I feel that's the case with many celebrities on that show and not just the Bachelor. Case in point - James Hinchcliffe last season. He went from relative obscurity to one of the fan favs and that came with a lot of media scrutiny. His girlfriend, Rebecca who is a Canadian actress supported him throughout and was there to cheer him on putting probably her career on hold. Now they are back to living their life. My point is if a relationship is strong, it will survive DWTS.

James and his girlfriend weren't in a new relationship. The couples outside this show on DWTS have had time to work out the kinks in their relationship. Either way my post wasn't about their relationship surviving or not, just that doing this show takes a toll and it's still early days for these two. All JMO.

Gosh can't he simply get home from grueling practice and ungruel...have some comfort food, a nice hot shower or bath, something relaxing to drink and veg with someone he loves? I know a lot of people do that after work.

I think DWTS is NOT a factor at all, see all those bachelor who didn't get on the show, things fell apart as well.

As for Nick and Vanessa, I have faith in them because I haven't seen a couple as at ease as them after the finale. Look at all those pictures from the basketball game, they are in love. And I think that's much more important than whether Nick takes part in DWTS.

I think it would be great if Vanessa could babysit Shai sometimes during their practices one day

OT but their relationship was fairly new at that point. They had gotten back in touch as friends on Facebook after 12 years of no contact. On top of it, they had to live with Sharna-James shippers as he got popular. Atleast, Nick doesn't have to worry about that.

I agree that it's early days for Nick and Vanessa but I think the signs are visible in the first couple of weeks if things are going to implode. So far, these two have exhibited none IMO and I give them credit for treating this as a team effort irrespective of what happens in the future.

We've only had ONE truly successful Bachelor. And he did DWTS.... so.... no, I don't think we can say it automatically leads to breakup. LOL

I think Jake and Vienna had one experience. Sean and Cat a different one. And Chris and Whitney their own as well. Nick and Vanessa will get through this one way or another and time will tell for them. Maybe it will continue to be positive for them. If not, oh well. It wasn't positive at all for Sean and Cat, but they were meant to be, so the 6 weeks he was on the show wasn't like make or break. Also, pretty sure Cat didn't live with Sean while he was on the show, so she was alone in an apartment in LA. At least Nick is going home to Vanessa every night. I'm sure that helps.

I don't see it as a game changer either. It's all about establishing a household rhythm that accommodates.  He is a former track athlete who knows how to drive his body and in the past simultaneously completed his college degree.  No reason why he can't dance and love at the same time.
It's impossible to guarantee a relationship. It's only possible to mutually commit to finding out.

Who knows what will happen after DWTS, just like any other couple to come off this show, weeks, months, anything can happen. We've seen some pretty nasty breakups and we are seeing couples still together enjoying their life, media, fan pics and the whole shabang.

However IMO right now, at this point, weeks after the FRC aired, and Nick started DWTS they are handling their relationship in a pretty positive manner. They took the time to fly to Wisconsin to be with his family, had a stop over in NYC, not sure why but they did, and back to L.A. They met up with Taylor after Nick was done practising. They've had dinner with Max and Peta and Vanessa has been very much part of his life. This shows me somehow with everything on his plate, Nick is making sure she is involved as much as possible. She also spent time with her friend at Disneyland so she is quite capable of entertaining herself. She is a very confident young lady IMO.

Whether he lasts on DWTS or not, I think he is looking at this as an incredible opportunity will do the best he can, It appears to me his focus is DWTS and Vanessa. After that, they have other things on their plates to deal with. Living arrangements, Nick's business, Vanessa's students, etc Same as other couples, minus DWTS.

After that, it's anyone's guess, just like all the other couples, but right now IMO they seem very much in love.

I think the DWTS experience is largely determined by the couple, moreso than the environment. I do think it plays a factor. But like most people have mentioned, a strong relationship is going to withstand that kind of pressure and scrutiny. I agree that it is too early to judge whether Nick and Vanessa's relationship will last... I mean, you could argue that relationships that have lasted a year or ten years can abruptly end tomorrow. So what's the magic number? What's the benchmark?

I do think it's totally reasonable for people here to voice their opinions and make judgments, both positive and negative, based on what's been shown in the last two weeks. I don't think anyone can conclusively determine that they'll be a couple by Christmas (unless someone here is a psychic and not telling). But IMO, I think it's fine for people to express optimism for this couple.

IMO, V will take 12 hours of Nick dancing to one hour of cooped up with the squad any day of the week! Just ask her! V wasn't cut out for the bachelor. I don't think she would have made it with anyone other than Nick, I really don't. She really wasn't ready for a journey that entailed what she got in return as in living with women for 12 weeks who did not like that she always had his eye. I thought their relationship was represented most by one scene. It told me their chances of surviving were pretty good. When he calmly talked her through her fears and doubt on LCD (not giving into her) and held her complete attention still eagerly listening, I knew he was the one for her. Nick has the same effect on V that he does the interviewer. He's got you before you know it. Vanessa is a firecracker, no doubt. Nick can handle her and it's one of the things he likes most about her. He's an introvert, she's an extrovert but they do compliment each other beautifully.

Looking back, ITA with you that V wasn't cut out for this show. I now understand why a lot of people associated with the show including CH said that they were surprised V made it till the end with how much she was struggling with the process. If someone like Christen who lasted 3 episodes saw it, I am sure it was obvious to others as well who lasted a lot longer IMO. The scene you described was also the first time I thought that these two might just make it in the real world after all. When he placed their joined hands on her heart and said 'just stay here', I felt like I was witnessing a pure raw moment the likes of which I had rarely seen on the show before.
