Re: Brooks Forester - Bachelorette 9 - Fan Thread - Discussion #5
Sometimes I wonder what would have happened had he not broken his finger- would he had reached the conclusion earlier that Des was not the right fit for him and left earlier? Or would he been able to fall in love with Des more as he would have been more focused on the process and Des and not distracted by the pain and meds. I do think that this show is not for everyone - especially a thinker like Brooks but at least he did try it and I think he did gain a lot in the process.Adele1117 wrote:Like I said, the only thing he got off this show (plus some experiences) was a messed up finger.

As did I, including all the things you listed. It was during his HTD that it really became apparent to me that they weren't in the same ballpark. The more I've gotten to know Brooks post-show, the more I see that the guy is a lot to handle: he is constantly going, doing, active. He is a lot more of a thinker and wittier than we were shown on the show. I think it would take a lot to challenge his mind. "Can she hang with you, bro?" was a serious question from brothers who know him well.freelancergirl wrote:It's funny to consider that early spoiler from the housekeeper in Antigua now...that Des was sad after the final shoot and not at all looking like someone who was ready to get married. I ignored that aspect of the spoiler bc it didn't support my theory that he came back and all was well, but now, of course it makes sense. Poor Chris. He seems like a good dude, and regardless of whatever happiness she's trying to project (and I don't think all of it is make-believe), he really got the short end of the stick. The housekeeper's account of Des's mood confirms a bit to me that the producers talked her into the ending.
Brooks seems happier now, and I agree with those who say she wasn't for him. As the episodes progressed, I started to wonder what she brought to the table for him. Which isn't to disparage Des, only to say that I understood partially why he wasn't clicking with her. A simple example is how she'd never been out of the country, while he has really explored the world. Of course, this example alone doesn't make or break whether or not someone falls in love with another, but I started to see how Brooks might be looking for something different. Des hasn't gone to college; Des isn't close with her family. I understand how this could hold him back because they'd hold me back too. (Again, I'm not disparaging Des, just stating facts.) Des herself said she just wants a simple life. I think Brooks wanted/wants more, and he wanted/wants more out of love too. I think he was shocked (rightfully so) at how casually she turned around and declared her love for Chris, which only further proved to him that she wasn't right for him: he wants someone who values "I love you" as much as he does. Whether or not it was producer manipulated or rebound-driven or even truly honest, Des told two guys she loved them within a week. I think for Brooks, that was the final nail in the coffin -- no thought of reconciliation after she was so frivolous with something he holds dear.
All I can say is whoever ends up with him is lucky.
I still wonder why Brooks unfollowed Des on Twitter after the show. I don't buy that it's out of respect for Chris. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. My other theories are that it's because she so casually went from him to Chris, or maybe that he read that Tweet she favorited that was negative about him. Brooks seems like a very sensitive guy. He expects to be treated well—or else.

As for Desiree, I think she is great for him. I thought he looked so happy and she did bring a lot to the table. But, that's just me.
Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion. Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

I have noticed that Brooks keeps is real, not only on the show, but now on Twitter, and it gets him in trouble on there. More than once now someone has attacked him, and he's pointed it out to all his followers (which I think takes guts). He's unwilling to be anything other than 100% genuine, even if that makes him a mis-fit for a situation.isittrue wrote:Sometimes I wonder what would have happened had he not broken his finger- would he had reached the conclusion earlier that Des was not the right fit for him and left earlier? I think it is Jonathan. He gave credit to someone in the Instagram thread. I think it might've been him. It was a friend of his.atem wrote:Yay! Love the pics he put up, but BOO! on him using some filter on them!Adele1117 wrote:Brooks' Instagram:

No wonder he tweeted about not tweeting. Ha. Could someone ask him who took the pics? I wonder if it was Jonathan Craft? He said they should go on a hike again.

no atem, that isn't just you. I also thought they complimented each other... personally I wouldn't want someone just like me. :Nod:atem wrote:I saw that he's following some Outside Magazine people. Do you think that was for a shoot? That would be awesome, if so!

Thank you!lorijbaker wrote:She did say the home they filmed in in Salt Lake was not one of the families, just a place big enough so they could all fit. Funny how they always lead you to believe that they are at their home.
This was sleuthed out by some prior to his HTD being aired and due to the prospective horrified backlash we just kept our dam* mouths shut.

The expectation at the end was a proposal and that's where I think he started to become conflicted and apprehensive. He knew what Des was looking for and saw that there were two other guys still in the picture. As much as we could see how she truly felt about Brooks, I don't think he knew it. I think there was genuine surprise from him when he saw the depth of her feelings at the end.
OK so maybe I'm . The ending left me with many questions that I will never have the answers to. What I wouldn't give have those questions answered.

Kasha, were both houses - the SLC and "Boise" setups - rented? The ID one also had that same "rental house" furniture thing going.

What I am trying to say is exactly what I posted---things are sleuthed out and not posted in order to defer what was caused by singling me out with the bolded.Rolly wrote:The fact that they didn't meet in a family members house for the HTD didn't bother me in the least. What difference does this possibly make? With that big of a family makes total sense they would need something very big to fit all the people and the camera crew. Great job with the sleuthing...there would be no "horrified backlash" as far as I'm concerned.

Sushi--I will contact you via pm! :Biggrin:sushifan wrote:Those recent Instagram pics look like a photo shoot to me. Wonder if he's going to parlay the TV exposure into more modeling work? Makes sense.
