At least now we can begin to understand Doug's initial reaction to being iliminated. I really don't think he realized there were people around to witness and hear his frustration because his heart was hurt and he was still a little in shock.

Didn't RS say that Doug's the one that never watched the show before, had zero idea who Emily was before the show? this letter thing is so scripted lol...
Not saying anything negative about Doug's personality! i'm sure the producers told him to do that

Most fans know the show is still filming. This is like the season of the weird, and I was shocked to see this, especially considering he got the FIR and will probably be a fan favorite. Wonder why TPTB didn't make him wait til filming ended, when they all go home, (except the F1 and b'lette stay for a few extra days alone.)San wrote:nd4reality wrote:Thanks San for posting. Thanks KiKill and Dee for figuring this one out.
I'm so looking forward to episode 1 and seeing her interact with Doug. Too bad their connection fizzled at some point.
I like how Chris Harrison describes their relationship as 'sweet' in the 5 to watch. We already know a little bit about why it didn't work out from Wetpaint, but I want to see it play out. He's attending the Wine, Women, and Shoes event tonight, so I hope there are some pictures from it!!
People said Chris has been sent home since last friday, but nobody knows nobody knows his whereabouts.. He's still in the running to becoming the F1 guy
That's what I like about Chris..

Doug is one of Em' guys that I have sympathy for.
I hope he'll find a great future wife in the near future.

Wine, Women, and Shoes
The proceeds will benefit Seattle Children’s Home, which is a comprehensive mental health center dedicated to helping local children and their families.
Unless he goes in and shamelessly promotes himself as on the upcoming season of the Bachelorette ( without having permission of the producers), what harm is there in him appearing in a pre-scheduled event? Most people won't know of his connection anyway if the events promoters don't broadcast it. Maybe he tells them up front to make no mention of it.
I am not certain Doug attended the event. I would be interested in having that confirmed - or even better, seeing some pictures if he was there!

He might have not attended. I hope if he did, we get some pictures from it.

One on One Date with Shoe Guy Doug Clerget
This is your chance to win a date for you or a girlfriend with our Shoe Guy-- Doug Clerget. Doug is our Wine Women & Shoes bachelor and he is ready to hand out a rose to the winning bidder. You and Doug will create a spectacular NW date based on common interests.
Doug Clerget was born and raised in Tacoma and currently resides in Tacoma with his son, Austin. In addition to his successful realty career, Doug runs a charity, Dollar Per Month, with his cousin. Doug explains the inspiration for his philanthropic leanings: “I grew up in a family where philanthropy was a big deal. As I got older, it just does not feel like our generation gives very much. I was thinking to myself, that everyone has a few extra dollars a month, if they just had a place where they could trust that that money could go to a good cause and it was easy, then they would do it.”

the last few seasons have had several contestants do something special for the lead on night one, and it's been speculated that they are told by production to do something to make themselves stand out - who can forget Stacey from Matt's season who put her undies in his pants pocket - or the girl (can't remember the season) who got down on the floor and put her legs behind her head. Or Jenni dancing. a girl in PLos season sang opera......

Leads and contestants alike have said they were told, " This is entertainment TV," so with that in mind, it would not surpise me at all if they prompt stunts by suggesting them if they know the contestants have the capability.
Now, they knew that Doug had this son, so how far out would it be to suggest that they implied to Doug that "maybe" his son could write Emily a letter, especially if they viewed Doug as a very good or likely F4 prospect? Manipulation like this sounds devious to us, but if it is carefully worded to a prospective contestant, it probably didn't sound outrageous at all. It sounds like it is going to give him/her a "leg-up" or a chance to impress and keep him/her fresh in the lead's mind (standout) that others might not have.

Re: Doug Clerget - Bachelorette 8 Contestant - Thread #1
They have gone so far overboard with all the gimmicks in the past few seasons. I suppose the wider audience finds them entertaining, but for me, it's so much more entertaining just to see two people have a conversation and watch how they connect (or don't). I'd much rather see a contestant impress the lead with their conversational skills than because they can dance, sing, or do something else that's suitably wacky.
And I know the contestants feel pressure to stand out that first night, but I really respect the ones who trust their personalities to do that for them.

ITA, gimmicks would be a turn off for me immediately, rather have cute conversation to see the real personality and talk 'real talk'. jmoArcher23 wrote:They have gone so far overboard with all the gimmicks in the past few seasons.
