Nick Viall & Vanessa Grimaldi - Bachelor 21 - Discussion

Nick looks happy to me. Again, Nick has never been the upbeat fake happy person. He's being his true self. Just because he's now the "enagaged Nick", I don't expect him to be any different. He's never been gushy. He's more of the romantic but still serious type, IMO.

A suggestion: IMHO, it would be helpful if social media and media content posted for a couple on a "no discussion" thread is not limited to or separated between a "fan no discussion" thread and a "'general discussion' no discussion" thread...the reasoning: there will be no conversation in the thread anyways, and so it would be handy to have one single repository of media about a couple in one thread. IMHO.

regarding Nick's measured and unemotive comments IMHO I was actually referring to how he describes his fiance -- he can be effusive and long-winded when he talks about women he admires and respects e.g. Andi and how when he confessed his love to her kept going on about what about her he loved, another example, he has used many words and said he can probably talk for a while when describing Rachel's positive attributes, I have heard Nick describe how he appreciates how Vanessa owns and expresses her feelings and directly addresses any issue and he's discussed how stunning she is but I haven't heard him waxing poetic in the way he's done with other women. Maybe interviewers haven't point blank asked him what attracted him to her or what does he love about her...look forward to seeing what he responds to that question. IMHO

So this interview with Nick and Vanessa (and Peta) done after the ATFR shows me a very natural, relaxed and loving relationship between Nick and Vanessa.

Regarding Rachel, not to diminish what he has said about her but he does work in sales. IMO, I think he was selling her for the ette role when he would talk about her. It was also the week or so before she was announced and they made him do all these media tours and Rachel was always in the "questions". I'm sure if given the opportunity he would say many great things about Vanessa they just haven't been asked to him.

I remember Kaitlyn (she popped into my head first) referencing Nick's serious side when comparing Nick and Shawn. (This is not an attempt to recap opinions of that season). Happy, smiley, not a care in world, go lucky is NOT Nick. He's an introvert. He's always in his head. He's a thinker. He's measured. Look at his insta stories. Talk about boring!  He realizes he becomes a little more balanced with a V in his life. He needs that, IMO. I totally understand the attraction outside of physical beauty.

A glimpse of her social media/insta stories before TB tells me why he chose her. Of all the women Nick has encoutered in the last 3 years, I don't see anyone who delivers his needs and wants as V does. If they don't make it, Nick will be hurt but if there is one thing Nick has proven, it's onward and forward. That's just who he is, IMO.

Honestly, if I saw a 36 year old man act OTT like a teenager in love for the first time, I would be disappointed. IMO As people grow older, the way they express love changes. I never had a problem with PDA in my teens. Now that I am older, I find it to be showy and keep it to a minimum esp. in company of others.

I kinda dig how low-key they have been on SM so far. It might change in the future but for now, it shows me that they are not interested in proving anything to anyone like Vanessa said and are happy in knowing what they have. They could have posted a bunch of PDA pics with gushing love captions on SM after their ATFR to silence the critics IMO. A lot of couples in this franchise have done it in the past but Nissa chose not to. Their actions match their words and IMO it shows that they are in this relationship for themselves, not just to gain adoration of their fans and not just to silence their critics.

I'm not sure why we're trying to validate why he picked Vanessa in words? Sometimes it's just that "je ne sois quoi" or something inexplicable. Perhaps words just can't describe what he saw in her.  I've read so many interviews by them but I remember something he said that stuck out. (Paraphrasing) The relationship with Vanessa is not comparable to what he had with Kaitlyn nor with Andi and he is happy about that.  I believe I will echo Sharleen's sentiment - there is an equality of power in their relationship even from the beginning.  Nick does not have to wax poetic about Vanessa to me, because I see it in his actions - after the fact - how much he values her.  My .02 cents

They were relaxed and comfortable together in the video above with Peta (Access) and I loved how they teased around. Those who don't like Vanessa or maybe even Nick will see the negatives and those who like them will the positives. As always, only time will tell if they are one another's forever.

@cila51290, I agree with you about Rachel. He had a role to play in promoting the next season and he did it. I'm sure he likes Rachel, but even if he didn't he would have spoken kind words because he was being paid to do so.

As far as what the show showed us, from my understanding, the edit was crazy with the proposal. There was a lot of stuff spliced out of sequence with the order of him talking and her talking and then frankenbyting. The frankenbyting that whole episode with MTP's was ridiculous.
Not sure why it was done and it doesn't matter as it was done. So the opportunity of what was shown on the show itself was out of the couple's hands.
As far as the other interviews etc., IDK about anyone else but he seems pretty effusive to me in many of them. JMO

Someone remind me, earlier in the season Nick was interviewed and asked to use one word to describe each woman. What word did he use for Vanessa?
