If you were Brooks and Des and had to meet in a safehouse every other weekend, would you focus on the here and now or the "worst day of your life"? I doubt they even discuss the show much at all. Previous couples have indicated that as well.

I was actually thinking of Emily today and how she should have done what Brooks did twice but instead smiled fakely, was polite and followed the expected process along 2 really far-fetched engagements.

I am glad that Brooks did what he did.  He really came off all season to me as one of the most genuine contestants ever.  He just also was genuinely not able to fall for the girl that fell for him.

Sad.

Very nice, relaxing and I agree. I have no problem really with Brooks at all. Great guy.

Just rewarched last night's episode. Now I'm back to not being convinced about brooks leaving for good. One minute he's saying he hopes des finds love with Chris and drew and the other he's crying because he doesn't want to go and he misses their time together. And I totally missed the part where he was asking her what he should do, like should he go? Homeboy is confused. I think he loves her and this speed dating process was just not for him.

I know. I missed that part the first time, too. He asked her if he should go home. He wasn't so certain.

Several times he said he didn't want to go. He said that he hadn't expected her to tell him what she did and that made him want to stay and just sit with her and for her not to cry. He even said he was second-guessing himself. It certainly didn't seem done, and the show left it hanging.

He may be back, but will she accept him?

I find it surprising that so many people think that Brooks will return, propose, & then just assume that Des will say yes. It may happen but I think it's very possible that Des will say it's too late. She heard what he said to her so she knows he's not in love with her at the FD so why would she think a few days will change everything? I'm not even sure Brooks will return or propose after everything we saw last night. If he does it's not going to feel real to me. I don't buy that he was just afraid that she didn't love him. He already knew that she was closer to being in love than he was so why would it matter? I have no issue with him not being sure or even leaving but it's the returning that I'd have trouble with if it magically includes a proposal he said he wasn't ready for. I hope that Des really takes time to see what she really wants when the gaga stage goes away. She deserves someone who does love her as much as she loves him. I hope she finds it.

Though I keep going back and forth with the whole brooks coming back to get des theory, I do feel 99.9% sure Des would say yes to giving him a second chance, if not get engaged.

All he needed to hear is that she loved him and everything changed for him. He also thought she conflicted about her feelings with the other 2 guys until she explained she was conflicted because she wanted to give her whole heart to only him. He will be back and he will propose. You don't go thru all that crying and saying you don't want to leave her and not be in love with her. He just needed a jolted but I am sorry it was at the expense of breaking Des heart.

The only thing I can't see as being genuine is a proposal though. Don't agree that that seems plausible after last night.

Weird but truly if that was the assurance he needed, there was no need for him to leave. He will look wishy washy if he comes back in my opinion, right now a lot of folks are hailing him after last night. If he shows up next week as suspected, not sure how the court of public opinion will judge him.

Exactly - he COULD have stayed if there was just doubt about his feelings and explore things further.
But he chose to leave- which brings finality with it .

Des and Brooks are adorable together- but I think Des was way more invested than Brooks .
For whatever reason, Brooks didn't get there with her and that's totally ok.
Brooks a good guy for leaving- would have been way worse farther down the road as Des said
today in her blog.

You cannot force it and this process not meant for everyone.
Hopefully Des in a good place now with it all -

She deserves for her love to be reciprocated equally ... They all do.

Thanks for saying this! You really expressed so many of the things that I am thinking.

In particular, the bolded is really the key.  Some have been saying that he was just unsure because he didn't know if she loved him. But that was not the case!. She told him about running and being at the finish line.  He knew what she felt. So there goes that excuse! That was not the issue. The issue was that he simply didn't have the same feelings as she did. He didn't get to that finish line if I want to use the rather absurd adjectives that they were using.  

If he leaves, then he should stay gone. If he comes back to propose that is going to be absolutely insane and not believable on any level.  He was questioning his feelings for a while and many of us could see it for ourselves. So his decision didn't come out of thin air.  You can't play ping pong with someone else's feelings.  I hope Des does take some time to think this over carefully. Or is she willing to risk going on a rollercoaster of ups and downs? I have said before that I don't think Brooks is a villain. I think he is someone who simply was unable to return the depth and breadth of her feelings.  He's also not ready to make a lifelong commitment. JMO.

So...... just watched Chris FD again and the poem he reads in the FS mentions 'forever' a couple of times. Atem noted in another thread the F2 ring says 'this is forever'.... coincidence?
