Her employer would have every right to be furious with her, IMO, if the idea was pitched to her and she said no way. Isn't promoting fertility options and the clinic part of her job now? As for the secret angle, maybe Chris didn't know while they were filming but I'm sure she told him about it after. I'm not going to read much into how they worded the teaser, those things are designed to get people to tune in.
I suspect the clinic offers the egg freezing service to their employees either free or at a serious discount because it's best if their female employees can assure their patients, "I did it too, and here's what I experienced..." She said she did it three or four years ago, so she has them locked in at a great age. (silly face) As her partner on the Chicago talk show said, this is a great idea for young women who aren't concerned so much about conceiving their first baby but might want to use their 26 yr old eggs for a pregnancy when they're 36. That's something I never considered so promoting this idea on a national stage is a huge win for the clinic, and Whitney too -- though it's too late for me personally, ha.
My point was that GMA is not in the business of giving away free advertising...the hook is that she has a secret.
I guess we will have wait and find out what it is.
And never said she should not do it - my only point was nobody including Whitney is above the self-promotion whether it's promoting her position/ on behalf of the clinic or anything else. That's fine. it's just that we keep hearing about how normal they want to be and doing the opposite.
But, here's the deal ... they are not "normal." Bachelor just ended with 9.5 million viewers tuning into their lovely proposal and now Chris is on DWTS which has another 14 million viewers tuning in. They have fans stopping them on the street and they are recognized everywhere they go. They have also been given a fantastic platform to take their chosen careers to the next level. And, fancy that a farmer and a nurse have something to say to America.
Why begrudge them that opportunity?

^^^ ITA!! I hope they use every opportunity that comes their way to share the knowledge they have. The public who disagree or aren't interest simply have to turn the channel or page.

I hope she uses her 15mins or 1min of fame. After all, all the other girls are doing it even the ones that had no air time. She won't be the first nor the last .

JMOAA, if one person is helped to having a viable pregnancy from the segment( and we don't know what the GMA subject matter is, we are only speculating), than that is one more blessing in the world.
Maybe that person will find out resources to fund having this done. Most don't have insurance coverage.
Maybe it will offer women in rural areas as toll free number to contact for centers, to answer questions and help with referrals.
Regardless, I can't possibly imagine a greater joy than finding out you are pregnant. Most moms, I am sure will agree and if you can't conceive this is a true gift.
I can't possibly think of any--any other "pimping yourself out" that a lead or cast has done that has had a greater reward. JMOAA.

As far as IVF and that whole ball of wax, you will never find a greater fan than moi.
I owe my 1 yr old grandson that I love dearly to this process.
IVF is very expensive. If you are lucky enough to have insurance coverage it is generally limited.
It can be painful both physically and emotionally. My daughter gained 15 lbs in the process even before implantation. It is a hormonal roller coaster. Think of PMS times 1000.
Implantation does not always take the first time and when it does, you might be carrying multiple babies. That puts you into a high risk category.
Then there is future embryo storage and fees-- 10K a year.
So freezing eggs is the very tip of the iceberg.
Most people know nothing about this stuff unless educated and that is generally because they are facing these issues.
If someone is coming on a morning show to educate viewers to provide resources, support and information, personally I think it's a great service.
My 2 cents toward the food fight.
I literally have teary eyes reading this post. It's just a very personal topic for many ...
What one does to have a child is their own business and I have a niece who did IVF and delivered healthy twins so Kasha is right on the money. I respect Whitney a lot more than other past contestants who now are rep'ing products on their facebook pages. I understand that often times these items are literally thrown at the couples but in this case, there are many couples that struggle with fertility problems and if even just one of them learns something from hearing what Whitney says, then that is one couple that might be closer to having a child to love. All things aside, it is a perfect morning story. It promotes the Bachelor franchise, even if she is just introduced as the newest engaged from the franchise and also the GMA audience is largely women and this is a perfect fit.

One person isn't better than the other, based on how they use their opportunities, and what they choose to promote. Yes, if it will benefit you and increase your business or earning potential, it is self promotion. Show me the person who quietly goes back to normal, regular life (Chantal), after being on this show, and I'll show you the one who's truly different. Otherwise, they are all in the same boat, to me.
Absolutely !
Promoting is promoting, period.
Direct or indirect benefit, but still benefit.
Whitney is just like the others, surfing the wave of her 15 minutes fame IMO.
I also thought this couple would go back to business in Iowa, after having both repeated how much it was important for them to get married and have kids ASAP.
Now Chris is doing DWTS, and Whitney is going around promoting her line of work.

Um ... okay ... all I know is I am just a "normal person" and if someone wanted to pay $125K to do DWTS ... heck ya! If I had a chance to go on GMA to promote what I do professionally, heck ya again!

Oh, sure !
But I wouldn't have been claiming for months before that my main goal was to go back to Iowa and have babies.. I don't care what they do, but I don't like their hypocrisy. JMHO.

All this reminds me of 1F and People Water.
During the show, most viewers were praising him for promoting such an honorable cause until...a few months after when most realized that 1F was simply a buffoon promoting himself.
Of course I am not saying it's the same with Whitney, but I can't help but wondering if via the promotion of good causes, these people going on TV shows are not simply promoting themselves...
And in this case, I don't find this worth of praises.

Oh dear...the great People Water fiasco/sham.
This is not even close to the same thing unless we are talking about smoke and mirrors vs an honorable cause.
I will let someone far more versed in the details deal with this, but this was not so good below the surface.

1F is a looser, always was.
IMO this is the best use of 15 minutes that I've ever read about, if that's the news Whitney will be revealing.
It takes people with kind hearts to work in this field. Helping others, is what we all should do in one manner or another.
They are both taking advantage of their popularity and both in a very good way. Whitney and the company she works for, Chris being a spokeman for farmers. One makes lives, the other feeds lives.
I can't see how either one of them can't be praised.

As one who lived first hand the pain of infertility and the despair that I would never know the joy of pregnancy and childbirth, Whitney using her "fame" as a platform to educate women about available options to preserve their reproductive options is VERY worthy of praise, IMO.
