Sean Lowe brings ‘total star power’ to reality shows, insider says

By Bill Zwecker March 13, 2013 11:42PM Chicago Sun Times.

One of the key reasons “The Bachelor” star Sean Lowe was tapped for the new season of “Dancing With the Stars” is that the fitness instructor/insurance agent is considered a good candidate for a serious career in the entertainment biz.

“The guy has total star power, and all the research points to him really connecting with a young female audience in a major way. And he also is liked by guys, too,” said a veteran “DWTS” insider. “He will likely continue to be involved with reality programming — probably in a hosting role — for some time to come.”

Though Lowe has said he did not go on “The Bachelor” to gain fame — and in fact dislikes all the attention — I’m told that’s a lot of hooey. “Sean revels in being the center of attention. He totally eats it up,” said a source from “The Bachelor.”

I guess last summer's tweet about selling your soul makes a bit more sense. They totally molded and created him for bigger things. Suddenly he wasnt an insurance salesman, but co-owned a new company. Suddenly he moved into a different, and fabulous apartment. It was the Hollywood machine - manufacturing a new product. I wonder how far he will go and what he will be hosting after DWTS. Mario Lopez - watch out!
Cat's comments about looking for work in LA make more sense . Shay's deafening silence makes more sense. Pieces are starting to fit together better in my opinion.

Tigertiz, thanks for bringing this over. It surprises me mainly because I don't see Sean's personality melding with the role of host - I can definitely see Arie doing something like that with his quick quips but not Sean.

Dear God, I couldn't stomach Arie as a host. If that means Sean has to go looking for fame, the sacrificial lamb if you will, then so be it! giggling

I don't really care too much what Sean chooses to do with is life or what he said before filming started. This happens every season with the lead or F1. Just like it did with Emily. Wash, rinse, repeat. Bring on Des. giggling

Nice to see the truth starting to come forward Hugesmile

Sean did the show to further his 15mins from the Bach'ette and try to break into the entertainment industry. If he truly wanted to find a wife, he'd have gone to a church social. I don't see him ever marrying Cat, he'll eventually marry a girl that his sister picks out for him... so it'll all be good someday in Cleaverville.

Sean has the personality of a dishrag, so Mario Lopez can rest easy on his job security 👅

Sean may be well-liked, but I don't know if he would make a good host. It's interesting regardless. Who knows, maybe he'll end up doing something like this. If I does, I kinda hope it's in the sports arena because that's about the only way I'll be watching.

^^^Thanks for posting. I love seeing the Market Research - Q score side of things and how it drives decision making. No surprise to see that he has marketability.

I can't blame a person for pursuing fame and fortune if the opportunity presents itself, it's the attitude that he's above it that's such a turnoff for me when it's as plain as day that's what he is doing. Selling himself as the guy "who just wants a simple Christian life in TX" doesn't cut it anymore after 3 TV shows and he should just stop saying it if he doesn't want to eventually be perceived as a phony.

Intentional or not, he positioned himself on a religious platform to get these gigs. Watching this component get pushed into the background because it makes him less marketable as well as his choices on TB have been a big surprise to me. Actions speak louder than the scripted PR words he spouts off so easily now.

I see both of them as riding the fame wave where ever it takes them which is one of the reasons that I see red flags. The edit of the season and some of CH's commentary makes more sense to me now. He seems very caught up in the moment. I feel like I'm watching a more PR savvy, prettier version of DeAnna and Jesse.

I dont see it either -but I guess they think he can be trained and can learn how to do it. I think Hollywood will use him up quickly. How many times can he pull up his shirt? But you never know. Maybe they think he is as dynamic as Travis Stork. Ha. I find Travis to be wooden and I cant stand his show. But that guy is still on tv, so clearly I'm not in the mainstream.

I would love Arie to be on tv in some sort of auto related show - like a tv version of Car Talk. He would be both hysterical and informative. I want him to help people shop for cars, or solve mysterious car noises. He would be terrific doing that in the off racing season.

The folks who have a real career and use their higher profile to take that to tv seem to do really well (Jillian, Travis Stork, Jesse Palmer etc.) Actually- Ali and Melissa have done well too. Also, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who was on Survivor. OK - I guess I'll correct myself. Some of these reality tv personalities launch successful careers even without having a specific prior career that they can use in their tv career.

I never would see Sean as able to carry hosting duties. I think he is a basically good guy who doesn't mind being the center of attention at times. I do think these two may have a chance but heck, he was a fitness model afterall and those without egos do not necessarily go into that line of work.

I knew ABC will treat him like the goose that lay the golden eggs after I learned about the DWTS bit, and the offers will not stop after this.

I myself am surprised that he has this charisma from women across the board, from the very young to the very old. My in laws, sisters in law were taken by him just by his image and his likability. And they never cared about The Bachelor before this.

He is also very well spoken, which is actually a surprise for me. I really think he can be a good political candidate too. Because he says this most common stock phrases and cliche and he can sell them because part of him believes it. I really can see him doing hosting duties or being a commentator. His voice is very appealing and he is very likable.

And here's the rub, he is likable because of his so called "sincerity" but if he embraced the public life as he inevitably will, that sincerity will be questioned and he will be raked by the coals for it. The way he will justify this (embracing the public life) by saying this is a platform for him to share his faith etc.

I think Sean hasn't reconciled with that part of him that likes the limelight. He didn't aggressively looked for fame afterall, it fell on his lap. He is one of those guys who has the x factor and its hard for TBTP not to exploit it. Him being remembered for that proposal is the bonus.

Now I know why I liked Ashley/JP so much! This culture focuses WAY too much on fame. I wish Ashley's dedication to her job and studies were appreciated as much, but oh, well.

I want to see Sean and Catherine on Amazing Race, if there's a chance. They look like they're both competitive and active people. Also, I'd like to get a glimpse of how they work under pressure and how they deal with different challenges.
