Zak is, he attended a private catholic grad school and his parents are active in the community church. Somebody here mentioned that Drew was too...
laugh out loud Go figure that Des would choose a non-practitioning mormon over three christians;) ps. not bashing Brooks. I am sure they had a strong connection, none-the-less.

James said that Desiree wants a Christian man, so I would suppose that Brooks and others in the Final 4 guys are Christian.

Do we know what Brooks practices or doesn't practice, what his beliefs truly are?

Mormons ARE Christians. I'm Mormon. We're as Christian as you get. The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints.

As for Brooks, who knows if he's active or not. I'm sure he lives a lot of what he was taught (practices it), but I don't know about active. He seems a lot less "stiff-necked" than Jef did. That's all I know. Which means he doesn't seems to be fighting against it so much. He doesn't seem to have as many hang-ups. Whether he's active or not, he seems like he isn't too far off. As with all Mormons, whether or not he's active, he will never be able to escape it completely. It goes deep and is a part of you. Mormons don't just live their religion once a week. They live it every day, in everything they do and are. So, if his mom was active and raised them in the church, it really is part of who he is, what he believes, how he acts, how he thinks, big time. Even the ones who are less active at the moment will continue to live some of it, because it's all good. It's good, logical, good people, good living, smart living kind of stuff.

And yes, from what I've read, his family is Mormon.

Whatever religion each guy is, practicing or not, as long as their core values they were taught about right and wrong, love of family and their god, how to live your life, how to treat others, how to contribute to society, etc., are intact, then if the love is there, if the commitment is there, they will work it out between themselves.  People can be hypocritical, people can change faiths and beliefs, people can stray from their teachings or learn new ones, keeping one's spirituality and letting others be free to express and value their own is important.  Respect and compassion for me is key.

From the few I know who are non-practicing Mormons, they still consider themselves christians, but they do not follow all the "rules" of the Mormon church. Such as they drink coffee, alcohol, etc.

Many Catholics do not follow all of the rules either (I'm Catholic, but there are teachings I don't agree with and have not followed to the letter), nor do Baptists, I would imagine this can be true of all religions for many people.

The Final One (F1) - Bachelorette 9 - Spoilers - Thread #2 - Page 12 Empty Re: The Final One (F1) - Bachelorette 9 - Spoilers - Thread #2

Post by MatchMaker Fri Jun 21, 2013 2:13 pm

I'm a follower of Jesus.  Many Protestant Christians would say that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a cult.  But it is hard to judge what is truly going on in one's heart, as to whether one actually believes in Jesus or not, and follows Him.  Some say the Catholic church is cultish.  Jesus bashed many of the Pharisees' and Sadducees' man-made rules.  Just saying that it is a matter of the heart, not unlike love.  My guess would be that it would be more of a heart concern for Des, than a rules concern.

I've been labeled as "unsaved" by my wife and her cultish church friends, just because I didn't buy into their social clique and man-made rules. Her clique of church friends tried to and actually succeeded in running my family though her.  Pretty much destroyed our family and our marriage.  Same thing happened to the next door neighbor, after his wife joined a Mormon church.  So group dynamics and man-made rules can have a huge effect, if Des does decide to marry any of these men.  But that really goes more to the matters of the heart within Des and the man Des chooses.  Back in the day, the two most important things on my list were a Christian wife and someone that is loyal.  Turns out she was loyal, just not to me.

Well I have to chime in here.  Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is NOT a cult.  I joined the Church after finding other so called organized religions not so Christ like.  We believe in Jesus as the son of our Heavenly Father.   I follow Jesus and his teaching just by saying what you have above, are you loving your neighbor, thats what Jesus taught.
