I think when the wedding is televised, everyone will see Sean's family embracing Catherine like their own, and that will be the end of the speculation.

I'm opting to remain positive, because that family was so loving and sweet to Catherine, and that article does not sound like them at all. They are a devout Christian family, and they wouldn't judge her based on her familiy's past.

Mother knows best, or does she? Sean Lowe proposed to Catherine Giudici but his parents were hoping it would be Lindsay Yenter who would get the ring! According to a shocking new report Jay and Sherry Lowe were “upset” that Sean did not pick the Missouri sweetheart, because they don’t like that Catherine did not have a “stable” upbringing. And the worst? They still think Sean might end up with Lindsay!

I was making dissertation like posts (and those were unpopular posts) about their differences in their family background a while back and how (most) conservative families don't like welcoming people who are not sharing their beliefs into the fold

If this is true, I understand now why Sean is super confused up to the last minute. Its not that, he is in love with two women, its just that the family is not really sold on Catherine, and it breaks his heart to go against the family's wishes. Wow if its not true love, I don't know what is.

I am really curious now if the family will come around or if there's truth to it.

have u guys seen this? now, i am a massive fan of sean and catherine but even i can't help but feel that there is an inkling of truth to this. even if their source is star magazine.

No need to hide under a chair, deel! I try to stay analytical, so here's what I'd say:
- The article mentions the source once, calling them "a source" and never mentions the source again. Usually some one is mentioned by name or at least by relation (like "brother of Sean" or "friend of Catherine") if there really was a credible source.
- This couple hasn't had any bad press written about them the past 4 mos, so the rags are looking for ways to make money off this couple. Most past bach couples have plenty written about them, often times even before ATFR (emiily-jeff-arie and ben-courtney, even ashley-ben-jp come to mind).
- Given the course of this season - Sean's last minute decision, Lindsay's similar bg to his own family, Cat's differing bg to his own, his parents being ministers - this is a very logical and believable story.

So I'm chalking this up as a fake. The conjecture is reasonable, but they have no credible source.

If, and I emphasize if, there is any truth to this story, I don't think the Lowes would be put off by Catherine's family background.

IMO, their bigger concern would be in the maturity of Catherine's faith. She admits to being a new and seeking believer. There is nothing wrong with that per se, but based on my background, I can see where that would be a concern for many parents in their situation.

I am not going to elaborate as to why because that would take the discussion down a more "religious" road and people asked last Fall for these discussions not to go there.

I just wanted to point out why I think the Lowes could be struggling with Sean's decision, if at all.

I want to see Sean and Catherine on Amazing Race, if there's a chance. They look like they're both competitive and active people. Also, I'd like to get a glimpse of how they work under pressure and how they deal with different challenges.

That website has always favoured Lindsay over Catherine. It sounds more like their opinions than facts. Hopefully Cat won't be affected by this!

I don't believe it.

I'm going to quote Sean's Dad on meeting Cat " If it's you that Sean ends up marrying you will never have a bigger fan than me. And that's the truth, okay. I'll love you like my daughter (very emotional saying it) and there's no holding that back. And I'll support you. We'll it's true. And I just met you. I think that's what's cool about it. And I just met you, sometimes you just know."

When I first watched this I wondered why he said these things to Catherine. I thought it was a bit odd. But then I heard that they have been praying for a wife for Sean since he was born. So I figured there must have been some kind of recognition on Sean's Dad's part that Cat was the wife they have been praying for Sean. Or maybe Sean told his Dad that Cat was the one. Just speculating. Sean's Dad was very emotional talking to Cat. Here's the youtube video on that meeting.

Sean's dad was equally nice to each of them. It's pretty clear that the family is not thrilled. Oh, is this where I can express my opinion?

From just watching the show, I feel like Sean's mom may have liked Lindsay better just because she hugged Lindsay after their talk (she didn't hug Catherine I don't think) and then what she said about Lindsay afterwards. So I wouldn't be surprised if the family really did like Lindsay a little better in Thailand. But I really don't think the family disapproves of Catherine like the article made it sound. I watched an interview with Sean and Catherine, where Sean said (very sincerely, in my opinion) that his family loves Catherine, fully supports their relationship and can't wait till she joins their family.

I should calm down now. I'll take SeanCat's word that both families are happy for them! And also I read in an interview where Sean called his mom right after the engagement and Mom was very happy him!

Thanks ann3 ... I love that video too. They both just come across as so very sweet, low key and genuine. They are not hamming it up for cameras or being overly dramatic or gushing like preteens.
