I just have an honest question regarding Doug having a child and Emily having a child. I really don't know much about this and would like some opinions, but how hard is it to "mix" families? And would jealousy play a role among the kids? I totally understand that Doug and Emily would get along great because they both know what it's like to be parents.. But what about the kids?

Blending families is not easy at all. It's no walk in the park and it requires a lot of work on the parents' parts. Sure the kids may not get along but they may get along famously. Jealousy could play a role but it depends on the children's personalities and how Emily and Doug go about mixing the families. Gut says that if they tried to rush it,it would be a disaster. If they took their time,the kids would be more okay with things and better able to adjust to it.

I am assuming that if Doug is the guy in the blue shirt that he was given a rose on their 1-on-1 date yesterday.

So much of it depends on the relationship the parents have with their "ex" (it will be Ricky's parents in Em's case.) If they can all be mature and put the welfare of the children ahead of their own, it will go a long way toward making the families mesh. If a parent is jealous of the child's relationship with the new family, they can create a horrendous situation for the poor kids. Or as someone else mentioned, often it is a money issue, whether they use money as a tool to control or undermine, or they feel entitled to what they don't have.


The parents and children need to spend a lot of time together before committing so the mom and dad can watch one another's parenting styles, and they can discuss child rearing philosophies. It can be a disaster when one of the children is a royal spoiled brat for example. Those issues aside, if the parents will take their time allowing the children to feel they have a role in creating the new relationships, and never underestimate a child's need for the parent's attention, acceptance and approval, then it can work really well. I'm not an expert by any stretch, just had lots of experience in this area, but all this is just my opinion.

So it looks typically like 1-1 (Monday) group date (Tuesday), 2-1 (Wednesday).

The 2-1 takes the place of the second 1-1.

JMO - I think Doug wasn't on the sailing group date because that was him on a 1-on-1 date wearing the blue shirt.

I think that 1 on 1 date you're talking about is John Wolfner. RS said in that blog that John was in the pic in the Charlotte airport too. So he definitely made it to bermuda

I agree with you Love. I think it's Doug. If not Doug, then it doesn't look like any of the other guys we know of so far, IMO.
