- Yeah, I think FB is a little different, because you only friend people that you at least kind of "know". On Twitter, you follow people you know, celebrities, and then randoms, based on what they tweet. So, for example, if Ellen Degeneres said something vulgar and offensive, I wouldn't blame Nick for following her since I know that it's her celebrity that drew him to follow, not her tweets. But, when someone only has 14 followers and has tagged you in a couple of tweets and you follow them, it pretty much means that you are following them because you liked those tweets.


MVMOM - That's a leap ... assumption ...


CP: It's really just common sense. Nick followed this guy at the end of last week. That means there must have been something that drew Nick to this guy's tweets VERY recently. Is it *possible* that Nick was really interested in JoannFox5 or Beau Box, randomly found that guy, and the guy just coincidentally also happened to also tweet disgusting things about Josh/Andi? I suppose. But, like I said, this guy has VERY few followers and almost no retweets/favorites. That means, his tweets aren't going to show up in "top tweets". You would have to REALLY search for him. Unless he tagged you.

Only if he looked at his Tweets & Replies ...

CP: If Nick is tagged in them (which he was), he would see them.
- It's very easy to follow or unfollow. Just a click!

- As far as his other SM mistakes go, I haven't been following it much either. I did hear that he favorited a comment about Josh getting raped and then apologized for it.

CP: I deleted what you said about Nick/Andi pictures and tweets that Nick put out because, like I said, I didn't have a problem with them. I didn't find them disrespectful because other contestants this season did it too. Other people did have a problem with it, that's why I mentioned it.
I think that Nick is just not very Twitter-savvy.

CP: Anyone who is in the public eye knows that their EVERY movement will be noticed and judged. And, yet, Nick chooses to favorite comments about Josh getting raped and follows someone who slut-shames Andi. Even if (BIG IF), he didn't read the tweets fully or didn't understand them, he should know how it would be perceived and be extra careful.  Especially since he already got in "trouble" for it twice.

I'm ready to move on too. I already feel like I've spent too much time on that disgusting man's twitter page, and I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. It personally changed MY mind about Nick, but it doesn't take away from the fact that I enjoyed him during the show.

Chasing ... My issue is the assumption that Nick is following this guy because "he liked those tweets." We have no idea why Nick is following him beyond the fact that the guy tagged Nick in a few tweets. Maybe he is curious why some random guy from Atlanta is being so nasty to the Murray's. Sure it is common sense that those tweets are what clued Nick in to this guy's existence as they don't even live in same region of country.

If Nick favorited the guys tweets, I would think that's being a jerk. Simply following the guy does not mean he is giving his stamp of approval but in fact could be just monitoring.

Ah, gotcha. I guess that is plausible, but it just seems like a stretch to me. There have been SO many negative tweets sent to Josh/Andi about Andi being a sl*t or Josh getting Nick's sloppy seconds. All of the contestants get really nasty tweets from people who obviously have issues. Why choose to "monitor" this person? And, what could Nick even do to monitor the situation? He could report the user to Twitter, but he wouldn't need to follow him to do that.

Like I said before, Nick got "caught" favoriting the Josh getting raped tweet. Therefore, I don't think that he would favorite anything controversial anymore, because he knows that people look at his favorites. I don't think that he realizes that people also look at who he follows.

I don't think it is reasonable to malign anyone's character based on who they follow on twitter, it is impossible to know why people make those choices, could be accident, could be monitoring a psycho, could be someone interesting to that person, could have been someone else who was looking at his phone, I "like" things on my son's instagram - whatever. In the words of my daughter's favorite Disney character from Frozen, "Let it go!" Let's move on to less manufactured scandal if we want to talk scandal. Although I'd prefer to focus on positive Nick stories in the Nick discussion forum, I know not everyone thinks that way. So good to see him tweeting funny stuff tonight! Way to go Nick, keep it up!

and that's great ... I love when the discussion happens ... it means people care, so as long people do continue to care and voice their disagreements or their understandings, opinions, there's a chance someone else's might change ... even if that doesn't mean that it will be the same as yours, mine or others'.

So keep it coming.

One thing that I don't see the same is for example Nick's naivety ... I may give him too much credit and praise his smart-a**, but I don't doubt he knows very good how the whole social media works, he is aware of the impact it has and how it can be used and misused or in other words take advantage of ...
the same goes with the plane video (and I agree with jlccaz about being conscious of the consequences and still going along ... which is totally understandable, that people would dislike him for it) ...

and the beauty of it all is that one's character trait can be perceived as a flaw in someone's eyes and as a strength in someone else's.
It all depends how we react in our lives or how we wish we would.

Ok, playing devil advocate here if Josh or Andi would have followed some random person who is constantly trashing Nick, (I repeat random person) you guys wouldn't side eye them? To me it screams immaturity by Nick following that person it's encouraging trash and hate, but this is only my opinion..

I think not only your opinion because I'm inclined to share it. I think Nick knows from before that interacting with someone who tweeted inappropriate things was noticed and he excused what he did by saying it was a mistake. This time I know Nick has been actively managing his Twitter account because last night he was following 200 and this morning he's following 202, and he's still following this person.

Perhaps Nick followed this user so that he could send him a message that he felt some of his Twitter activity was inappropriate; we can't know if he did or if he didn't. I hope he did that because unless he did I think the user would interpret Nick's "follow" as a sign of approval or encouragement and with only 14 followers I think he would be very well aware of an additional follower.

I am not saying Nick is right for following this individual (who appears to be very vile IMO), but we really don't know the circumstances to judge him.  There appears to be a lot of bad blood this season - more than I have ever remembered and I just wish they and we could move on!

Lucas, gotta say that I think this is a magnanimous reframe. However, I think that if that were true, Nick would have sent the DM and then unfollowed him. More importantly, it's my understanding that in order to send DM's the two individuals have to be following each other. The tweeter in question does not follow Nick. On a different note, it's pretty clear from the tweeting going on last night that there is no love lost between Nick and Marcus.
