When a couple announces an engagement, it's just being politically correct at the very least, to welcome the new partner into the family as well as the new parents/family of the partner. This goes on with both sides.
I'm sure many of us have been there. :Biggrin:
So when you see a family who have been so involved in social media networking, say little to nothing to indicate overwhelmingly joy---it resounds. Especially when the public is scrutinizing every nuance.
I think this is where people are coming from.

I agree Kasha, Shay's known for being outspoken and vocal in her thoughts and opinions, and since the ATFR aired she's chosen to follow the old adage of "if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all" I think something has transpired over the last few months that has made Sean's family not happy with the choices he's made. I'm sure we'll eventually find out what it was, but I'm not going to be so quick as to blame them for being closed minded about Cat. I personally think that still waters run deep with Cat and maybe she's not quite as sweet as many think she is.

I guess I'm with everybody who assumed Sean's sister would be a little more vocal about her excitement. Only time will tell, but whoever runs the factory girl twitter is supportive of Sean and Catherine. They tweeted some nice things after the finale.

Here's a possibility. Yesterday Sean announced via twitter that he's got an endorsement deal with Hydroxycut, and Hydroxycut announced it on their web page. Yesterday was March 14, 3.14... Pi day.

Shay is either supporting the move or subtly sarcastically dissing it. I'm guessing that since she didn't actually mention Hydroxycut or retweet Sean's announcement tweet, that she's leaning toward the latter.

I'm only saying it because I had a lot of "Life of Pi"-style turns of phrase showing up in my FB newsfeed yesterday.

But maybe Possessionista is just on a diet.

have u guys seen this? now, i am a massive fan of sean and catherine but even i can't help but feel that there is an inkling of truth to this. even if their source is star magazine.

No need to hide under a chair, deel! I try to stay analytical, so here's what I'd say:
- The article mentions the source once, calling them "a source" and never mentions the source again. Usually some one is mentioned by name or at least by relation (like "brother of Sean" or "friend of Catherine") if there really was a credible source.
- This couple hasn't had any bad press written about them the past 4 mos, so the rags are looking for ways to make money off this couple. Most past bach couples have plenty written about them, often times even before ATFR (emiily-jeff-arie and ben-courtney, even ashley-ben-jp come to mind).
- Given the course of this season - Sean's last minute decision, Lindsay's similar bg to his own family, Cat's differing bg to his own, his parents being ministers - this is a very logical and believable story.

So I'm chalking this up as a fake. The conjecture is reasonable, but they have no credible source.

This is like the panic at the end of the season when everyone was worried that the spoilers were wrong because Cat got the last rose, because he was conflicted, because he was saying the same stock lines everyone had always said and will continue to say while this show lasts.

Sean stated in one of their interviews early on that he called his mom from Thailand and she was very supportive. In the abc interview they both say the same. His parents have been nothing but gracious and I just can't see them saying something so cruel as they want him to dump Cat because of her family history...if anything, being the kind people they seem, wouldn't it just make them embrace her even more warmly? Not buying it. I fully expect to see Shay and his parents cheering him from the audience while sitting next to Cat in the near future.

I don't read blogs but I know Shay has one that expresses her feelings as well as her day to day life. What has she said? Has she been their cheerleader?

She has been pretty neutral throughout. She's happy if Sean is happy.

How do you know that? How do you know she isn't furious/devestated that Sean didn't pick a mini-her? From what I can tell (and I admit I am not reading her blog) she did not post a huge happy welcome to the family the day after the AFTR when it counted. Obviously she now knows that people were stunned by her silence given she is never silent. She made her point loud and clear without saying a thing.

I don't know how she or their family really feels since I am not a part of the family....like I assume everyone else here? I am just stating what she has previously said. If they are upset, they are not saying anything and are keeping their feelings private...which I appriciate. They could just as easily given their congratulations to Cat and Sean in private as well. I don't know anything other than what I have read or what Sean and Cat have said. What they make of their relationship is up to them...not their families or the fans. I've given them more credit than I have any other couple coming from this show...other than Ashley and JP...hopefully the results will be the same. If not, I'm sure they will move on gracefully and find happiness elsewhere, just like their fans.

The positive thing about it is that she is just making the couple more solid about their decision to marry and do their thing. This kind of behaviour will just push that person away from you and be protective of his choice. But in the long run if she doesnt come around, it will affect Catherine and it will affect Sean. If the sister is gonna play hardball, they better be away from Dallas and just stay away for good.

What is the worst that she can say, that the wedding is too hurried, that she's not christian? , that she came from a broken home, she's probably immature or has (gasp) bipolar tendencies? Short of Catherine being an ex convict or has a secret husband, none of those reasons justify her being cold, indifferent and bordering on ungracious. Her brother is 29 freaking years old, he can do whatever he wants.
