It sounds like he might have a story to share with young men that would listen. From other things Sean's said, I'm concluding he regrets taking someone's v...y without eventually marrying. seems like he's said "he was irresponsible about ... ." Probably a nice gal that intended only to be with her future husband. If my assumption is right, it's nice to know a fellow would think that way and try to do something about it.

Thanks Umngirl!

The reason I asked is that I can only imagine how hard it is for him to make this choice. This to me is a testimony to his faith and convictions. Cat will be very blessed to be married to someone like him. A man that believes in the Biblical Principles for living one's life. I see men like that at my Church. Godly men who love and honor their wives and family.

And one day I turned around and looked back and saw that each step I’d taken was a choice, to go left, to go right, to go forward or even to not go at all. Every day every man has a choice between right and wrong, between love and hate, and sometimes between life and death and the sum of those choices becomes your life-Jamie Fraser

I agree that Shay's silence is curious especially since she has been so vocal for so long about Sean's relationships. In 2008 when Sean was dating Brooke Sorenson Shay blogged:

Note to my brother Sean Lowe...if you don't marry this girl, we are going to kill you. She is WONDERFUL!

Of course we now know that Sean could never see Brooke as his wife and ultimately broke it off with her, so while Shay has been vocal about who she thinks Sean should be with, historically Sean doesn't follow Shay's advice or share her opinions. I think regardless of what Shay thinks and whether she approves or not it doesn't really matter to Sean; Sean is going to do what he thinks is right for him and not what Shay thinks is right for him.

I agree about Shay. Question, why Sean could not marry Brooke?

From Sean's own words he was never really in love with Brooke.

Who is Brooke? I didn't know much about Sean up till a month ago. How many relationships has he had prior to becoming Bachelor and how long? Thanks!

He dated Brooke for around 3 years. I've seen pictures of them on Shay's blog from 2008-2009. His last relationship before going on the Bachelorette was with Ryan Ray. Not sure how long that relationship lasted but there is a picture of them together on Shay's blog as well. Both girls were Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Those are his two past relationships that are most well documented. There are probably more from his college and high school years we don't know about.

Thanks Umngirl! Did he ever say how long he's been celibate? asking for TMI but I'm curious.

I think it was after Brooke, so 3-4 years ago? He said he regretted dating Brooke for that long and "letting her give herself to him" and then not marrying her.

You know, he really doesn't discuss his sex life in detail except that it is a decision he made in his twenties. He may have actually been celibate when he was with Brooke- when Sean speaks about her it is in the context of marriage- that he wasn't at a place in his life that he was going to get married, he didn't see marrying her AND she had made it clear that she wanted to be married (presumably to him).

She and Sean remain friendly to one another. Brooke is married to the professional baseball player, Laynce Nix, who was, at the time, a member of the Texas Rangers. I believe he knows Sean, too.

Off topic.. My sister married someone who was in the closet, they have kids when he 'came out' My sister married someone who was very religious and wasn't interested in sex at all.

I'm not gonna tell my kids (I have 2 girls still babies) to go on have sex before marriage, but I want them to make sure of someone's sexuality before they get married.

My impression - which doesn't really come from anything Sean has said - is that Sean decided to be celibate until marriage shortly after college; that he felt he was living his life selfishly and decided that was not right for him. I think there's enough teachings in the Bible to justify his decision if he wants to live his life as the Bible teaches. I am also of the opinion that he was celibate with Brooke - as I recall my wife found out that Brooke had said that. He did say on the show that she was a great girl (though never mentioned her name - we sleuthed that from other sources) but that she wanted marriage and he didn't see her as his wife and it wasn't fair to her to tie her up in a relationship that wasn't headed where she wanted to go.

clapping! I have to agree with you. In these days, I think it's a little strange that someone would date a girl 3 years and never have sex. I know Sean's faith is strong, but what about his sex drive? Is it that weak? I would truly HATE to find out that Cat was left unfulfilled in that area of their lives( not that we would ever know about it) She is just so full of life and I find it a little unfair to her to have to wait. I know, it's her choice, but I'm just looking out for a sista, but the way I understood Sean say about Brooke was they did have sex and he was sorry he let her give herself to him knowing he wasn't in love with her. I could be wrong as that's happened before in my life. ; ).. giggling Hugesmile I just want them to work out so badly because I feel like they truly love each other and I don't want to see either one of them get hurt.

I read in a few places that Sean decided to become celibate after college. It is admirable that he has been able to withhold his urges for 8-9 years through 2 serious relationships hence the "gay" comment.

Really hope this is not the case and that he is just a very mentally strong guy. LoL!

Wow he would really be drug through the media if it came out he was gay after all this time. If he is there's nothing wrong with that, but he needs to be honest with himself and those around him. Maybe that's why he is so strange with his kissing? Just saying. : )

I love this couple and think he's a gorgeous man inside and out. However, I've re-watched many of the episodes again and noticed that his hands were very awkward when kissing the women (clenched fist, not totally embracing the women, etc.). Hence, maybe this was why Arie needed to give him a tutorial early on.

It could be nothing and I really hope it was just his kissing style and not anything else.

His kissing is awkward to watch. But it's probably more awkward for him. I think he holds back because he doesn't want to get in a real state of arousal. Hence, the clenched fists, and stilted posture. Thankfully at least, his kisses aren't sloppy wet ones. Lol! giggling

Sad thing is that if he's gay (and I'm not saying he is) his beliefs would never allow him to live that life. He believes in a literal interpretation of the bible. No way... would he go that route. He seemed a little hot and heavy with Lindsay on the FSD, when they were sitting on the beach. He said something like.. you know what I mean? Lindsay... oh yay.. I know what you mean.
