I'm waiting to see his voice inflections and if he brushes off Ashley when she tries to grab his arm, etc. We won't know til then. Silence is not what I referred to. Somewhere in an article on the net (sorry, maybe someone can find it?), it said that Ben was mad and basically 'storms off'. I'll wait to see before I get into debate over it.

We are all entitled to post our interpretation and opinions, too. Thanks for yours.

Ashley grabs his hand and helps him up.

Ashley says “You’ve got to know this is so hard for me”

Ben “Wow. I did not see this coming”.

Ashley is silent.Ben “So that’s it, huh?”

Ashley still remains silent.
Ben walks away from Ashley. Ashley chases after him. She catches up to him.

Ashley says: “ I’m so blessed to have even known you”

Ben keeps walking. Ashley grabs his arm.

Ashley “I think you are the most interesting, funny, great guy”

Ben says “I don’t need you to sugar coat anything right now. Please don’t. It’s bad enough I just was at a point that I could open up, and to have it turn out like this..I’ve always said NOTHING GOOD EVER ENDS WELL. This can’t end well. It can’t”

He walks away without saying good-bye. He did not take it well. He was bitter.

So Ashley's silences are acceptable, Ben's silence is not? Ashley's mishandling of some of the other goodbyes is forgiven, Ben's raw reaction to having his proposal of marriage rejected is not? Seems like a cupcake-induced double standard to me....?
Isn't it also entirely possible that what might be interpreted by some as anger w/ Ashley is more anger at himself for giving himself over to this process? I still say Ben was unprepared for TB world.... I kinda hope he keeps far, far away from it.
Re: Reid and CL.... kudos to them. They were awesome. I'm still not sure how I feel about Jason....

I bet it was incredibly hard for both of them.

For Ashley- How do you tell someone you care about that you’re in love with someone else?
For Ben- How are you supposed to handle that when you expected a completely different response?

More importantnly, I’m glad Ben is moving on. They are better off as friends for sure.

I know someone mentioned seeing a commercial with both Ben and JP purposing to Ashley. Does anyone have a link to watch it? I have not seen it yet.

JP is a very confident guy. I can see where it would come off as cocky to some people but I've been around enough athletes to tell you what cocky is, and it ain't JP. I hope they have a big NYC wedding. I think Ali and Roberto will do the beach so I'd like to see something different but Jash says beaches are their thing...... Bet they have more fun in Fiji this time around

In the Philly interview, Ash listed her first turnoff as arrogance.

JP is one of the most real guys ever to have had any interaction with this ridicluous show.
The moment he stepped out of the limo and told Ashley it was just him and no props I knew- this dude is not just here for kicks. He's really going to give Ashley a fair shot at love. And he didn't dissapoint.

By far, this is the most real season i have ever watched. The next bach/ette have big shoes to fill.

I agree, it must have been difficult for both. But Ashley was not leaving Fiji alone - Ben was, though he didn't know it at the time. I still say the burden of compassion/empathy lay on her. Do I wish Ben could've been as forgiving as Reid? Certainly. But frankly I was shocked by the near-poetry of Reid's exit... he was really something. But it is unfair to compare.... each F2 brought different life experiences (incl. wounds) and different psyches to the FRC......jmho

Ben will understand after this i think, in the moment it hurts but he'll be ok
and i agree that he was so sure that he'd be final one that's why he was so shocked

Yes, we need to see exactly how this plays out, because the words Ben says can come across differently depending on his tone. However, I still feel that while everyone is free to react to heartbreak in their own way (as long as no violence is involved of course), how they react gives insight into either their character, or their real emotions, or both. In Ben's case, not being able to muster much graciousness, as appears to be the case at the very least, to me speaks not so much to his character (although I don't think he has the emotional maturity of a Reid or a Jason), but to a combination of his overconfidence and somewhat to a lack of real depth of feelings for Ashley. For all the talk of JP and his supposed competitiveness, I think ultimately Ben ended up dealing with it (albeit unconciously) more like a competition, assumed he had it "in the bag", and then got upset when he lost the prize. But I think by that point, for him, the act of losing was of more concern than the welfare of the prize.

Could have been editing, I realize.... and/or her overcompensating and not wanting to make her preference of JP too obvious. But I did wonder if that was part of the reason Ben felt he had an edge....???

I'm not convinced Ben was "competing". I just tend to think he too got sucked up into some fairytale dreaming.... till the bubble burst. But I appear to be in the minority so I'll hush up now. :missspeak:

It's so funny because if you go back and watch the F2 rose ceremony toast with Ali, Chris, and Roberto, I thought she focused and turned toward Chris the most.....At that point, I really thought for a second that maybe F1 was Chris to be honest.

I do agree though....She definately seemed to only be speaking to Ben during the toast. I did notice that. :Nod:
