I don't think she would in life either, but like I said, she absolutely has no choice but to finish the show the only appropriate way with a ring and engagement.

There has never been a Bachelorette lead who has not received at least one proposal (some two) and all but one have walked away engaged to somebody.  Sadly, there is still a double standard and if the female lead would not end the show engaged, or at least proposed to, I think the press would designate her a LOSER REJECT.  Ridiculous, but it puts added pressure on Andi not to be the first to get that title.  So yeah, I agree with Alanna somewhat that she will take Nick (who she actually does really care for IMO, and would have gotten engaged to for sure had Josh not been in the cast) to the FRC.  As to letting him propose, it's not her decision, the producers have to LET her send him home early, and I seriously doubt they did, considering this has become the "Everybody Hates Nick" show and they want him humiliated.

I seriously don't watch many seasons. So, my question is, can the bachelorette start talking before the F2 proposes? I mean can she spare him from proposing? Or will TPTB not allow that scenario?

She can, she can!!! (yelling at the lead here  ) But they don't.

It frustrates me to no end that when the guy comes up they just stand there silent! The worst was Deanna when she kept silent the whole time and literally let Jason get down on one knee. She had to help him back up. Horrible!

Just wanted to add, i think that TPTB encourage them to stay silent. But its horrible, they should put their foot down and take the guy out of his misery. I know Ashley tried to speak first when Ben, her F2 came. But in her defense, he was so confident he interrupted her and didn't let her do the deed until it was too late, he had already poured his heart out.

In the olden days, they always let the female lead speak first and let the F2 down easy, but that changed with Deanna (or was it Jenn?). I think they tell the women all kinds of crap, like that they need to let the guy propose because it will seal the deal for him to be offered the next Bachelor and whatnot. Since they haven't had a double proposal since Ashley's (3 seasons ago), I'd be surprised if they let Andi off the hook on this one.

Well, unless Nick is a good actor, and the Nick airplane video, is a hoax, he never mentions proposing. And, in that video he doesn't sound like he's one humiliated dude. And, sounds like he is recovering well, based on SM, etc. But, ya, it looks like we may have to watch him propose on TV.

I felt the ones they've allowed the lead to let go ahead of time are the ones that had meltdowns due to one of the ones they liked left the show such as Ali/Frank & Des/Brooks. The only way I see them letting Andi let the F2 go this time is if the death of Eric is still affecting her. Also if she lets Chris go early then I really doubt she'd let F2 go but who knows she could be ready for meltdown.
