I saw how happy Brooks was on that HTD.  I think it's strange that the show doesn't let the people say anything and we have to rely on Chris Harrison to spin what happened and have no way for Brooks to say anything.

Brooks made it clear that he ENJOYED their dates and the time he was with her.  But he also was terribly clear to Des that when they were apart there was nothing there.  So, yes, he WAS happy on his HTD -- Des happened to be there as well -- your eyes were not deceiving you.

Then Brooks, who over analyzes everthing starts thinking, I must be wrong about what I'm feeling for Des.

When he realizes that this conversation is leading to a goodbye, he starts changing his tune "i didn't know if you were conflicted...I don't want to leave you..."

And as far as Brooks saying that he was hoping Des would have been in love with Chris and Drew - that was just a cop out. And at the point that he feels like he's lost her, he sobbs like a baby, proclaimes it to be the worst day of his life, and says "this didn't go at all the way he thought it would". Maybe because he thought he could walk away and move on. But apparently he can't. So yeah, i think he loves her!

I haven't seen anyone really talk about this - but with his mom and sis he starts to say something like 'maybe she has doubts and questions too and she's going to tell me during the date early without having the whole date".  I thought that was odd and really showed his fear of her feelings either created in his own head or helped along by TPTB, probably both.

Awe thanks LG! This is coming from a person who initially had no interest in seeing Des pick Brooks. Not my type at all. But objectively, I do see a really romantic story between Bres. Hope it works out for them! ...and they say women are complicated. oi!

Great point. Brooks is very unassuming. I remember thinking it was odd that he told Des during their dinner in Madeira that "she didn't have to view family the same way as he did" or when he said this past episode that he was "surprised" Des loved him that much. Seems like he lost a lot of confidence after their initial date.

I sure remember that also. They were down to 3 guys and he did not know how she felt and did not want to be rejected. So his head was giving him a way out by him thinking he was not in love with her. He had blocked out his heart at that time. But when she started crying and said she loved him his heart took a jolt. That was the time he regretted breaking you with her. IMO. Then when she explains why she was conflicted his heart took another jolt and the boy was a complete mess.

Someone says love is not always fireworks, sometimes it comes softly.

Did anyone notice what he said when he pulled her to him and she was crying. He said he was sorry and then he said something else. To me he said "you don't feel like this for no reason." Do you think maybe he just realized her feelings were stronger than he thought? Then she slaps him with I love You.

Don't you all wish that we were spending this pre-FRC week sleuthing screencaps of shoes, dress color, sun shadows?????

The sleuthing is my favorite part and we got little of it this season.  

     That would be so much fun... I wonder if those fun days are gone forever ?? I remember my first season being involved with the boards and that was Ali's season. I remember Brad's second season how people sleuthed the time of day by the shadows on the ground etc ...I was amazed at the detective work ...It was absolutely awesome fun. BTW, I cried my eyes out for Chantal...Speaking of Chantal , she was due to have a baby in July, and I have never heard anything else. Wonder if it was a boy or girl ?? She stays pretty quiet.. 

I think it's good she stays out of this mess. So I guess she married that guy she met shortly after the show ended? She was really pretty I remember...as pretty or prettier than Emily.

I'm pretty sure I will be calling Des stupid on Monday when she accepts Brooks proposal (if that is what happens).  You see, like others have told their stories of love along the same lines, I too have a story to tell about the woman I am.  I once had a guy leave me, then change his mind and wanted to come back.  I had to inform that jerk that there was not a revolving door on my house or my heart and to scram!

Ironically, as I type this, The Band Perry is singing "All I wanna Be is Done!" on the Today show.  I love that song.

Great points by all!  As far as the bolded, losing confidence after the first date is certainly a running theme of contestants on the show, and the person to get the first date has never been the F1...until now, right?  The producers had to have taken notice of how extra special the date was and their instant attraction, and possibly has done even more manipulating with the first date receiver than in seasons past.  I don't know, but between what was going on with Brooks and Des (that other guys picked up on early) and what Des herself was saying about Brooks to CH, etc., they needed to do something to level the playing field so to speak and keep the show moving along.
