I guess whoever gets that 'forever' ring is F2. If that's Brooks...ugh.
Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion. Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

See my avi. He's an onion, and once the layers are stripped by Des, his heart is gonna come tumbling out.
Heya ac! I totally agree. That man doesn't even know he's in love - despite his total breakdown! That man is SO in love! I wish I had recorded it in close caption because I could hardly understand their dialog. I've always found Brooks hard to understand (his words), and tonight was worse than ever most of the time. Des WILL get her happy ending. There is no way she could pick Chris or Drew - she is totally in love with Brooks. And because she's an honorable woman, I don't believe for a minute that she would do that to either of them!
I have to admit that was a very draining and intense "date". Chris Harrison was right FOR THE FIRST TIME - it was the most dramatic episode by far that we've ever had on this show.
I am most sad for Drew because that man loved her with his soul, and I can see why he says "I don't get it!", totally stunned. As for Chris, I think he knows Des would not be happy in Seattle, and that's a tie-breaker for him, though Des will take him to F2. Sorry, Chris lovers, though he's a nice guy, he leaves me totally bored. And I'm sorry that MF has overused the poetry stuff, once was nice but this has been way overboard even for romantic me. Just my thoughts.

Watching Drew's and Chris' heartbreak next week will make me understand what Brooks wanted to avoid. He had no idea how Des felt. Some say it's better to have love and lost then to never have loved. Easy to say hard to live. Brooks might just be cautious that way. Who'd want to feel what Drew and Chris feel next week? Not me. Never do I want to feel that kind of rejection no matter the gamble. Also, NEVER do I want to be someone's second choice in one week. NEVER!
See I feel if he really did love Des (which he said he did not), he'd take the risk because she was worth it. I think he pulled out because he wasn't sure of his feelings but he wasn't willing to let it play out like CH suggested. I'd have been more impressed if he had.

But that is what this show is about and everyone who has genuinely loved thru all the seasons has gone thru it....even though they don't know if their love is returned. They took the risk of rejection. Brooks made it absolutely clear tonight he is not in love and has no intention of taking any risks. Why would he? He does not love Des.

albean,
That was what I found interesting regarding the bolded. At one point CH did suggest that he might want to take this time with the FD to be with Des and talk to her and sort out his feelings. He just put it out there! Exactly what some of us have been saying here. Why not take this precious alone time to at least give it a chance?

may not be the most popular sentiment but...
he backed out of the chance to see how the date would go because if he took the chance and fell more in love with her, and she let him go like Zak, he was not sure he could take that. so the next best thing is to say that you're not sure that you are in love enough, that although there are things that you really love about Des, you're just not sure that you love her enough... all the excuses to keep himself protected from those feelings of abandonment that being rejected again could bring up. and I believe that Brooks convinces himself of this, that he just doesn't "love" Des like she deserves to be loved, that he can't give her what she wants. in a round about way, he put on the bravado face and said he was trying to protect Des from further hurt, but in reality it was his heart he is trying to protect.
he'll be back with full realization of his feelings and he will find a way to convince Des, and the us that he means it. perhaps it starts at the FRC, but does not end until the ATFR. I just know I am looking forward to next week.

If Brooks is back just to get turned down, TPTB did hold him at gunpoint, just to make it look like the F1 is not a default.

Both Chris and Drew had roses. Drew's roses were on the bed while Chris had roses by the pool. Who knows what Brooks would have had in his fantasy suite since we didn't see it?
Drew had the roses on the bed?
That would be a big surprise, if he's Final 1 (although I would like that myself).
Yes and he even mentioned it .
I think he must be a FORT member and thought he realized the significance.
Wasn't he the one that took her away from the date location to kiss her up against a wall?? we know he watched Arie and Em on their date too. I chuckled at that. Maybe he thought he'd get the music playing in the background of Gloriana's "I should have Kissed you" (pushed you up against the wall)

I so agree, later. Brooks is petrified of being rejected. His father leaving when he was young and having no relationship with him. If posters are correct on this board, his girlfriend of 5 years cheating on him causing their breakup. I think he knew he loved her and felt relatively certain that it was reciprocated by Des, but just couldn't stand the thought of being rejected. The Zak cut was a wakeup call to him that he could get blindsided in this. When he said "I don't think he saw it coming", he realized that if Zak could be fooled into believing she was falling for him, that could easily be him with false feelings of comfort in their relationship. That's when things started to fall apart. Throughout talking to her he was totally conflicted because he did care for her and knew he could be making a big mistake. When she told him she loved him, he asked, "why didn't you tell me that?". Because he knew if she had he would never have gone.
Before everyone starts in on him. This show is difficult to say the least for most everyone that comes on the show. Most that go on don't really think they will find love on the show and are surprised when they do. They find it difficult to navigate in this "unreal" world. I think Brooks was very surprised that he had such strong feelings for Des and if they had met in the "real" world would not have had this huge glich in their relationship.

There is no way there will be another ending or they would have edited differently and not left so many comments in about how he is the only one she wanted. Saying " It's over for me" then choosing Drew or Chris and getting engaged to one of them would ring untrue now.
Brooks will return and propose -
The reasons why are in question though.
A few days not a enough time to have clarity on your true feelings and return and genuinely propose to a girl you said you were not in love with a week earlier .
