I feel like I'm and I know Des is now with Chris. Truth be told I really like Chris and I'm hoping they will have a wonderful life together. I think he wanted Des in spite of the feelings he knew she had for Brooks. Don't you think Chris also suspected Brooks was Des' F1? ...I still believe if there had been more time and not the pressure of a proposal we might have a different ending....JMO. It may be true that Chris is a better fit for Des and she got what she wanted, a proposal and someone that loves her just as much, probably more than she loves him.
Regarding the bolded, didn't Brooks suspect that Chris was Des' F1??? He said that he noticed the way Des always looked at Chris, especially during RCs. I think that it's why Brooks was so surprise that Des was declaring all that love for him. It was always going to be Chris as F1.

That makes sense to me as well 2observe. I thought that the reason why Brooks was surprised at her saying the ILY is because he always knew what he felt for her and could see her and Chris's connection. Therefore, why would he stay when he seriously thought he wouldn't be F1.

Des also said that it wasn't until after Brooks left that she was able to evaluate the other relationships (meaning the other relationships were in not first in her mind) which, to me, means Brooks was F1 until he left. I know others disagree, and that's fine. I believe Chris loved her all along, but Des didn't really fall in love with Chris until the show was over and Brooks was out of the picture.

Forgive me, but the show wasn't over when Brooks was out of the picture, it was still going. Yes, I am one that never saw the connection between Brooks and Des. I did see her paying a lot of attention to Chris in group situations, and as such did see more of a connection between Des and Chris than with Brooks. Brooks was an infatuation, and obviously one that he didn't share either. He never really was interested in Des. IMO, he basically led Des on and I think that is one of the reasons why Harrison and producers didn't take kindly to Brooks.

Sorry, I generally lurk over here but just had to comment on the bolded. Respectfully disagree...and I am not really a fan of Brooks, Chris or Des. I do think Brooks was interested in her and I really don't see how exactly he led her on. He liked her, explored the relationship, wasn't satisfied with it and told her the truth when he realised his feelings weren't on par with hers. How is that leading her on? And besides, Des was busy leading everyone on. As for the producers, looking at the edit, they didn't really take kindly to anyone this season...including Des, so again, I don't see how Brooks is any different. no idea

I tiotally agree. In my opinion, Brooks was F1 all along. She had already had her FDs with both Chris and Drew when she declared on the beach before Brooks' FD that if Brooks got down on one knee and proposed she would say "yes." That is just one example It could not be any clearer. Had Brooks felt the same way, I am sure their FD would have sealed the deal, and she would have told him how she felt.

Sure, I think he really liked her, and loved many things about her, but realized he just couldn't fall totally in love in the timeframe for the show, and certainly could not end up proposing at the end. He didn't lead her on. He went through the process just like all of the other guys that were there with an open heart.

I don't think he led her on, AT ALL, either. I don't doubt he had feelings for her and wanted it to work out. If he was as honest as he was when he left, he would have left way sooner if he had no feelings for her at all, or not even bothered coming on the show if he wasn't open to starting a relationship. He was emotional about it when he left, and he was emotional at the AFR. He just realized it wasn't love.

Good post. You said it better than I did and covered more ground. The way that Brooks was different is that rather than go through the rest of the show, including a FD that many have and would have gone on regardless, knowing his feelings weren't of the level needed to propose to someone, he was honest and forthright about those feelings.

To clarify my post, IMO, Des did not fall in love with Chris until after the show was over and she had time to spend with him while it began airing. I think she liked Chris a lot when she accepted his proposal, but IMO she wasn't over Brooks yet. She had basically a week to decide what to do with the rest of her life, and Chris was there waiting. When I said she didn't fall in love until Brooks was out of the picture, I mean that the show was over and she realized there was no chance she would be continuing a relationship with him because she chose to accept a proposal. Chris is a nice guy, stable guy, and if she was attracted to him then she probably thought better than to let him get away since Brooks didn't work out. I think she was still uncomfortable talking with Brooks at the AFR, so I think it's going to take a long time for her to completely get him out of her mind. And I'll end by saying I don't know any of them, and this is just my opinion.
