I think this is why he and Cat live separately as it would be very hard to resist the temptation if they lived in the same house.
I have read some testimonies from other Christians who have waited to have sex until they were married and they were glad they waited because God blessed them for it.
We believe that God only intended sex to be enjoyed within a marriage relationship. I know that this is a very foreign concept in this society but that is what we believe.
My problem with Sean being celibate simply due to his strong Christian beliefs, is that IMO a person with convictions that strong wouldn't be caught dead going on the Bach in the first place, let alone being a lead on a show that has the reputation of being raunchy. I've always maintained that he kissed girls like he was enduring it, and not enjoying it, so I have no problem with the concept that he has homosexual tendencies.
Have to admit that when he did a Village People song on DWTS, my first thought was that it was fitting
JMO ...Sean is not Gay !!!!!!!! Shay signed him up for this show first of all and then he was asked to do the Bachelor and most single guys I know would jump at the chance. He kept it clean as much as he could but he also had to go through the motions to find Catherine. Just because he is Christian does not mean that he is not allowed to have fun and enjoy the same things other guys do. He has choosen to wait to be married before he has sex again and I do not see anything wrong with that. Why was this season the most watched and he is the best bachelor that has come on this show from public opinion? Because he does have morals and it showed how he treated the woman on there.

Sean's season was not the most watched, it was actually one of the lower rated out of all of the Bachelor seasons.

From what I read Sean's ratings helped to them up from the last couple of seasons. I think they believe he's invigorated the show which had been sliding. I doubt they'll ever come anywhere near those in the early seasons just like Idol and other aging reality shows.
Obviously everyone has the right to their opinion but think it's sad that gay is being thrown around in relation to Sean being celebate. Haven't we come further in this day & age?
NV, lots of Christians have done the show. I don't see why Sean should be any different. It's about what you do and not how others perceive the show.

With Brooke.. he said he should not have let her give herself to him. That to me means they had sex. You don't need to feel guilty over just dating someone for 3 years when you are young. It was more than that IMO.
Was this in an interview? Do you have a link? Would love to read the article.
I've always read that he said he has been celibate since college.
I've read he's been celibate since college too. On the question of Brooke, it was reported in US Weekly that they never had sex, using "a Lowe pal" as a source. So no direct quotes from Sean or Brooke on that one. They do have a quote from his other ex-girlfriend Ryan Ray saying his relationship with her was pure. Here's the page from the US article (the full article is in the archives - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

This will be my last post on this particular subject, but I want to make it clear that I never said that I thought that Sean was gay per se, maybe I didn't make myself clear. I just don't think that Sean is all that into girls, and so maybe he's "confused" or trying to fight it due to his religious beliefs, I have no clue.... all I'm saying is that I feel that something is off about this season and how Sean is with girls. I get the whole Christian no pre-marital sex, and I applaud those that can do it, and I actually believe in it myself as I know the Bible's teaching about the subject. Like I said, something doesn't sit right with me about this whole season.... don't know what it is, but my gut says that this relationship isn't going to end in marriage.

New poster and great topic.
I never thought of him that way before in Emily's season. But the more I see him especially when he is dancing I just can't shake the feeling.
The YMCA number is the producers' way of making fun of him because straight men do not dance to village people. Ultimate reason to have your mancard revoked.
A lot of men may not be interested in sex or thinking women that way, but that doesn't mean they're gay.
They are just probably asexual. I saw Catherine's facebook and she liked the book "Why Sex is Fun (Evolution of Human Sexuality" and that would be
a disaster if she marries someone who is asexual. I get the christian conviction but at this day and age a lot of men who have 'tendencies' use this reason
to excuse themselves from any female intimate contact. He is celibate for 10 years and his sexuality has been dormant for that long. He has never
cherished a woman before Catherine or before this show. It's for me a red flag.
(I believe I am posting in the objective thread and not the fan thread right?)

Re: The Bachelor 17 - General Discussion - Thread #1
I agree with you Northernviewer. Watching him with women is very uncomfortable and awkward, and the fact that he has said he has never been in love before this is bizarre to me. But I wouldn't call him gay either....just not interested. Honestly, I don't see that kind of spark with Catherine either, just sweet affection.
Maybe it has something to do with all the bulking up he does with his body. I have heard that many men who do this lose their sex drive.
But I think they will probably get married since there does not seem to be much time for reflection and things are just steamrolling ahead. Hopefully they will end up being suited for each other anyway and we won't have a bitter end in a couple of years.

The ratings have gone up mostly in the younger age range 18-35 yrs. That's because Sean has this All-American, boy next door look. And because of the way TPTB edited the show. TPTB made sure they showed Sean's abs every episode. That'll get the young ladies excited. I don't think the college girls who had Bachelor viewing parties were watching because Sean is a religious guy... they were watching to see the cute boy with the 6 pack abs.

I've never watched the Bachelor until now but i agree with you there is something suspect about Sean's behaviour, i.e. his openly strong Christian beliefs yet going on this particular reality show; his awkwardness kissing women among other things. However, unlike you I believe a marriage WILL happen because Sean cares first and foremost about his image and reputation and to prove detractors and naysayers wrong.
