Are the people you're talking about waiting for marriage also? I have to say it would take a strong man to date somebody that long and not have sex, Esp with times the way they are now and kids not being able to wait until they're grown to have it.

In a word, yes. One was in a 5 year relationship and another one in a 4 year relationship. All these people were either waiting til marriage or had made the same decision as Sean to wait after not previously.

I know that for Secular people (not Christian) it is very hard to understand his stance on premarital sex but in Christian circles it is not so foreign a concept. I am a born again Christian so I understand his faith a little bit. We believe that when we obey and honor God's word that he will enable us to do it.

I think this is why he and Cat live separately as it would be very hard to resist the temptation if they lived in the same house.

I have read some testimonies from other Christians who have waited to have sex until they were married and they were glad they waited because God blessed them for it.

We believe that God only intended sex to be enjoyed within a marriage relationship. I know that this is a very foreign concept in this society but that is what we believe.

I have sons who are 23 and 25 (around the age when Sean was with Brooke). They know they don't want to get married now or in the near future, because like Sean, they want to get established in their lives first. I think Sean liked having a girlfriend, but didn't want to get married- and she did. Simple as that. And yes, having heard his interview with Priscilla Shirer (you can find his first one on youtube .... not sure his second on is playing anymore on her "chat") Sean does find it challenging to not have sex with someone he's attracted to, and he absolutely knows to avoid certain behaviors which will make it all but impossible to continue on. He has admitted in several interviews that celibacy is hard. But he is committed to it.... until marriage.

IDK ... maybe this all just proves my point that the relationship isn't as healthy as they are making it out to be. I don't think Sean is gay ... but I do think he cares about his image therefore caring about whatever marketable qualities he might have. If the celibate thing sells, then that is what he's going to go with (or at least his agents or telling him to do so). I can't blame him for the man that he is. IMO he wants $$$ (who doesn't) and his celibacy is what's making the headlines. Whether or not Cat's aware how the tabloids work is still a mystery to me. However, she is still willing to show up to support him at DWTS - for the opportunity... for the $$$, right?

I was such a hater during the whole Jason and Molly and Melissa fiasco, but they went back to normal life, preserved, did the long distance, for over a year and eventually got married. JP and Ashley left their busy life in NY to settle down and compromise in Princeton - and then got married. For Sean and Cat to be proclaiming their love and their wedding aspirations to the world after a few weeks in the Hollywood spotlight is silly to me.

One thing he said in that Priscilla interview is he thinks women should dress modesty so as to hold each other accountable and not be so tempting. Then the next day, I saw Cat in that bandage red/pink dress on DWTS. hmmm? She does show a lot of cleavage!

That's double standard though cause he sure is not dressing modestly, since he likes to strip evertime he gets the chance. I kid you grace, you know how much I like seeing you here.

But seriously doesnt the bible say something about not lusting in your head, 'whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery'.. but he is
causing married women to lust with all these stripping and showing muscles. But I guess it only applies for women? Just throwing it out there. If he expects
Catherine to dress modestly, he should show a good example.

My ex-boyfriend and I had been in an physically intimate relationship for a couple of months before we both gave our lives. We continued being intimate but got to a point, some months later, where he made a decision to abstain until marraige and I was totally on board with this. We stumbled a couple of times, but as our faith grew, we became more and more convicted that what we were doing was wrong. This was far from easy, but with a lot of adjustments and joint EFFORT, we made it work. There is an intimacy that is formed when sex is out of the picture that I can't put into words. It was beautiful! The relationship didn't end in marriage but I have been abstaining for over five years and I thank God for grace.

We are living this life because we believe it to be the truth and there is no alternative! So, to Sean and anyone else waiting until marriage, more grease to your elbow.

IDK ... maybe this all just proves my point that the relationship isn't as healthy as they are making it out to be. I don't think Sean is gay ... but I do think he cares about his image therefore caring about whatever marketable qualities he might have. If the celibate thing sells, then that is what he's going to go with (or at least his agents or telling him to do so). I can't blame him for the man that he is. IMO he wants $$$ (who doesn't) and his celibacy is what's making the headlines. Whether or not Cat's aware how the tabloids work is still a mystery to me. I also find it odd. Especially since they (supposedly) haven't done the deed so many apparently find dirty. I guess I just don't get why watch this show when the premise is that the lead will sleep (have sex) with 3 different contestants, if not more, before the end. Please explain to me why someone who finds that sinful would watch the show in the first place?

I feel like I am being proselytized to and that's very disturbing. :shocked!: :Smiley:

I totally respect and admire anybody be it male or female that can do this and I think if your faith is strong enough it's possible to do.

I guess I have never felt like the lead HAD to sleep with anyone.....and could you point out the many post on here that leads you to say so MANY think it's dirty coz damn if I must not be needing to go back to school coz I sure haven't seen those. Oh and BTW I think sex is right up there with sliced bread and a chocolate sundae....; )

common misconception that people assume those of us who consider sex something to be shared in a marriage only also consider it 'dirty' or something to be avoided. Just the opposite!! That's kind of the point: sex leads to probably the two most awesome gifts the Good Lord could devise as a way to show love for his people by them being able to show love for each other: a means to bring forth children, and sharing The BIG 'O'
The point, from a Christian perspective, is not to abuse the gift. And I don't mean only have sex when you can have children.... That's not the idea. It's all about preserving it for within a marriage. And I'm Catholic so this is by no means purely an Evangelical concept
