OK, so Heather has to be drunk to deal with Derek huh?
I really felt bad for him BUT when he called her old, he crossed a line, IMO.

IMO, she crossed the line when she called him a child so I thought his comment was hilarious, as well her milk comment.

I felt the same way.. I thought it was really funny. I don't know why people were offended by it. I don't think he meant it.

UGH.... I forgot the other way he referred to her..... "This girl" or This woman"......

After season 2 I swore I would never watch/comment again because I thought that the experts and the men were the worst. I was channel surfing, caught a few minutes of season 4 and broke my word to myself. I don't need everyone to get along but I am really annoyed when things that go wrong are manipulated even further. I can only hope that neither Heather or Derek is like the person that they are showing on camera. Heather does not seem to be a good communicator. She also appears to get a loop in her head and can't stop it. She also seems childish and not capable of empathy. And the smirk on her face when discussing the surf instructor was bad. I do think quite a bit of this was editing. Bad on the experts for not identifying these issues; bad on the producers for manipulating them. Derek is insecure and panders and finally is nasty. Oh poor Derek. Assuming it was pot - why does he need to be in an altered state when he is on a honeymoon with a stranger. Because it is his vacation? Not. Your wife is not affectionate with you? Was that before or after you needed to get relaxed to be with her? I felt sorry for him that it was a bad match until last night. The final straw was when he said she was getting old, long in the tooth, etc. He was a sexist and ageist in his comments and about as nasty as I have seen (her calling him childish is not nearly as bad). So now every time this couple is on air there goes my fast forward. These two are not likable and the coverage of their relationship makes it worse.

They are scraping the bottom of the casting barrel, and it yields pairings like this. Heather's attitude and demeanor are significantly explained IMO by her profound disappointment in an obviously WRONG match from day one. It's not about Derek, what we see. He's simply the on-camera expression of her disgust and dismay that she went through with this, TRUSTING "experts" that turn out to have cast the show first, matched the couples second, if that makes sense.

I think that she's like Ashley -- who clued in via social media or whatever right around the same timeline -- perhaps she started getting information about the Train Wreck of Season 2 and Season 3 (0 for 3), and maybe even that she was matched late to "replace" the girl who dropped out and posted on Twitter about her reasons.

Heather comes across to me as Pissed, royally Pissed, and not (merely) at Derek. A lot like Ashley, who I think also had some bumps in the earliest days that clued her in to the Lies in the casting/recruitment process, the horrible track record, and the lack of compatibility with David.

You could line up 25, 50, maybe even 75 men and a woman could (correctly) know "at first sight" that none, or most, would never suit for a mate, and be quite right about that! (Intuition = the 75% correct answer delivered instantly.)

Hi All -- Newbee here -- I agree with you all that this is bad matching, IMO. Who was the girl that had to be replaced? And was she to be matched with Derek? Also, do you think Heather's checked out of Twitter because she's on her trip, or just "checked out" - -? Thanks!

Not that I like Heather either, but Derek showed himself to be a total azz in last night's episode. He was also clearly going through some sort of withdrawal symptoms, the way he was stressing about ridiculous stuff and acting like a child. Clearly the lack of weed talking. What a train wreck.

IMO, a grown man being called a child by a woman holds the weight as a man calling a woman old.

I didn't like himfrom the beginning. he came off as trying to sound like a nice guy which is a flag to me in general.

Secondly he was too weird with the kissing. I'm with her that would give me the eebies how he was doing it.

I would feel that way if a guy got high during the honeymoon every day too.

Also I can't find out who he is an AE for... as in his job. .. kind of weird it's not listed on LinkedIn or anything.
