The timing is certainly interesting...

When it comes to what is staged or not, I have to take that line of questioning back to the show itself and just try to keep in mind that no matter what is spoiled or shown on the final episode this year, in a few months time we can have another post-FRC breakup anyway before the next season is recycled.

Charriot ... from the experience with last "gate" ... to spare you time with contemplating possibilities that this could be staged ... let me tell you ... it is real.

Move on to Nick debate: I highly doubt there is any chance for Nick to become the Bachelor:
1) Majority of Bach fans don't like him - no matter how great smelling he's gonna get out of this round, the past is not forgotten and he is vastly disliked  - he might be very entertaining, but the bottom line, people will cheer seeing him being "dumped for the 2nd time".
2) he was very aware of the backlash his comeback would receive, but he did it for a chance on love ... To go on the guillotine for the 3rd time, with no reassurance of the happy ever-after, would be crazy and stupid. And he knows the media by now.
3) TPTB has already very solid options for the next TB in the guys whose portray is still in the works, so in the next episode we'll see who will be most "desirable" ... at least they have JoshM still single and available (with huge following)
4) Nick isn't made for being the lead - IMHO - he likes the chase and excitement of breaking the rules and despite this "illusion" that the lead (including Kaitlyn) has a lot of freedom in managing their season, the fact remains that it is TPTB show (they produce it, they make everything happen ... no matter how much sb thinks it was theirs idea)
5) with the exposure and increased attention Nick gets with this 2nd round, he is getting also more notice by women, resulting that he might not need TPTB for getting him in touch with some nice "whole package".

I actually think this could be TPTB setting him up to be the bachelor, all the hate would have viewers tuning in and I find it hard to believe Kaitlyn didn't know a lot sooner that slightly douchey (JMO) Shawn is much more her type than cerebral Nick. I think Kaitlyn and Nick had initial attraction, but I just think she probably knew pretty quick it wasn't him, so why have him stay if not for TB. Kind of like Chris S, Andi would probably liked to have gotten a FS with hot, hot Marcus instead of Chris who she couldn't even stand to let in the room, but he needed more airtime to be TB. I could see Nick needing the rejection to deserve his chance. I also think he has no delusions left about the show and if he did it would definitely be actually trying to find a wife.

Heck, I would love a full season of Nick, so I say bring it on.

When it comes to TPTB one can never say never.
People always say they won't watch if so-and-so is the lead and then they watch anyway.

Now if TPTB want even more drama for next season of the Bachelor and heat things up with two bachelors like this season of the Bette? Just imagine: Nick and Josh.

Why Stuck, why!?! I actually agree with you ... logical conclusion from all the media/SM/edit is ... he just "could be" the NEXT. (Is it a wishful thinking from my part that he is not?)

I was right there with you until he decided to comeback for Kaitlyn. I think he is tough enough to handle it, so I can just sit back and enjoy whatever Nick I can get. BTW, I am recording but not watching yet. I have to say I will be happy if today's spoiler is right just to read how RS, aka blogger boy, digs himself out of being wrong.

Anyway, I am totally ready and strong enough to fight for Nick for a whole bachelor season, heck I stayed strong in my commitment that Chris Soules was a douche while others thought he was genuine and real, so bring it on, I actually like Nick so I would get to be the faithful defender this time, which singing Taylor Swift in my head.

I am with you Stuck! We must have similar taste in men (and dislike for the same ones too -- farmer douche CS always was).

I say give Nick a chance to have some girls chase him for once. He has already proven he will chase and fight for a girl so why not turn the tables for once? Have some girls fight for/over him! :Nod:

The Kaitlyn that is unfolding on the season seems lost, unsure of what she wants in a man, not confident, impulsive and a "shallow" In the words of Ian. She does not seem like a right fit for Nick in terms of emotional intelligence IMHO

I think Kaitlyn is at heart a free spirit/party girl and to me Nick is very cerebral, I can see an initial attraction with no second phase IMO.

stuck I'm with you on this - I might have used the word "intense" but cerebral is also good. But I never saw them as a good match in a relationship - maybe just good at initial attraction; I could see Kaitlyn feeling smothered. I think Kaitlyn is more one to want to enjoy love than analyze it.

I also think Nick would do best with a woman that wants to lead, but it seems Kait wants the guy do it- like asking Nick if he's staying and being surprised it's her decision. Jmo.

Nick is a very multi-faceted, multi-dimensional and multi-layered person. It is rare to find someone who has what many may call polar opposite traits within the same person.

He is funny, witty, sarcastic, intelligent, romantic, cerebral (like Stuck mentioned), lighthearted, intense, deep thinking, introspective, sincere, centered, marches to his own beat... I could go on.

I think because he is so multi-layered he has a hard time finding the right girl. A girl may be attracted to parts of him and he to parts of another girl, but ultimately, imo, underneath all of Nick's sarcastic-witty, fun self, he is a very deep soul. He has an artist's soul and views the world differently than most people. I think it is this part of him that is just too raw and real for many girls - especially those who may prefer a different world view - one that that is not filled with sooo many colors/multi-faceted.
