Imagine you're Fleiss. :vomit: Sorry. Anyway, it's May 2013, and you're unhappy about the whole lawsuit with RS, and RS himself. Then the ending of The Bachelorette doesn't go normally at all, which actually is a good thing. Hmmm - kill 2 birds with one stone? What are Bachelor/ette fans always clamoring for? The romantic return of a favorite who left, the person who realized what they lost. How can that be made into a frenzy? Plant fake spoilers that the person who left is F1. Start up the season like normal, and let the excitement build about the spoiled F1. Then BAM! Everything the fans thought was true is now up in the air. We might not even see Brooks' face next week. But look at the anticipation about whether or not he does return. More people will be tuning in because only a handful of people know for sure what does happen. And if the spoilers are wrong, the egg on RS's face will be the best egg ever.

Amen to the bolded...I understand that feeling. As far as spoilers being wrong, it will set a new precedent where we do need to go back to the old fashioned sleuthing methods that so many on here are great at!!northernviewer wrote:nd4reality wrote:northernviewer wrote:If the spoilers are wrong, MF will have pulled off a really big coupe.....how awesome would that be?? Sleuthers would be out in full force next season if this is the case
For 1 season perhaps and then back to square 1. Lets wait to see how monday pans out before we decide on how to sleuth the next season though.
I hope for wrong spoilers every season, not because I don't want the season to end the way it's predicted to... I just want to go back to not knowing and/or having doubts. And more than anything.. I want RS to be wrong, wrong, wrong!!!

ABSOLUTELY, and I am looking forward to it happening one of these days..if not this season, then maybe, just maybe, he'll be able to pull one over RS and do it!!yrkiemommy wrote:northernviewer wrote:If the spoilers are wrong, MF will have pulled off a really big coupe.....how awesome would that be?? There would definitely be a "Kaboom" tweet from Fleiss.

I totally agree. I really don't understand how the epiphany thing is only going to work one way, meaning Brooks for Des. Why can't she have one towards one of the two remaining guys. Obviously they get LCD's and obviously she seems pretty happy, so if Brooks is gone, it appears that she did move on.beader wrote:All I can say is that if Brooks can have an epiphany and realize he actually loves Des, couldn't Des have an epiphany and realize she loves Chris--or Drew? I don't understand how there is enough time for Brooks to realize who he needs and loves but not enough time for Des to realize what she needs and loves.

Regarding what does happen, I think it goes something like this: she curls up in the fetal position for a few days (stolen from another poster), decides to go on the dates with the other guys, opening her heart completely to them to see what happens. Chris goes first and he handles the situation perfectly, totally understanding and supportive, and he brings her back to joy. Date with Drew isn't anywhere close and she's been through too much to continue the date. Chris proposes. Other details TBD but that's my prediction.

I do, too.
It seems as he developed from embryo, fetus, baby and to grown adult his skeleton system never completely developed and solidified. He has failed to completely develop a spine! And now as full adult male it seems he has pasta spine syndrome! One of the main symptoms is being mealy mouthed and tends to wishy washiness, can be found primarily moving from job to job and living with family.
WOW! I can understand that you don't like him but that is pretty low when you don't even know him.
My post has nothing to do with whether or not I like him. Rarely do I get that far with any of the cast, as you are right, I don't know them. I say rarely, as some I do get to know.
So to say I don't like him, is an incorrect interpretation, I don't care either way enough to like or dislike him as he and I do not have a relationship. My postings are a commentary on my opinion based on what I do know about him and see on my screen. I am not the first to call him wishy washy--CH did himself.
When you make the choice to put yourself out there--you are a target for all kinds of snark and opinions.
As far as being "low", believe me I have restrained myself this season on all fronts. I think I deserve kudos for behaving!!!
I didn't appreciate how she described Brooks, either. I somehow don't think she's accurate since she doesn't even know him, and even if she was I don't think it's very nice.
I think Brooks showed great backbone by having the guts to think, having the strength to decide he was going to leave and having the guts, again to follow through with it and the strength to not let her or his own still strong feelings sway him from his course—because she did try in her way, to sway him. I know that I would've had a very hard time doing what he did. He had more backbone than I would've had.
Now, will he continue to show himself well the next episode (if at all?) I hope so.
Hmm...seriously? Now I'm supposed to post with the bottom line being whether it is considered "nice". I never read that one in the site rules. I best go back and check for the updates. I may have missed the "vue". BTW--my accuracy is very good. Very.

MiaHawk wrote:I think Brooks gave his feelings a lot of thought prior to this week's FDs. He knew he liked Des, enjoyed Des, loved certain qualities of Des, BUT he was not IN love with Des. I give him credit for coming to that realization. It is the same analysis that Des has been going through with each of her rejected men---they are great guys with great qualities on paper and in person, BUT "it" just is not there. She has to essentially break up with guys who are fantastic men, men who have not done anything wrong, who will make incredible husbands and fathers someday, simply because "it" is not there. It is a difficult thing to do, especially when the guy (or in this case, Des) does not see it coming.
I don't fault Brooks for dreading his conversation with Des. I feel he wanted to let her down gently, see her move on to further pursue relationships with Drew and Chris, and get her happy ending because he thinks she is a great person. He wasn't expecting her to be shattered by his confession of not being in love with her. When he said it was the worst day of his life, I believe that was his guilt over making Des cry and breaking her heart. He was the cause of her pain, and that was difficult to process.
When he said he missed her already, didn't want to leave her, and something to the effect that he wanted to say he loved her, I believe this was because he was putting a permanent end to a nice relationship with a great girl, he wanted to help ease her pain, and he wished he didn't have to put her through all of that. It was gut-wrenching for him to have to see her in so much pain. All of his struggles and emotions are understandable up to this point.
If it had ended right here, I would argue with Kasha that Brooks does have a backbone, and I would wager a bag of fig newtons (or the snack of her choice) that an xray would prove that. However, the buzz around this show leads us to believe that Brooks doesn't stand up straight and just walk away. The buzz suggests he returns due to an epiphany. I don't believe an epiphany of this magnitude can occur in a few days.
I believe he is still mired in guilt and shame for hurting a great girl so much, wanting to "make it all better" for her, that he convinces himself that the best thing to do is return, explain his confusion, ask her for more time together, and tell her that he missed her so much in the past few days that he now knows she is "the one". He missed her so much because he just ended a relationship with a girl who is great on paper for him, somebody with whom he has great chemistry, somebody who never hurt or cheated on him, who he hasn't grown bored with yet. He cannot reconcile walking away from this relationship now that he knows he's hurt her so deeply and how much she does love him, BUT those are NOT good reasons to return.
IF he gave the relationship as much thought and analysis as he claims that he did when he came to the conclusion that he wasn't IN love with Des, what he spoke to his family and to CH about, then his returning is a huge mistake. THIS would be the point in time in which his spine went from bone to spaghetti. He fell apart under the pressure and guilt of breaking Des' heart. He waffled after the fact. The fact that Des announced she was in love with him, should have no influence over whether or not he loves her. It just shouldn't. Mature adults fall in love and have unrequited love all of the time. They deal with it and move on. It is sophomoric for a grown man to suddenly feel IN love with a woman simply because SHE professed her love for him. THAT is the sort of thing that middle school romances are made of. It shouldn't have had a lick of influence over Brooks either being in love or not in love with Des. Know thyself. And this stands true even in this stupid, crazy Bach Bubble. Know thyself.
My personal guess is that Des spends the day following Brooks' breakup curled up in the fetal position. Then she walks around for a day or two with zombie eyes (the lights are on but nobody's home), possibly dismissing 1 or both of her men. At this point TPTB instigate or allow Brooks to see her and speak to her, and he waffles and they come to the conclusion to give their relationship another chance. Possibly with an exchange of a $75,000 Neil Lane ring as a symbol of their commitment to give it a whirl in the real world. Relationships and proposals should be built upon rock (bone) and not sand (spaghetti). I know this is a show with a history of faked proposals, but I really don't want to see another one!
Wow! Excellent post.

I don't really care who the F1 is, or even if there is one, but a huge part of me hopes it's not Brooks just so Reality Steve has to eat a big ol' steaming plate of crow. :eatingcrow:

Me too! That is the silver lining in this (possible) crazy ending!!! I don't see any good option for Des, but I will dance around he house if RS is wrong!

Again - double standard. Guess we should be used to this type of reasoning by now.
I am glad this post was brought up again. It bears repeating.
beader,
You summed it all up beautifully. A double standard and the hypocrisy of not believing that Des could have an epiphany prompted by the one guy she wanted dumping her right before their FD! I don't know that this will happen, but it's just as reasonable, maybe more so, than this idea that Brooks will have an "aha" moment and see the light a few days later.

Since some Brooks fans have been owning CH's description of Brooks as "wishy washy", I thought that it was time to post the dictionary definition of this term. See below.
1. incapable of making firm decisions: changeable or fluctuating in character, especially unable to make firm decisions or develop clear opinions
2. lacking strength or color: weak, lacking taste, or unattractively pale
Synonyms: weak, feeble, indecisive, spineless, flavorless, namby-pamby, spiritless, pathetic, irresolute, ineffectual, ineffective
Oops, there's that word spineless! Among other adjectives. Just wanted to put this out there for clarification.
