JP is a very confident guy. I can see where it would come off as cocky to some people but I've been around enough athletes to tell you what cocky is, and it ain't JP. I hope they have a big NYC wedding. I think Ali and Roberto will do the beach so I'd like to see something different but Jash says beaches are their thing...... Bet they have more fun in Fiji this time around :tackle:

JP is one of the most real guys ever to have had any interaction with this ridicluous show.
The moment he stepped out of the limo and told Ashley it was just him and no props I knew- this dude is not just here for kicks. He's really going to give Ashley a fair shot at love. And he didn't dissapoint.

By far, this is the most real season i have ever watched. The next bach/ette have big shoes to fill.

Ben is adorable and when he said JP is the "safe" choice didn't he mean it'd be less change for Ashley in geography and flexibility? Ben knows he's tied to the winery. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt instead of using the lack of maturity approach. However, I'm way older than him and part of me will never "mature" but would like to give away some of the parts of me that have! It does appear that JP and Ashley are a great couple whichs is fun.

I'm also "way older" than Ben, and I'm sure that's the reason I'm more uncomfortable than many viewers with Ben's video that was leaked. I'm not making a judgment here, just commenting on the generation thing. My daughter, who is much closer to Ben's age, thought the video was hilarious. So when I saw how swiftly ABC got that video "recalled", I wondered if they were thinking of viewers like me, and wanted to be sure no doors were closed on the possibility of Ben being the next bachelor.

I haven't been on the board much in the last few days and hadn';t heard about a leaked video??? Can I see it somewhere, or was there a discussion going on about it in another thread??? so curious

Apparently the video was posted on RS's blog, we also had it here, but ABC legal asked everyone who had the video posted to remove it from their blogs, forums. So it is no longer available for viewing.

I never viewed it as we are not allowed to go to You Tube at work, it was gone by the time I tried at home. From what I understand it was spoof rap video called Cream Dreams or some such. Ben wore the wig that he debuted at the HTD (SC around here somewhere). Most thought it was pretty funny, some thought it was crude. It apparently showed a completely different side of Ben than what the edit is showing.

thanks for the recap Can't say I'm surprised though.... boys will be boys I guess .... but I'd hope a grown man wouldn't be doing something like that. Kind of gives us an idea about his maturity level.

It is true that New Yorkers are very straightforward and tell you what they think. When I moved out to Los Angeles in 1980 with my then husband, I had a lot of trouble adjusting. For one thing, everyone made fun of my accent. The people out here are very different and didn't like my honesty and forthrightness. I don't miss New York anymore that much, but I really miss the people! I love how they just tell it like it is. What is funny is that if someone is really friendly out here, then everyone says they can't be from L.A.! They are friendly on the surface, but in New York people will give you the shirt off their back if you need it.

That's probably the reason I loved JP right from the beginning. He was so real to me. He reminded me of what I miss about people in New York. I see JP as confident but never cocky or arrogant. I really love watching his eyes. He tried to keep the expression on his face more inscrutable and unreadable at times, but if you look at his eyes, it's all there. You can see his mind working all the time, thinking and watching and taking in everything. You can also see his intelligence, his wit and his heart. That's how I was able to read him.

As far as Ashley's sister, I think it was inexcusably rude for her to get in his face when she first met him. It's ill-mannered and just not appropriate. I don't know if it was producer manipulation or cluelessness on her part, but I just don't understand how anyone can make an instant judgement about someone. I could see her sister talking to Ashley privately later on about how she felt, but I see no reason for her to say it to JP's face. That will be hard to watch. I am sure he never saw it coming. Of course, we know that everything worked out fine in the end, but that could only have added to JP's stress and worry. My sister would never act that way about anyone I dated or wanted to marry.

The editing on this show leaves A LOT to be desired and things that don't fit into the storyline that MF and his minions have for the lead and each contestant aren't shown.


Chris L was very irritated with the way the show portrayed his mother's death and his reaction to it. The show made it seem like this was all he talked about. And poor Emily had the personality edited right out of her to support the "delicate Southern flower" storyline.



So I'm not surprised to find out that Ben has a very goofy, silly and fun side. Ashley made reference to it several times in her blogs but we didn't get to see it much because that didn't support his storyline.

You've got THAT right!!!! The thing is that when the editing is that far off, it usually means that there is no real lovestory. I, for one, am totally disappointed in the editing, of the Show.

If there's no real love story this season, then hold on to your hats folks, because we've just seen the debut of the new Meryl Streep and Robert DeNiro!! :giggle:

1) JP and Ashley will probably hang out most with Ashley Spivey and her b/f Scott.

2) JP is not cocky. My eastcoast b/f has the same attitude and personality, and I'm from the south, and simply adore his honesty and no b/s. It's passion and sincerity and honesty.

3) I want Ben as the next bachelor, so I can see him rap in his favorite wig. I just hope he washes it first.

4) Perhaps the biggest surprise and MF "OMG" tweet was Ben is one with the temper tantrum when he threw his little hissy fit. If that happens, it's just not very gracious. Even Reid, kicked to the curb twice, kissed Jillian's hand as she walked him off the podium. Jason, had tears in his eyes, but wished DeAnna the best. I make no excuses for Ben's behavior, sorry.

Welcome BachfanNY!!! :smileywelcome: ITA with every word. No props, no promoting his 'job', no bull$hit, right from the get go and he never waned from being a real good guy, who couldn't contain his love and happiness to have found Ashley.
She is his sweet breath of fresh air ~ he is her rock and security ~ togther they have the greatest love ever shown on this show.

Much happiness and love always, JP and Ashely. You found love in spite of this show, not because of it. You met because of it, and had to endure manipulation and fake scripted drama, and came thru like champs, because that's what real love is all about.

In all my years, I've never understood why a person has to be gracious about being humiluated. It just never made to sense to me.

Great post, Gina, and I agree with you, in that the men who really impress me are the ones like Reid and Jason, who can still muster up enough compassion for a woman they claimed to be in love with enough to want to marry just a few moments prior, to be gracious, even if it kills them.

I think our greatest affirmation will come on the BB following the finale, when I'm sure all the sleazoids there will applaud Ben for his actions. Anytime I'm on the opposite side from that crew in my views about relationships, I feel pretty good about myself and my judgment.

Ben “Wow. I did not see this coming”.

Ashley is silent.Ben “So that’s it, huh?”

Ashley still remains silent.
Ben walks away from Ashley. Ashley chases after him. She catches up to him.

Ashley says: “ I’m so blessed to have even known you”

Ben keeps walking. Ashley grabs his arm.

Ashley “I think you are the most interesting, funny, great guy”

Ben says “I don’t need you to sugar coat anything right now. Please don’t. It’s bad enough I just was at a point that I could open up, and to have it turn out like this..I’ve always said NOTHING GOOD EVER ENDS WELL. This can’t end well. It can’t”

He walks away without saying good-bye. He did not take it well. He was bitter.

So Ashley's silences are acceptable, Ben's silence is not? Ashley's mishandling of some of the other goodbyes is forgiven, Ben's raw reaction to having his proposal of marriage rejected is not? Seems like a cupcake-induced double standard to me....?
Isn't it also entirely possible that what might be interpreted by some as anger w/ Ashley is more anger at himself for giving himself over to this process? I still say Ben was unprepared for TB world.... I kinda hope he keeps far, far away from it.
Re: Reid and CL.... kudos to them. They were awesome. I'm still not sure how I feel about Jason....
