he's just living how many people did until ~60 years ago when they waited until marriage before having sex. that is why couples got married pretty quickly back then and why christian couples today don't usually wait too long either. he's not gay. he's just trying to be a faithful christian because that is what the bible teaches. he has said his faith is more important to him than anything else.

This makes sense how his belief would keep him from entertaining gay thoughts. It's just that whole fitness and topless thing that made me think. What I don't understand is why didn't he break up with Brooke earlier than be in the relationship for 3 years. Didn't she think his behavior was odd?

Maybe he is just not a passionate or emotional person. Even if he is too religious to have sex, he was never in love outside the Bachelor experience. At 29 years of age he was never in love until The Bachelorette. (In his own words, he was not in love but loved her (the ex gf.)

He said he was in love with Emily. So is Emily his first love?

I still think he will get married. Maybe he has very low libido and not interested to really fall in love when he was younger.

It would be better if we have a male point of view.

Maybe they did have sex and that's why she stuck around giggling Is their a timeline of his previous relationships? Interesting 3 years and did not marry her. And with Cat, in a short time he proposed and seem very certain she is the one.

Well, when you know, you know. Cat's meant to be with him and that's why he is certain. I have been in a relationship similar to Sean's. My ex and I dated for three years and I honestly didn't feel like I was in love with him like he was in love with me.

I think it's really odd that he said he had never been in love too!

With Brooke.. he said he should not have let her give herself to him. That to me means they had sex. You don't need to feel guilty over just dating someone for 3 years when you are young. It was more than that IMO.

Sorry that my example is Lindsay and not Cat.. but this is the only moment in the show where I thought he was turned on. He was either hiding any passion from the camera or there was none??? Go to the 1:50 mark. Maybe the scene with Catherine in the thunderstorm, but I was kind of grossed out with that scene.

^I'm going say there are other examples I can think of, mainly with Catherine. I still think no matter how used to the cameras Sean was, he is much more comfortable off camera and in private moments we don't see. JMO.

And I know several people who have been in longer relationships and are around Sean's age that have really never been in love til they met their significant other. It's not totally uncommon to me

Are the people you're talking about waiting for marriage also? I have to say it would take a strong man to date somebody that long and not have sex, Esp with times the way they are now and kids not being able to wait until they're grown to have it.

I think that it's a mistake to stereotype all men as seeking intimacy with every woman who is willing, or to assume that any man who doesn't seek intimacy doesn't have a sex drive or is gay. Certainly there are men who are like that; you can usually tell which ones they are because they're the ones who cheat on their wives.

My sister's experience have certainly thwarted my view maybe, stereotype or not, my brother in law cheated with another man after 4 years of marriage, he never cheated when they were dating, cause he was never interested in sex with a woman.

It's off topic though so its not related to our discussion about Sean and Catherine.

It's a very common thing and a stereotype is such because that's what the usual explanation for someone who has very low sex drive.

Tom Cruise for instance, he was very religious (Scientology) but his ex wives say that he was never interested in sex and just show passion (with ex wives) when there are cameras. But he certainly didn't want the sex with the women he was involved with as told by Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman.

------------

A man given an opportunity to be intimate with a woman he loves, will almost always jump on the opportunity. That is the orig question I was posing for someone like Lucas. Is it possible to resist it? (Thailand, secret meetings etc) However, maybe the answer is yes, if he is not into it for religious reasons.
