The bottom line is that we are not Emily, and we can't say with any confidence at all what she will or will not do. We can only say what we think she will do based on what we believe sounds individually right to us.
At the end of the day, yes I agree. But it is still fun to speculate!

IrishGal wrote:Well, hate to say this, Bloomers, but your neighbor had a lousy divorce attorney. And must have been a very conservative judge! I do agree I have heard of that but it's the kind of thing that outrages many of us (me!).
That has been a long time ago, but if I had to guess I would say that it wasn't her attorney but the ex's attorney that insisted on that stipulation which basically protected the father's interests which made his attorney a good one, I suppose if you want to look at that way. :greenman:
I remember my husband pointing out from the man's point of view that it wasn't fair to think of him as only a wallet and money for the child. He said that the child was the man's child as much as the child was the woman's child, and the father wanted to see the child on a regular basis too. If the mother moved hundreds of miles away and took the child with her, the father paid the money but didn't get to see the child but on a very limited basis. Moving benefitted the mother, but in taking the child from the father it didn't benefit the child, and it put the father at a disadvantage.
Anyway you look at it, it is a thorny situation....and there are no good answers. At least the step-father did have a job, and it was not like he was out of work, and the job in Ohio was the only work offered.

I guess my bottom line is that I always like to be able to root for a couple at the end of this who appear to have at least a chance of realistically working out. At this point, I have not seen Emily with Doug, but just based on their individual circumstances, I see a potentially difficult road ahead if he ends up being her choice, made more difficult by the peculiarities and challenges of the Bachelor experience itself. Now from all indications, and from insider information, Doug is a great guy, and perhaps his and Emily's connection and chemistry will be off the charts when we watch their interactions, and I'll become a fan of the couple. But as has been said, we're only speculating right now, and as it's hard for me to root for a romance that seems likely doomed from the start (why I had trouble getting on the Bremily train), I can't help hoping that the guy Emily has that connection and chemistry with, is an equally great guy who is also somebody whose personal situation more easily lends itself to navigating the Bachelor experience and coming away with long term success than what I fear may be the case with Doug. Sorry. :hidingchair :Frown:

If Emily Is as fortunate as Paige to find that love , then moving will not be all that big of a problem . page knew it would mean not seeing her family
as much , but her love for Jeremiah made it easier to move to be with him . if Emily's Daughter likes him thats whats more important
Emily's daughter can spend summer vacations with the Hendricks , and if they except who ever Emily picks then , i'm sure that will also be a big
plus for Emily's final 1 .

No, need to be sorry. I think everyone would love for Emily to have the easiest transition to love as possible after what she's been through. Love just doesn't always work out that way. And I'm not Pro-Doug as F1 or anything. I don't know that he'll even make it into the F4. My point wasn't really about Doug specfically but, what he represents in any of the Bachelors with a kid, living far from NC, or whatever potential complications they may have, and whether Emily would rule them out. I'm Pro-Emily in this situation and that's what my opinion was based on.

docnash14 wrote:Ironcat, I agree that Emily is entitled to some deal breakers. However, as I advise my clients (I am a psychologist), she likely went into this experience with those deal breakers already in place. Thus, if geographical distance was one of them, coupled with her sensitivity about being a single parent, Doug would be long gone.
I agree with this. I do not know what her deal breakers are but obviously we all have them. I have a child and have even more DB b/c of him. I am fortunate in the fact of not being a single mom but I imagine what kind of rules I would have for a relationship (new man) in her shoes. They may be & probably are different then mine but you are 100% correct in her having set situations she would not be involved in. Love or not.
