As to Cat's family, was just curious. You'd think that if a family member was dating a guy on tv, which is already quite public, and then he's on a very popular dancing show, human nature tells me that her family would be talking it up. Somethings fishy to me.
Her family would be talking it up on social media? Why? How do you know they're not talking it up amongst themselves, in private, without the need to justify it on social media? Especially since no one's been able to find their accounts (but if someone has, hey, let us know!).
Cat's best friend is on social media. She spent time with sean/cat last week, and she's didn't whore their relationship out. Cat's dad sometimes comments on videos/articles. He says sweet things about Cat/Sean. Would that make you feel more encouraged?
Sean and Cat are, so I don't think they'd mind if family and friends did too... you know, for votes

How are they whoring their relationship out? They don't post very many photos of one another (weren't Jef/Emily knocked for posting a lot of photos of each other? Heard someone say "5 times a day!") and they don't profess their love for each other, excessively on social media either. Not sure what i'm missing...
Edit: Or, maybe they would mind and that's why their family and friends haven't said much via social media.

Catherine's mother teaches school - special education, I believe. Most teachers will not take a day off unless they are ill because they know that consistency and continuity- particularly in special ed - are really important for their students. Catherine's mom, I believe, has been in this role for many years. I don't think she'd take a couple (actually probably 3 if she attended two shows and then needed a day to return to Seattle) to go to DWTS. If there ended up being a holiday or something, perhaps she can plan to come.
Or... perhaps she HAS come but really desires to stay private so we haven't seen any evidence of her.

True that Shay has no other choice than to welcome Cat into the family. I must be kinda different than most women, as I encouraged my husband to see his family and would never try to keep him from it or limit his time, but I know what you mean, Albean. : )
I don't mean to imply that all women keep their husbands/bf's from seeing their families. I certainly didn't but it happens from what I hear. I know people who never see their sons and/or grandchildren. I'm also not saying that Catherine would be like that and don't see her standing between Sean & his family.
Oh Sweetie, I didn't think you were. I think most of us know a couple of girls/women that "hate" their in-laws and that's always made me sad. I had wonderful in-laws and still miss them dearly. I don't see Cat as being one of "those" girls either.

Re: The Bachelor 17 - General Discussion - Thread #1
Quick question for everyone:
I recently read that Sean said he sort of knew the One was going into the last week in Thailand. Hence, does anyone know the order of events that last week leading to FRC? I'm trying to pinpoint in my mind when he knew the person he wanted to propose and I'm hoping that it was towards the beginning and not the end of that week.
Is it:
Day 1: Date w/Lindsay
Day 2: Date w/ Ashlee
Day 3: Date w/Catherine
Day 4: F3 Rose Ceremony Elimination
Day 5: F2 Visit w/Sean's Family
Day 6: Final Date w/Lindsay
Day 7: Final Date w/Catherine
Day 8: FRC & Proposal
Also, how many days gap were there between HTD and arriving in Thailand because they all said they missed each other since HTD.
Thanks, everyone.

I tend to agree with your assessment of who controls the relationship once a son marries. And that is not always the case, but typically men are less, shall we say, involved in planning and following through when it comes to family gatherings. Fortunately for me, my only child, who happens to be a son, married well, but I also had to learn the hard way when to keep my opinions to myself - especially earlier on, when it came to an ex-girlfriend of my son's. It is always better to take the high road.
But, I can see why people are wondering why Shay has been so quiet about Catherine and Sean, since it does seem in stark contrast to how she was prior to the airing of the finale.

I agree! I think both families are choosing to keep their feelings, insights, comments to themselves - about SeanCat relationship. The family can be and have been vocal and rejoiced in their own child/sibling as they chose because they have done that all their lives. I saw support from the family/friends for the "relationship" because Sean's family/friends and Cat's sister/best friend visited them these last few weeks. Maybe Cat's mom can't visit because Cat's grandma can't travel anymore (there may be extenuating circumstances that prevents some family members to pack and go, or perhaps a GAG ORDER from SeanCat). It does not mean they are not supportive of the relationship. Let's just give them some space shall we? It's great that the couple are sharing their relationship with us. Why do we need their families do the same thing? Whether we are believing an illusion is par for the course, we chose to "follow" their relationship, let's not bully them to showing us more for us to "TRULY" believe. Let's be content with what we have, the wedding will come soon enough!
Need to do something productive and stop hanging out in this forum (after Nick's season)

So agree....we only know what is presented to us...the rest is speculation which causes us to go nuts...lol
We do need to give them space to see how this plays out.

One thing especially nice about a televised wedding - we should get to see lots of the family - definitely more than we would if it was private. So guess we all hope for an early wedding!

Shay's conspicuous silence, to me says she either doesn't like her or thinks the relationship is a sham, but am curious if her family seems to be acting the same way about the relationship.
Forgive me that I have spent little to no time reading up on these two as I see this relationship about as genuine as Jake and Vienna's. What I think is Sean's parents and probably even Cat's are just letting it all play out. Their children are adults who can make their own choices and all they can do is either be supportive (Sean's parents) or silent (Cat's family). However, as far as Shay goes, she's been nothing but borderline intrusive during this whole thing (eg. showing up during the whole Tierrable debacle) . I agree, that her silence is suspect.
If I'm wrong, I'll be having the crow at the SeanCat wedding. :P

I agree that Shay's silence is curious especially since she has been so vocal for so long about Sean's relationships. In 2008 when Sean was dating Brooke Sorenson Shay blogged:
Note to my brother Sean Lowe...if you don't marry this girl, we are going to kill you. She is WONDERFUL!
Of course we now know that Sean could never see Brooke as his wife and ultimately broke it off with her, so while Shay has been vocal about who she thinks Sean should be with, historically Sean doesn't follow Shay's advice or share her opinions. I think regardless of what Shay thinks and whether she approves or not it doesn't really matter to Sean; Sean is going to do what he thinks is right for him and not what Shay thinks is right for him.

Just curious as to why you think this. Any specific actions or evidence to indicate this?
