Bachelorette 10: Edit-Storyline - *SPOILERS* - should we bother? Oooohhhh... why not?

Last season when I was non-spoiled I argued against the folks that insisted that Clare was F1 because even though she and JaunP had excellent physical chemistry, her entire storyline consisted of problem resolution. In nearly every episode except the second one where she had her 1on1 date, the main focus of their conversations edited on screen was problems. And this went on throughout. There never really seemed to be a resolution to them and others kept cropping up along the way. That was not an F1 storyline.

If Nikki was not F1 they would have thrown in a lot more girl drama than they did for her edit. As it is, since she and JaunP were on the outs with tptb she got some thrown at her but far less than if she was not the F1. In fact some of the scenes of "Nikki drama" were actually "Clare drama" which also featured Nikki.
Nikki got a more well rounded edit which included her being a nurse, caring which was what JaunP said he wanted as a partener. Each episode they built on that. JuanP finding things about Nikki that he "really liked   " .

My 1% issue with Josh being F1 is that he too seems to have been pigeon holed into the ex-jock who consistantly has issue resolution with the lead in almost each episode. His edit has been him being in the controversies that have cropped up along the way plus having to resolved the doubts that Andi has in almost every episode we have seen so far. This is not an F1 edit keeping the spoilers aside.

Can anyone please remind me which F1 has had conflict and issue resolution as part of their edit in almost each episode in the last 8 to 10 seasons ? Except for Vienna.

I can't think of any where the lead has had such doubts. I'm trying to remember if Ben had any doubts about Courtney, but I don't think he did. Didn't Brad question Emily, if she could get over Ricky?

The only guy without an obstacle seems to be Marcus. Chris' obstacle is "limited time" since she keeps stopping the 1 on 1s before rose ceremonies (twice in a row so far), losing his chance after the basketball game and he constantly fusses about it. Josh' obstacle is that he's another Juan Pablo. Nick's obstacle is... "me". Brian's obstacle is that he is behaving as limp as an asparagus around her.

I barely remember JPG's season   Did JPG have issues with Clare? I thought he like her.

I enjoyed reading your post nd4reality! I have a question though, what issues did Clare and Juan Pablo have to go through? For me at least, as I watched the season, I didn't really see many issues between them. It actually seemed really easy in my eyes because production really focused in on their physical chemistry. I mean, yes, there were some moments where she felt like she was falling behind the other women, but I never really saw that play a huge role.

With Andi and her supposed F2 guys Josh and Nick, she has issues to work out with both of them and it appears to be a trust issue, but for different reasons. In my mind too, we're only half way through the season. They're just giving her supposed F2 guys a large story arc. In my eyes at least it's pretty obvious that Josh and Nick are her F2. Production is showing us that. I would assume that perhaps they're showing us she has struggles with both Josh and Nick and once the end of the season roles around we're going to see her conquer those fears with both of those guys and it will be more of "will she pick her type or the guy she wouldn't usually go for" and then we'll get the happy ending.

Nick (voice-over/PI): It has been almost a week since the last group date and it has been weighing on my mind. (Both say “ciao” to the store clerk and eat in the alley way.)
(different voice-over, recorded separate) It bothered her how I approached last group date and nothing means more to me than to show her that her feedback matters to me.

Nick (voice-over) That is what it is all about for me… but I am just going to take advantage of my time with her. Not be salty. / Pigeons everywhere on top of Andi and Nick both.
Nick to Andi with the pigeon on his head: I’m like the bird man.
Nick: … and hope she keeps me around / Andi snaps a photo of the two of them, with Nick sporting the body of feathers and poopie in his hair.

One griller looks up in a questioning way as if he doesn’t believe him.
Dylan (voice-over leading to PI session): It was tougher than I expected and my heart was racing every second, so I really don’t know how it will pan out in the testing. I’d like to pull Andi aside and let her know that I definitely don’t think I will make it through the rest of the day. (Shown walking to meet Andi, then back to PI session) My stomach is twisting and turning. (He looks down.)

Marcus entire theme for this season is getting over fears for both himself and Andi from the time he stepped out of the limo she took his hands in hers and calmed him.
ep2 we have the edit showing us that she went to him and again reassured him. ep 3 he calmed her after the ruckus with craig. ep 4 was his 1on1 - big time getting over their fears together.

If you noticed, each time there is a ruckus we see a scene with Marcus and Andi. Then followed by another scene of something else. It is an editing patterns that I have noticed.
ep 3 there was the ruckus with Andrew featuring the pot stirrer JJ and the angry young man Josh. Immediately thereafter they showed a small scene of Marcus and Andi in the doorway.

ep 5 they showed the upset with both Nick and Marquel scenes and immediately after they showed the 1on1 time with Marcus and Andi.

It is not a coincidence that this theme of overcoming fears together and then (edited and strategically placed 1on1 times in the middle of drama) like some sort of oasis in her journey as a contrast to said drama.
Andi's blogs have also indicated this. Besides, so far I have seen only Marcus being referred to in the present tense in her blogs at all. It could be a typo of course. But like the rest of you keeping track of clues etc. this is safely at the back of my mind as is most of this post.

If I was unspoiled I would say that Marcus is the F1. And no, he is not hidden either. Being spoiled and on the sleuthing side is a different ball game altogether   .

^^ Me too ND. Without the post show sleuthing clues and BIP I would be convinced it's him.

nd4reality, I also would think Marcus had I been unspoiled that Chris also made top four... and for some other "stuff" in the edit ruling him out (such as her neutral commentary about him "falling in love"). One reason is because some of the recent F1s have no major obstacles as we traditionally think they would have. Nikki's only obstacle was Clare (granted, a big enough of one). Prince Siegfried's was whether or not she would move to Seattle.

nd4, if I were unspoiled I would also think Marcus as f1.

Excellent post ND!!!!        I call it being hidden in plain sight.  Andi has made very clear that Marcus is more than just the "hot" guy and that he is the "whole" package.  So Marcus is not getting the "physical" edit.
