gracious and kind towards each other! But I do think the season is going way too fast and this quick pace can be a negative on many levels!

I think the producers give them phones to use.

They seem to be allowing a lot of different things this season, @mizzoufan. We've seen phones, Charles L and Gary shopping, and the guys getting massages. Joan also got to use the phone which also isn't usual. I guess they decided to mix things up this season.

Another day at the mansion.
OMG...do we really need to see Pascal in his tidy whities steaming his shirt?
The other guys are discussing how they feel about Joan and how they are all falling for her. Somehow I doubt that.
Trista is here for a chat with Joan. Trista has had something done. Her face looks a lot smoother from last we saw her. Same old same old. Open up. Share. Tell them how you feel.
Keith has the first date and they are off on a helicopter. They buzz the mansion. I don't see it between these two. She is too proper for him.

Wine tasting. The couple running the winery are married 32 years...just like Joan and her late husband. She mentions that and brings the mood right down.
Meanwhile back at the mansion Mark talks about his late wife to us and the other guys. I think he is realizing that he is not connecting with Joan and vise versa.
Keith is telling Joan about his ex wife who was an addict and how he had to protect his girls. They haven't spoken with his ex for over 10 years. They share a little kiss. Joan did not seem enthusiastic about it, but it's her job.

Mark gets the last date before hometowns since he is not on the bowling group date.
Pascal hasn't played before, but does very well. They are all doing well. Chock is not holding back and the others notice that he is hogging Joan. I am not a fan of his. There is something about him that bothers me. I think it is that he is acting so sure that he is right for her and clearly they barely know each other.

Mark is getting ready for his date. Apparently he hasn't dated since his wife passed away.
There is some guy bonding before Joan picks him up to go on a giant yacht.
There are crickets between Joan and Mark. They just aren't clicking. Thankfully Jesse sends them on a scavenger hunt. Things pick up a bit after this, but still. I am not feeling them as a couple. It seems as if talking about their former spouses is the easiest thing for them. He feels positive about the date, I don't think she feels the same.

Joan comes into the mansion in the morning and wants to talk to Mark...but thinks something is missing. She thinks he isn't as far along in his journey as she is. He isn't as ready. He is very sweet in his response.
Is he the first guy she has sent home other than during the RC?
He goes back to say goodbye to his boys. They are all shocked. Everyone expected him to make HTs. They all love one another. Pascal is very sad because Mark was his best friend. There are tears and hugs all around. Good set up for the next golden bachelor.
No cocktail party and we go straight to the RC. Pascal, Chock, Guy, Jordan. Keith and Jonathon are sent home.
Preview of next week and the HT dates. Somebody's kid tells Joan that he is not going to pick her!

I watched. Thought marks exit was set him up to the be the next Golden Bachelor. But I’m not convinced they will pick him. Too many better choices in my mind.
The preview is very choppy. You really need to look closely at Joan’s tops to see that it’s chopped up.

I'm annoyed that this season is too short. Maybe Joan didn't need more time with the guys but we did!
Much as I like Mark, I'm not convinced he'd make a good lead, especially after seeing their date. The lead has to be able to carry a conversation when it stalls and he certainly didn't do that. My other thing is that I listened to his interview with Jason Tartick and he wasn't good at thinking fast when answering the questions at the end. The one that made me laugh was when he picked buffet as his favorite restaurant. I'm sure that would have been a red flag for Joan.
The date with Keith seemed like a time waster because Joan was never going to pick him. The bowling date was cute or could have been if Chock wasn't hogging most of the Joan time. He would never be my choice but Joan seems comfortable with him.
From the preview, it looks like it's Pascal's daughter who said he'd never pick Joan. I hope that was out of context because it seems rude.
