I don't know. I think we wonder about this every season, but never figure it out! Do you take someone you're more connected to to the F2 spot, or do you let them go early and take someone else who you're not as connected to and who can handle being F2?

One more thing that gives me a moment of pause...I know RS says Constantine leaving was a mutual decision based on religious beliefs, but I have to wonder if there was something more to it. Constantine and Ben were obviously really close in the house. A part of me wonders if Dino knew Ben was developing feelings for Ash, knew it wasn't there for him, and took himself out for that reason as well as the other differences.

*Ed's episode was actually the one in Spain. Jillian's season was slightly different, but it is the equivalent when the contestants went from 4-3 before the actual Fantasy Dates themselves.

I thought last night for some reason when watching that HT RC that we're seeing our F2 on the right this year. Constantine and JP. But we know from RS that Constantine takes himself out or maybe ashley sends him home so that can't be right. I wonder why JP and Ben are so far apart this season when they're rumored F2.

But did TPTB know Dino's plans at that point? It's not as though they can re-edit the lineup after the fact? Might that not also suggest Dino was not intended F2, contrary to what many of us have been saying?

When you look at the Rose ceremony pictures from a lot of seasons in the past, the F1 was on one end, and the F2 was on the other. The trick was which was which? Then for a short while at the HT RC, they had the F1 on one end, and the F3 on the other.

DeAnna told us in retropect that Graham was her intended F1. He showed up that night and was placed in the F1 position with Jesse who DeAnna said was intended to be her original F3 in the F3 position.
Graham smirked his way through which made her mad. We discussed it and discussed it.
Then she cut him, and he gave her the letter he had already written in his possession which led me to believe they told her right before the ceremony he was cutting out on her. That was why she was so mad.

They placed him in position hoping he would stay, but look how he was dressed. He was through!

The next RC, Jessee moved into F1 position....

The only problem I had with Ben's hometown was the scene when he and Julia (one very hot sister... that aloofness is quite sexy) kept looking to the floor when they were talking. Maybe it was all real and natural... and maybe they are just awkward on camera, but it did feel a little... off... as if they were reading from cue cards.

I really do like his family though, but you can see how uncomfortable she is with them. (Not that it should matter in the long run, since so many marriages have their share of mother-in-law jokes.)

I second the theory that Constantine was being positioned for Final 2 status around hometown time, if not earlier, and probably upset the applecart as Frank did with Ali in Fiji. Only Ashley won't be as dramatic as Ali was, tossing hair-flowers to the ground in rage and seeking Armchair Harrison.

Some more fun stuff to fry your brains...

This photo was supposedly taken before the rose ceremony, after Tim was carted away (photoshop add-on).

Notice how close four guys who received wedding related dates in Las Vegas and Taiwan are in this group photo. Apart from Lucas (strategically close to the other “husbands” getting wedding oriented dates), those in the second row all got group dates or 1 on 1s focused more on travel.

Yes, I know Willie was a bro-bud of Jordan, just like Ben and Blake... so yes we should consider this as a factor as well. Blake hated that he was in the same "bracket" as Ryan in regards to group dates, but guess who isn't too far away. (Oh yeah, that first impression rose was a "red herring" for the other guys.) Constantine knew he wasn't the one from the get-go simply because of how far in the back he is and Nick certainly feels like chopped liver. Bentley is exactly where you would expect a production "choice" to be..
