Re: Chris Soules - Whitney Bischoff - Bachelor 19 - Discussion
I found Des situation far worse and thought her and Chris wouldn't make it because she loved Brooks. She was completely heartbroken when Brooks left. With Chris he might have started falling in love with Becca but realized they are not in the same place in their lives. Becca still has a lot to experience in life and needs to find herself and knows what Becca wants. I see that in Becca because I am also in the same situation in my life.soccermom333 wrote:I see your point but in no way do I compare Chris to Des. I love whit and wish her well. I think for both Des and Chris (Soules), it wasn't hard to leave the bubble and realize that the feelings you thought you had were extreme like, at best. I don't think either were nearly in love with Brooks/Becca, so it shouldn't be hard to move on and give the f1 a solid chance.

TPTB do a great job of getting some viewers to believe the "connection" the lead has with the F2. We saw & heard it from MeandI with Nick. We saw & heard it from JPG with Clare. Sweet Des really took it to a whole new level with Brooks. We even heard Sean say ILY to his F2 - holy cow!relaxing wrote:Diana wrote:bleuberry wrote:You know, I'm definitely not arguing that these two will be together forever or that they're each other's true love or whatever. It's just that after two seasons of less than mature behaviour, these two are a breath of fresh air. I just find them to be nice and likeable people, so I'm cheering them on. I did enjoy watching their story, too.
Agreed! I was caught up in the Chris and Becca story the last few weeks, but without a doubt find Chris and Whitney nice, classy, realistic people. I wish them luck and will be happy to check in for updates on them unlike the last 2 couples who I was totally uninterested in. I think Chris was truly conflicted and did the best he could and probably made the best decision for a man in his 30s ready to marry to make. I hope he and Whit give it a real try, and both seem the mature and logical types to move on with class if it's not working.

The again after Brooks left, Des had a week or more to focus solely on Chris and realise Brooks was a one-sided love and Chris the real deal. Chris S didn't have that. He went from begging Becca to love him to proposing to Whitney the very next day. He never had that time to focus on Whitney alone. Hopefully he can do that now, if he's got any energy left after all that dancing.

I was looking for a tweet from December and noticed this post from Kasha on Dec. 12th.

"What needs to be kept in mind is even though he picked someone, that someone may not be the someone. It may have been the only right choice available, under the circumstances."
guess, psychic, good source? Kasha, were you that production assistant shaking his shoulders the night before FRC?
There weren't many viable choices to begin with and the ones he convinced himself might be were dropping like flies (Jade, Britt). I seriously doubt Chris wrote his blog this season. Whoever did uses Becca's reaction in the barn as closure for Chris to propose after the commercial break. Becca knew the night before, part of their conversation in the hotel is missing. One way or another, I think Chris was painted into a corner. I actually don't think there is/was much hope with any of his F4 + Britt. The (cold, isolated) farm and wanting to quick start a family were Chris's biggest priorities and it seems that casting all but ignored that. It's a different culture and it would have greatly improved his odds of future success to be with someone that grew up the same way. For example, the roles of women and men are clearly defined. Farming is hard work and long hours, so it may have necessitated this and have a legitimate historical basis. But, many of the subtle ways in which this will manifest itself will surprise and/or even offend Whitney. On top of that, Chris is the youngest and only boy. I think CH used the word "doting." Doting has a positive connotation, but when Whitney- an educated, independent city girl figures out that "doting" is actually a big expectation in her new job description with Chris, she may feel differently. I wish them the best, but it's going to be tough road imo.

^^Good post, grace8136. It's often mentioned how Whitney's roses were never in question, but I don't think that tells you much when you look at the options this season. Chris didn't have 30 potential wives to choose from. He only had a handful of girls he could even have a normal conversation with. Then they had all kinds of secrets and issues too. One could say Whitney was the perfect choice for him, but she was also the only choice, if getting engaged was the endgame. Maybe they will make it work, but I didn't see any fireworks at the end, so I think it's gonna be an uphill battle.

I think that quote can probably be used every season.
This show is like a game. You are given 25 wild cards. For whatever reason, if the show does not smile on you, your card could be cut the first night. What could have been the best match, may never get past the first night.

I agree it is an uphill battle but for Whit's sake hope it works. I also did not see fireworks at all.

^^True Kasha. Or you may make it all the way to F2 before becoming just another rejected contestant on this show.

Exactly or even F1--Travis and Sarah Stone. PLO and Jen and then Sadie and then back to the dogs!
It's amazing(ahhh mazing) the couple lasts more than a few weeks IRL.
