Whitney came in well prepared. She liked the Chris she saw on Andi's season. She knew JS who no doubt prepared her on how things work behind the scenes. Not that she didn't already know as she is a long time fan and it is all out there in cyber land...and she has admitted that she is a planner. Nothing wrong with that. I also like to have all my ducks in a row. Just because she was prepared does not mean that she wasn't genuine. She said that he lived up to her expectations and if he hadn't, well then she would have had an adventure.

Chris is a farmer....in case you missed it. He farms for a living. He is not a public speaker. I think that was pretty clear. The gift of gab is not his strong suit. He is practical and self aware and clearly no fool based on his business acumen. He knew what he wanted going in and unlike many, he actually picked someone who matched what he wanted. Shocking! Being a farmer does not necessarily foster your romantic side. Farmers need to be practical. He picked what was best for him...not what the audience thinks is best for him. He was there. He lived it....the unedited version.

Admittedly, watching last night was sometimes uncomfortable. I wish Chris was more articulate on the show, but then I re-watched the proposal...alone, on it's own merits, without all the scripted filler that was edited beforehand to confuse....and I watched a bunch of their post show interviews. Upon second viewing of the proposal I saw the genuine, sweet emotion. As I watched the interviews, I noticed that they seemed to be getting more comfortable with each other and opening up. And the more I listened to them, the more I saw a mature couple taking things seriously and planning for their future. No, they were not all over each other as some others have been, but they seemed very grounded and very respectful and caring about each other. Will they make it? We will all have to wait and see, but based on what I have been seeing it makes me very hopeful. That and the fact that apparently they are practicing baby making every chance they get!

No offense, but since someone offered to send me the links, I watched too.  I saw Whitney looking less happy than we saw all season.  I saw her only speak when spoken to and only smile when spoken too.  Once in all the interviews did I see any spontaneous touching and it quickly ended.  

I may have liked Becca all season and still admire her.  But, I have no desire for her and Chris to reunite.  That ship has sailed and if they tried, I would lose respect for her.

I wanted to be happy for the couple.  I learned with Chris and Des, so no matter who I felt about the season or the proposal or anything else, I was prepared to be happy for them on AFTR.  But they weren't happy.  Chris seemed to still touch Becca too long, he did this with Jade too and it is not appropriate for a newly engaged happy man.  He leaned in and seemed to be waiting for Becca to say something to make him feel better.  

But even then, once Whitney came out, their was an odd tension.  They have spent a lot of their alone time, which was very limited with his parents?  Then when JK came out and made the quip about Becca, they instead of laughing it off ad cuddling right back up, stayed very far apart.

I have no ill will to the couple, I think any couple that can make it from this show should be celebrated.  After the finale, I found myself hoping Courtney and Ben might make it and Andi and Josh.  It doesn't matter if they were my choice, if they can survive after the worst courtship ritual in the world then good for them.

I just don't see the happy with Whitney and since it is so very different then the Whitney we saw on the bachelor who everyone said was very genuine, it is odd to me. I hope that it gets better.  I think DWTS is not a good step. I wish he was focusing on Whitney with an H not the one without an H.  I also think if they survive his time on DWTS, they have a good chance.

I will say I am rather amazed that everyone wants to put anything Becca down to editing and TPTB, but then give Chris full credit for every Whitney date.  Either he had nothing to do with most of it, or he was more involved in all of it.  I don't think magically that Whitney's were the only dates that Chris had any say in.  That just doesn't make sense.

I also hope someone smacks Chris in the head and tells him to back off on the how it wasn't Whitney until his family helped him chose or how he was certain once Becca didn't cry at FRC stuff.  Whitney is your fiance, focus on telling us how much you love her and how wonderful the journey with her was.  Becca isn't his concern anymore, Whitney is, so start focusing in your interviews and such on how much you enjoyed Whitney.

I want that for Whitney. She may have annoyed me on tv, but seeing that gone was sad and if that is the real her, then I am sad that this relationship seems to be quenching that part of her personality.
