Re: Chris Soules - Whitney Bischoff - Bachelor 19 - Discussion
Passion isn't the only ingredient to make love last. A little bit of passion, friendship, maturity, respect, a whole lot goes into a successful relationship, will these two work? Time Will tell. I have seen ,followed couples that had passion and fire and yet they crashed and burned and imploded once it was time to explore other aspects of a relationship. I'm not obsessed with these two but I'm open minded about them and think they seem to be doing things right to make their relationship work. Like someone said up thread, there hasn't been an Ash and JP kind of relationship from this franchise and IMO, agree, there are different degrees of love. Some you have to work hard at, some you just have "it".I'm glad they are slopping down on each other tho, I'm also suspicious of those Bach couples that do that. Like what are you trying to prove:giggling:

I guess we will know soon enough. ;)
You could be right, but from my perspective there is no way there is enough money that could make Whitney, a strong independent woman "play a role" while Chris is on DWTS if she was the "planned back-up." I just don't see her degrading herself that way.
We don't know what could be Whitney's motivation : adventures, travels (like so many other contestants), exposure to TV, showbiz, or trying the best she can to get Chris ?
Bottom line, for me, I could see a scripted bachelor season with Whitney accomplice and willing participant. It would explain so many things I couldn't see or understand in this season.
Anyway, when I see Chris and Whitney kiss I don't see a (newly engaged) couple in love. No passion. It's not a question of PDA, but the fact that it looks "blah" IMO.
Just like in a movie with bad actors. Once again, my opinion.
Agree.

Well said. I admit to not liking Ashley & JP until after the season. I think if you like the f2 it's hard to see the real connection with the f1. No surprise when they try to keep us from seeing it.
I'm not a huge fan of C/W but I think they're a good match. Now is still a surreal time for them so guess we'll see what it's like when DWTS is over. I think Whitney continuing to work while still supporting Chris in the show is a good start. Watching a video isn't going to tell us anything about their relationship imo. What little I've seen lately makes me appreciate that they're grownups and don't feel the need to put on an act like some of the previous couples. JMO

Exactly, Lex and Albean. They aren't 15 year olds in heat. IMO, not one of the couples who has stayed together had jump off the screen chemistry. Sean and Catherine didn't have it, especially during the media blitz after his season was done.
What have the movies and TV done to us that we can no longer recognize a real relationship because they don't ooze with Chemistry. I look at DWTS and the manufactured chemistry between the couples. We eat that up and actually believe that there is something going on with these couples. Kelly and Val and Maks and Merle come to mind. People actually thought there was something real going on between them and there was no truth to it.
Chemistry is in the eye of the beholder and it has nothing to do with a real life relationship.

ITA...and they are gonna have some beautiful babies! These are the 4 little ones they keep referring to.
Seems like there are two camps, one that sees the chemistry and one that doesn't. Only time will tell but because I see maturity as a couple and see them both being there for the right reasons I don't think they would "go along" with something that was not real. I am hopeful for their future.

Re: Chris Soules - Whitney Bischoff - Bachelor 19 - Discussion
Hmmm, I guess I disagree with cindebugg because I always felt like Sean/Catherine, JP/Ashley, and Des/Chris did have a very easy, natural chemistry right after the show. They never had the whole "can't keep our hands off each other" like Roberto/Ali did but they all seemed to fit together. And, I wasn't really a fan of any of the couples, TBH. All three couples had at least one person that's a little awkward and I think that at least two couples had slight issues in the beginning (Catherine not really supporting DWTS, Des/Chris not liking the constant Brooks questions), but I did see that connection throughout. I do agree that chemistry is in the eye of the beholder and I admit that it's possible that Chris/Whitney seem "off" because they are not used to all the interviewing and SM.
And, I don't think that anyone is saying that physical chemistry and passion is the only important aspect of a relationship, but it is strange as Chris was SO touchy-feely on the show, constantly making out with pretty much anyone within reach, and even said that physical touch was one of the most important things to him to demonstrate love. So, it's weird that we're not really seeing that with Chris/Whitney, unless it's a staged picture or it's when the cameras are on them.

It's possible that Whitney is the one who doesn't like PDA and prefers to hold hands, quick kiss and hug and save the passion for private. If so, then I totally respect Chris for honoring that considering his touchy feeling self. JMHO

I got the feeling that Chris was kissing women when he didn't know what else to do or say. Lots of leads have done that in the past. We don't know what he's like with Whitney now because we only see them in public.

Yeah, I wouldn't want any couple to be all over each other, but holding hands or having an arm on her back seems more normal for a couple in love than not touching each other at all. He doesn't seem to have any problem touching Witney. Yes, I know it's what you do on DWTS, but he seems really comfy having her in his armpit, so why not fiancee Whitney? Even the couple of times they've been interviewed on All Access during the show, there's no contact between them whatsoever. It just makes me wonder if they're nervous about being interviewed or each other. Then the moments when they're expected to show passion and emotion, like when they saw each other at ATFR and last night, it's like two cars crashing. Like they're trying hard to seem passionate rather than feeling something for real. There's just something odd about it all.
Last night was a great chance to wax poetic about Whitney and show her the love she deserves, yet in the intro package she seemed like an afterthought. It was a poor attempt to get the sympathy vote by sniffling about no one wanting to live on the farm, so he needed the show to find love. It would've been much more effective to actually talk about Whitney, since his sob story can't really compete with people losing their family members and limbs. It was also unintentionally comedic, how his sister wrote in the letter that he'd treat his fiancee like a princess and then there he is going on about feeling chemistry with Witney and her being his best friend right now, while they're cutting to Whitney in the audience. No wonder everyone behind him started laughing. He shouldn't be allowed to speak, since he can't keep his foot out of his mouth.

I somewhat agree! Kudos to eliza3 for bringing it up. This is the only time in this thread that someone saw it that way. From what I have seen on the clips, when Chris leans in, Whitney always leans back. Even after the dance last night, when Chris hugged her, she was pulling out after a few seconds. All the kisses we saw in TB that were initiated by her seems scripted now in comparison and always in her own terms. It doesnt mean though that they are not in-love with each other. Chemistry is intangible and a bit overrated, IMO. I am happily married 15 years and I can barely remember a PDA with my husband. But then being public figures, C/W are subject to other's opinion, speculation and judgment. just the way it is.

Re: Chris Soules - Whitney Bischoff - Bachelor 19 - Discussion
Something has always seemed off to me with them as a couple. I think Whitney wanted a fiance so bad that she's going along with whatever right now.
Chris just doesn't say the right things. I saw a TV interview with him after the filming but before the winner was announced and the man asked him "Can you see yourself married to the women you picked?"... He hesistated and didn't really answer the question.
During filing, he kept emphasizing he wanted a wife not a girlfriend and Whitney would have gotten married that day, so i have my doubts if they are the real thing. I thought they would have been married by now if they were real... DWTS or not... at least have a date..
I think he's in too deep now and he has to go along for the ride so to speak with whatever the network wants him to do and wants them to do a couple. I think he obviously cares for her as a person and they probably do have a good friendship since they've been through all this, but i don't see them getting hitched.
I also think DWTS is overplaying their relationship and the average DWTS viewer could care less about them as a couple. And i think Chris does look scared to give it all with dancing Witney. Fiance Whitney can be as confident and strong as she wants to be, but a little blond dancing all over your man would get to anybody.
