Here's what I have to say about Shay. She really doesn't have any other option but to accept and welcome Catherine into the family. As the mother of 2 boys, I've been well schooled by others. It's the woman in the relationship who controls how much the guy sees the family. Honestly even if that wasn't the case it's to your benefit to get to know them and hopefully like them. Shay's bright and I'm sure knows this.

True that Shay has no other choice than to welcome Cat into the family. I must be kinda different than most women, as I encouraged my husband to see his family and would never try to keep him from it or limit his time, but I know what you mean, Albean. : )

I don't mean to imply that all women keep their husbands/bf's from seeing their families. I certainly didn't but it happens from what I hear. I know people who never see their sons and/or grandchildren. I'm also not saying that Catherine would be like that and don't see her standing between Sean & his family.

How is Cat's family with the relationship? Has the mother or sister endorsed the relationship, or tweeted about it etc? just curious

I don't think Catherine's mother tweets. She may have facebook, but like most people, especially educators, she probably has it set on the highest privacy setting. I think her family is a normal, loving, family- and I don't expect any public pronouncements (just as I really don't expect them from Sean's family either). Most of the pronouncements that are seen, ever, are the fake ones the tabloids make up anyway.

Besides the one sister going to DWTS one week, nothing else?

Shay's conspicuous silence, to me says she either doesn't like her or thinks the relationship is a sham, but am curious if her family seems to be acting the same way about the relationship.

Maybe Cat's family isn't into social media so we don't know what's going on? They don't have blogs, active twitter accounts or fb that fans can access and criticize so no, we haven't heard much. The oldest sister is the only one who has an active instagram account that I know about.

It looks like sean/cat have made an effort to not over share their families with the media/fans. No one knew that his parents were in LA every week until fans started posting photos or saying they saw/met them in LA. Shay posted one photo of her and cat. Cat's oldest sister posted one photo of them together. That's pretty much it.

What were you expecting? For them and their families to post photos of each other and proclaim their acceptance? If we didn't see that stuff after the finale, when they as a couple were most popular, we're probably not gonna see much of it moving forward. I don't understand why it makes that big of a difference. Some people/families don't need to justify their love or acceptance via social media.

Shay was over the top vocal about Sean doing the Bach, then nothing, that tells me all I need to know.

As to Cat's family, was just curious. You'd think that if a family member was dating a guy on tv, which is already quite public, and then he's on a very popular dancing show, human nature tells me that her family would be talking it up. Somethings fishy to me.

I have 2 boys also and would take that one step farther and say that if you are not supportive it will cause problems for your son is his marriage and relationship. I will take Papa Jay's approach. I'm not sure that Shay is there yet. She may just be being cautious, but I don't see his family causing any problems for Sean and Cat. If they wed, I would expect them to be smart enough to be nothing but positive.

Her family would be talking it up on social media? Why? How do you know they're not talking it up amongst themselves, in private, without the need to justify it on social media? Especially since no one's been able to find their accounts (but if someone has, hey, let us know!).

Cat's best friend is on social media. She spent time with sean/cat last week, and she's didn't whore their relationship out. Cat's dad sometimes comments on videos/articles. He says sweet things about Cat/Sean. Would that make you feel more encouraged?

But Catherine choose to be public, not them. It would be nice if her mom showed up one week for DWTS, but I am not reading too much into her not wanting to be public about it. And I am one that looks closely at their DWTS after party videos for signs. I do hear Shay's silence because of her blogs and twitter, but not theirs so much.
