Episode 3: This episode was… interesting, to say the least.

Marcus, JJ, Josh, Andrew and Nick were The Stars of this show and all are getting rather quirky edits. Not sure what the little devils in Fleiss’ editing department are up to.

Well, I take that back. Marcus was only slightly quirky. He was shown skeptical of Nick during his date, frequently jealous of Andi with others, but also repeating twice that no other guy has the same connection he has. Well… F1 Chris Siegfried once said that, just not twice. Are you that certain, Marcus? Even Josh is honest saying he is never sure of her other “connections” despite the fact that he received most of the slurpy-platypus-kissing this episode.

In any case, Marcus is clearly a frontrunner. Got the first rose in the ceremony and Andi’s key line “how lucky I feel”. Had I not known of the spoiled 4 and the possibility that this episode may potentially be a repeat of Ali’s episode #6 (when Roberto only clocked two minutes of screen time and no shots with Ali, making me think at the time he was not F1), I would wonder if Boys II Men were not joking when they stated Andi may not chose any of these guys at the end of this. (Well… not the ones on that date, anyway.)

Oh Nick… Nick… Nick… you are an interesting one. I haven’t seen eyeballs move around in such distraction since Jillian’s Ed back in ’09. Don’t get me wrong. Nick is quite likable in many ways. He is the one contestant who would look quite adorable on the Mickey Mouse Club with that teddy bear hair and round face. I am enjoying him on my TV screen, just not in the same way some teenyboppers watching might when he smiles those dimples.

When two guys (Marcus and a pre-drama Andrew) question your motives while you are on a great romantic date with Andi in Santa Barbara, your chances are not great that you will make it to the end… unless you are Courtney (who wasn’t all that evil really) or dramatic Vienna. Also the recycling of the same orchestra score when Sean was screaming E-m-i-l-y in the Prague streets two years ago while you are rock climbing gives the faint aroma of doomed romance. Maybe I am wrong with my “vibe” and Nick is our F1 true and true, but the editors are doing oddball things with him that make me question.

The music was all fantasy suite orchestral slush during their Viewing Tower smooching, but both his and her body language was all over the map. They were sarcastically grinning and also making out with great intensity. Never mind the fact that Marcus and Andrew call him skeptical about finding “luv”. Andi already knows that. She just wants to play Svengali and “turn” Nick into a “romantic”. Apparently it works later, since he has flowers delivered during a pre-RC cocktail meeting she is having with Eric… and much to Eric’s annoyance. She then croons that she feels a tingle and spark with him and sees 100% potential in Nick as a “believer”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfuBREMXxts

Much of the Boys II Men date felt like an audition for next Bachelor and I found it sad that Bradley the opera singer was no longer needed (i.e. cut at the next rose ceremony) once he got his “performance” in. At least the little blond girl in the audience didn’t cover her ears with him, just the others, despite how it was previewed.

Both Marcus and Josh are getting repeating themes. Marcus is always in the background, but Andi sees him in the foreground. (She said that last week too.) Josh is always nervous around her, despite being the most confident stallion in her corral. Yet he is cured… a second time… by a big wet one on the lips.

Josh is still my pick for next season simply based on how boisterous he is, singing along with Andi “I forget my words but I’m loving it!” (That song should be added to McDonald’s campaign.) I also like how Josh took charge with JJ later at RC cocktail hour, forcing Andrew to “man up”… as if he is now officially part of the Santa Barbara police force. I can only imagine what types of feisty ladies will be cast on his season, each questioning the other ladies they are suspicious of. “WE are here for the right reasons. WE just want to know if YOU are.” C-l-a-s-s-i-c, Josh. You are keeping me in stitches.

This was the episode of The Prank. Andi pulled a prank on Cody, making him think the other guys told her he had a girlfriend. JJ’s date was nothing but a prank, only the folks in the park all seemed to sense those two were simply wearing heavy make-up. I greatly enjoyed JJ’s date though. Just found him less interesting once he gained the support of Officer Josh in his war against Andrew.

Ron’s departure on account of his friend dying was obvious foreshadowing. Eric got two key face-shots during the discussion and Josh says “That could happen to any of us”. Yes, Josh… it saddens me to say you are sssssooooo perceptive.

Chris was mostly Find Waldo apart from some key scenes with Eric, supporting Dylan crying about his back story, receiving Andi’ key line “care about each and every one of y’all”… and receiving a rather sinister look from Nick at the rose ceremony. Ooooh… yeeeeaaaaahhhh… that Nick Veee is up to something-something and zeroing in on Chris as a potential victim. In the previews for tomorrow, Andi’s “strike a nerve” line is spoken over Chris, suddenly brought into focus. No clue what THAT is all about, but I have the sneaky suspicion the dude is clueless about what he’s in trouble for.

Phew! Corrected that in the nick of time before this forum exploded. I initially said Cody had a "boyfriend". Must be all of that pairing-up singalongs over the end credits that had me confuzzzzed.

It's how I'm feeling right from epi 1. I also picked up on the similarities to Ali's season, and caught the Boyz ll Men suggesting she may not choose anyone. I figured they stuck that in there to cast doubt already, in case they need it for later.

There were a few shots of Josh front and centre, with Marcus behind him, they ended the epi that way as well.

What are your thoughts on the complete absence of Andi and Chris 1on1 time, despite the fact that he didn't get a date this week.

In past seasons an f1 has always been shown to get a little bit of time with the lead even in (rare) situations where they did not get a date - I think JP in ep2 where Ash reassured him. Nothing for Chris which does not bode well for him. IMO of course but waiting to see what you think ?

The shots of Josh with Marcus in the background makes me think that they are/were the original F2 guys.

That is why I mentioned Roberto's situation above back in Andi's season. (Only a fleeting shot of him comforting Andi before she goes road-rage on Justin, but nowhere in sight in Istanbul outside PI sessions. This time, Chris is comforting... Dylan.) You never know what those sneaky little b*****ds (the editors) are up to.

I could. The show wants Chris as the next puppet, so they tell her to pick him for Final 3 so that when he's dumped he is the main focus of the Men Tell All bull crap show.

Just because RS has said so doesn't mean its true.
