I, too, believe that Chris was the one Des chose.  Despite what CH was able to pull out of her re: Brooks, I think Brooks' leaving opens her eyes and helps her realize who was in front of her all along, the guy who wouldn't break her heart (and her FD preview says she wants a guy she can trust her heart with) and the guy who would love her forever.  
This is going to come as a surprise to Jack Benny Fan but we actually agree this season.     I only started reading this season's posts recently but each post JBF has made in the last week, I've nodded my head and said, right on, ITA!   
There have been so many little things that Des has said and done during the episodes that show me she wasn't *as* into Brooks as the edit makes us believe and pushes me towards Chris.  From the get-go it's always been Brooks vs Chris (and I love that they get along so well!).  I think she is at the point in her life and, thanks to her previous boyfriend, knows exactly what she doesn't want to happen in her life, a guy who doesn't speak his feelings and makes her chase him.  She started off the season, knowing what she wants (Brooks), but ended the season with what she needs (Chris).
TPTB have shaken Des to the core with the guys who have left and who have not been there 'for the right reasons' ((puke)) so much that I think she gathers herself together and keeps herself strong.  I think when Brooks leaves, that's the final straw and helps her to realize who was there all along.  
It's funny b/c during Jillian's season I was convinced she chose Ed, following the whole "Twilight" storyline of sticking with the guy you loved who broke your heart and then came back.  This season, though, I believe Des stayed strong to herself and realized who was going to love her and not break her heart...and after some roadblocks, ultimately chose him for F1.

I was just saying on the F1 thread that the VO about wanting to give her heart over to someone who will never break it, sounds like a post Brooks revelation. What I don't understand is how the HTD was pivotal for Chris. It seemed like a set-up for Brooks as F1.

i couldnt agree with you more!! i have thrown the same opinion multiple times, but, as i expected, being laughed at. I can honestly say that there was one and only one true complete love story unfold this season being shown to us, that is a Prince Siegfried-Cinderella Love Story. I personally believe Des was done-deal with Chris after her successful fairy tale date with him on ep.5 (the bolded = her words, not mine! ).i.e., cue: her poem..and sealed her final decision on Chris`s HTD with his fam`s blessing (pivotal, as CH said; Chris is stealing my heart, as per her PI). As for Brooks, well, i hate to say it, i see it no more than the story line they had to bring,- to cover up the real love story-, just as they have done to Ali and Ash with Frank and Bentley saga. Now, i dont say that personality-wise Brooks are in the same category with Frank and Bentley. But story line wise, `he has to` play that role. He left and came back only to be rejected in the end. I am starting to think they thrown him under the bus for whatever reasons. I am certainly not a fan of this heavy manipulated drama of twist and turn in the name of rating! . What is the point of making all of the actors involved can`t leave the show `unscathed`?. Boy, that little devil MF is desperate, for sure...

PS : hey JBF!!. :WAVEY: ..looks like you got more and more partners in crime and/or followers coming out at the end of this season.. .

Flashback to the beginning of the season, on fashion thread, she said to her stylist she wanna looks sexy for the guy he has hot for / she likes the most :halo: . Added to this, her sexy dress on her Munich date with Chris, and barely naked on the yacht in Medeira,  makes me wanna go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... :whistle:
