Re: Nick Viall - Bachelorette 11 - *Spoilers - Sleuthing* - Discussion #4
Shoot! Now I'm honestly "scared" that it's truly Nick in the running ... because if it wasn't for him, if there would be another name instead of him, I would definitely see that outcome.
(Stuck, AAL - you will have to "convince" me why is that good.)
But I came to conclusion about Nick's un-popularity, IMO:
It was all set up from before the season 10 started. He was introduced late in the pre/during filming findings, so the information wasn't available to all, while Josh's was. Then there was the famous spoiler-video and partially people blamed him for spoiling the season that hadn't even aired, part of the audience already sided with Josh and found him a perfect picture for Andi and so Nick obviously was their antagonist, ruining the happiness, but then with the video "blab" he made himself a target, because he blasted on Andi and Josh, thus for automatically becoming the villain. - And that was all before the show even started.
TPTB decided to milk the spoiled season by editing the most "salacious" parts, by inserting doubt in viewers minds, that Nick wasn't there for the right reasons and was strategizing all along. So reasonably, they showed Nick as confident and convinced of the positive result. But people already knew the ending, even those who weren't spoiled. With the edit, media outlets, blogs they were leaded to believe that Josh was the frontrunner and therefore making a practical joke out of Nick, because suddenly his confidence was perceived as excessive. People were just waiting to see the moment when he was about to realize he lost his crown. It was even more painful at the end to hear, that he didn't have the crown at all, that it was all a game, which he caught himself in and that the spider-web of lies was never acknowledged. Instead of a lawsuit he had to act in a staged letter delivery, had his family involved in a post-production story of a heartbroken man who couldn't let it go. He called, he tried to contact her, he couldn't accept she chose the other man ... that was the message, so conveniently matching the media scoop and ABC-TB portray of a "creepy-Nicky". That brought us the memorable scene of his genuinely weak moment at the ATFR. The topic he started has opened a new possibility for TPTB to extend the promotion of the show, but also to ignite interest in new viewers to tune in and discover this world, where sex is a veiled subject wrapped with a bow.
So for this year, TPTB has brought us Kaitlyn, the bachelorette without hesitations to unwrap that gift and let the bunny run free. And with her, they have brought us the man himself, who spoiled the magic trick and made babies cry. Only that this time there are no tricks for him to uncover and there is enough of "entitled men" in the house already, that Nick's (over)confidence in comparison won't be even noticed. This time he is here to be the magic trick himself. He is the veil and the smoke, while the fire burns elsewhere.
(Stuck, AAL - you will have to "convince" me why is that good.)

As much as I would love to see a whole season of the depth that Nick being the Bachelor would provide, the producers will always pick the fan favorite no matter how apparently boring they are going to be to watch. Prince farming. JP.
Nick is not a fan favorite. He is a fine, acquired taste that appeals to a smaller group of viewers who wish to see "real"-ity television at its finest. IMO, he would be insane to go back for a third helping, no matter what the producers promise him. Even he admitted that going back the second time caused him "sweaty palms", but that he did it for a singular reason...a specific person who he thought was worth his time, effort and in this case eventual humiliation. I have a hard time seeing him go back for a nebulous group of girls that may or may not be a good fit for him. He seems like a "light at the end of the tunnel" kind of guy, meaning that he takes risks that are worth the light at the end of the tunnel. Kaitlyn was worth that risk because he could see a happy future with her. A group of 25 unknown women chosen by producers for maximum television ratings would be a risk not worth it. Especially when you consider the reality that most of the couples are finished within a few months of the show's ending.
That's not even considering the amount of humiliation and fan dislike that Nick has had to endure the past year. Sure, he lets it roll off his back without too much consideration, but he has to realize that if casted as the lead he would surely win the title of "most hated bachelor ever" putting JP to shame. People are only going to watch to see him fail a third time. To me, that would be anything but uplifting and encouraging. It would be a dramatic, disaster on screen. And one of the farthest things from the romantic story I believe that he truly wants with "the one" in the end.

I would MUCH rather watch someone interesting & unique like Nick for next Bach, then someone bland.

Complex good guys are hard to come by and Nick is a complex good guy. Too bad so many confuse the word complex with bad guys. Would be nice to watch a complex good guy such as Nick as lead.

AAL you and me both it would a must watch show. If the producers want a another controversial season choose nick and see people watch to see how he handle 25 georgeous ladies. Ratings would go through the roof.

Plus, he's all out of bubble gum.
As romantic as it is to think that Nick came back for Kaitlyn, I'm still feeling that TPTB put him into their storyline well before filming. They demanded his return as part of his payback for the plane video. I have no proof, but here's my best guess.
As I've said before, I think his time with Julie Berry was them telling him how it was all going to play out. Even his tweet about Salesforce being the best company to work for was probably him thanking them for their understanding/cooperation in letting him have the time to finish his "obligation." Probably one of the reasons he still had his phone/computer was to continue working remotely...part of the deal he worked out with TPTB.
So his tweet about being out of bubble gum was him declaring himself free of TB. Hence his apparent happiness post filming. His "long national nightmare" was finally over.
Obviously, this is all my opinion, but it's the only way this season is making sense to me at the moment.
So for his sake, I hope Nick isn't tempted to go back...as much as I think he'd be a great lead.

So true Litta.
And to think, maybe Nick will see Kaitlyn's spoiler-gate as another bubble-gum reliever?
He certainly is free now to not have to pretend for the next months and not have the weight of spoiling it on his shoulders.
... If TPTB held airplane-gate over Nick.... what are they going to do to Katilyn and Shawn? Maybe being F1 and lead is a bit different.

i don't think Nick went to this season only for "love", i think he had other motives, payback can be one of them.. or maybe he is just an attention seeker like almost everyone else in this show.
