Here is what I think happens.

Fleiss has to salvage his season.  Des has painted herself into a corner with her words that it is Brooks all along and she hasn't let herself even consider anyone else.  There is no way she can choose Drew, no way she can choose Chris without it looking like a total BS set up.

The handlers convince Brooks that he could at least do Des the kindness of salvaging her dignity by going along with this for a few months.  We get another Deanna/Jesse promo tour and by the time the next Bach rolls around, we get the inevitable break up stories followed quickly by a "we will always be friends" press release.

It has happened plenty of times in the past (De/Jesse, Nashville couple, etc.) and will continue to happen until this show gets cancelled.

The believers get their fairy tale ending, the non-believers get something to gossip about, and Fleiss is still laughing all the way to the bank as the internet explodes.

And Des and Brooks each get the promised minor crying part on a soap but get killed off after a week on the show.

These sources don't ever seem to have any details.  That's what makes me mad that people are getting their hopes all wrapped up in Brooks/Desiree being together.

I received confirmation this morning from a very reliable source that Brooks is the F1 and the couple is happy.
Quite sure others will be hearing same and reporting such.

Actually, it makes no difference to me who any of them pick or how long they do or don't stay together. Seriously. No snark there.
Like anyone else here, I wish people happiness and good health, blessings and strength to get through the tough times.
My own personal life is not effected by the show and I try never to involve myself to that point where it could there are too many real issues for all of us.

3 opinions I've seen mentioned in on this forum seem to jive with your predictions
- this cast seems pretty young overall compared to prior seasons (maybe TPTB trying to capture a more youthful demo viewing audience)
- this cast seems pretty inexperienced in love. Most this season either rush into love all by themselves (in love with love, rather than with Des), or they have not-yet-evolved ideas of what love looks like, or have never had reciprocated love, or have never been in love at all, or last time they were in love was many years ago, or just lonely and looking for someone.
- all the early proclamations of love (has any lead had 3 ILYs by HTDs?) may have been a competitive ploy to divert the lead's attn, which was obviously on Brooks.

It makes absolutely no sense that brooks is final 1. Coming monday night everyone is going to feel duped .

I don't think it makes sense either! Did you guys not read what I wrote above about CH's comments in recent interview....how do you explain those comments??

It might not make sense that brooks is final 1 but it would make even less sense if Chris or Drew were. The only guy she wants is brooks. Period.

Theories?  I still don't get what happened from Brooks HTD with him saying he didn't want her to leave to the non-FD with him waying he's leaving!  

That is easily explained and CH said it best - Brooks is wishy washy. He changes his mind constantly and worse he needs help in doing so. It is not surprising that from HTD to FD to FRC he has changed it multiple times.

What I don't get is how the apparently decisive Des who goes in and out of Costco with her list in hand and out with her purchases will gel with a guy like this. That is the bigger mystery than them falling in love in the bachelor bubble.
