I just rewatched last nights episode. Brooks makes several references to being in love and experiencing "pain" when not together. When you add up the questions that his family, mainly his sister asked him on HTD's and what CH asked him to describe love, it seems pretty obvious how this will play out. He tells Des basically the same thing, he isn't experiencing the ache to be with her or the pain of being with out her so he feels it's not true love.. I'll bet'cha he'll be experiencing a lot of "pain" next episode, and that's why he goes back.

I was actually thinking of Emily today and how she should have done what Brooks did twice but instead smiled fakely, was polite and followed the expected process along 2 really far-fetched engagements.

I am glad that Brooks did what he did. He really came off all season to me as one of the most genuine contestants ever. He just also was genuinely not able to fall for the girl that fell for him.

Yeah, he'll experience the pain of loss now that he was always looking for before.

Keep in mind three things:

1. Des sees the show and writes her blog in advance...prior to last night when we all see it. (Usually it's over the weekend.)

2. Producers review her blog and edit it before it goes to people.com. They are an edited version of her words, depending on the picture they want to paint.

3. She has to write the blog from the lens of what was happening at the time of filming...not what is happening now. Her thoughts about both Brooks conversation with his family and Chris H. were from the from the day he broke up with her the beginning of May. Not from watching the show last night like the rest of us.

I'm making no judgement on what she is saying, just want to share the timeframe and lens from which she is speaking.

I found that statement very telling.

I def saw a guy struggling not wanting to hurt her and feeling bad at how devastated she was .
But feeling bad you hurt someone should not be confused with being in love.

Brooks a decent guy. Breaking a girls heart never easy.
When he returns, i would really question if i were Des if it is more out of guilt for leaving than a real revelation of "love " at that point, especially after his talk with CH and his family where he admitted to not being in love with her.

They showed it all to us. We saw him in Utah with a big smile on his face telling us that he is very happy with where this is going and he is closer to marriage than he has ever been in his life.
We see him walking very confidently and with a big smile on his face into the RC.
Zak is eliminated, Des walks him out, and Brooks says, "I don't think he saw it coming". His whole demeanor has changed, he is back to pensive, serious Brooks. The wheels are turning in double time in his mind. I'm sure he came off of his HTD very confident about his feelings for her and her for him. Then he sees Zak being blindsided and he thinks at this point, if she can fool him, she can fool me. He then starts convincing himself that he doesn't care as much for her as he thought he did to give himself an out because he can't bear the thought of getting even more invested in her than he already is only to have the rug pulled out from underneath him. The man truly cares for her, the looks on his face when his mother and sister were talking about her. He was truly conflicted when he was talking to Des. I don't think even he believed some of the words he was saying. He didn't want to leave her and was already missing her. The comment about hoping she had fallen in love with Drew or Chris was an effort to make himself feel better about his decision. If she was in love with Drew or Chris then he had made the right decision in getting out early and saving himself that hurt AND Des would be happy and have what she was wanting. It was part of his rationalization process. I definitely think Brooks will have his moment of clarity.

Hi, I'm new to this thread, being team Drew I've been hanging there more often... But this is more the finale question... I just rewatched last nights episode and notice they never showed significant parts of Drew and Chris's dates.

With Chris there was never the scene in the water with the dolphins or whatever fish it was and with Drew she hasn't had the boat scene. If you go back to the MTA previews they definitely show these scenes being a part of the 2 night finale.

So I wonder if she does move forward with the other two. Has this been discussed?

Tm, I think the date with the stingrays is Chris' Last Chance Date (LCD) so we will most likely see that on Monday. I'm not sure about a boat scene with Drew, but I know we've got scenes with them horseback riding and then the talk where Des is crying and Drew says " I don't get it". Some of us think this is his LCD. I really have no clue how they will show this but that's what I would expect to see.

She obviously tries. But it looks like it doesn't work out for her and Drew, for sure. Chris could make it to the end and beyond. Who knows. Brooks made that decision.

Just rewarched last night's episode. Now I'm back to not being convinced about brooks leaving for good. One minute he's saying he hopes des finds love with Chris and drew and the other he's crying because he doesn't want to go and he misses their time together. And I totally missed the part where he was asking her what he should do, like should he go? Homeboy is confused. I think he loves her and this speed dating process was just not for him.
