During an interview and she was asked if she was surprised, she coldly said 'yes Im a little surprised'. That's loaded. People here are great sleuthers, you guy's collective radar is very polished. And the signs are there anyway, (not the rumors because the rumors are always half truths but about her social media silence. She's probably dying to tell the world, the reasons why she's not on board but chose the passive aggressive approach.

The positive thing about it is that she is just making the couple more solid about their decision to marry and do their thing. This kind of behaviour will just push that person away from you and be protective of his choice. But in the long run if she doesnt come around, it will affect Catherine and it will affect Sean. If the sister is gonna play hardball, they better be away from Dallas and just stay away for good.

I wish she would spill it

It will probably not make sense so silence is the best option. What is the worst that she can say, that the wedding is too hurried, that she's not christian? , that she came from a broken home, she's probably immature or has (gasp) bipolar tendencies? Short of Catherine being an ex convict or has a secret husband, none of those reasons justify her being cold, indifferent and bordering on ungracious. Her brother is 29 freaking years old, he can do whatever he wants.
I don't think it's Catherine per se, just that Catherine is different from who she expected - she probably wanted him to come home with her carbon copy or marry one of her friends, not a random girl from Seattle who doesn't eat beef.

My husband came from a very devout Christian family, generations of pastors. When I first met my mother-in-law, she told me she's not really thrilled about his choice of me, a baby Christian, and only one in my family. However, ever since we got married 19 years ago, she's been nothing but supportive, and very sweet to me, treating me like her own daughter. So, I think I kind of understand if Sean's family prefer Lindsey (she's a better fit on paper). Like us, the family is entitled to their opinion. Besides, none of them has come out saying something negative, right? I hope that when they know Sean and Catherine's are genuinely in love, not just infatuation, they will embrace Cat into their family wholeheartedly, just like my in-laws.

Is Catherine a Christian? I've never heard her talk about religion at all.

Maybe because being spiritual to her is more important than being religious. She's probably baptized catholic (just assuming cause of filipino upbringing) and grew up embracing all faiths, is a freethinker and goes to non denominational church. Remember she said, she's non traditional. But Sean and her probably talked about it at length and she agreed to embrace his faith and raise their future children to be christians.

I really dont know why theres an issue about this, God's love is all inclusive. Why would religion be so divisive specially between two people who love each other? I really hope religion is not the reason why his sister is not warm to her cause its doing the opposite of what christianity preaches.

She said in the teleconference that she has always believed in God and was raised learning about all different faiths. She also said she goes to a non-denominational church, as does Sean. I think she's open to learning more about Christianity and such. If that's the issue his family (or just Shay) appears to have with her, I would tell them to go take a flying leap.

I really think that they (maybe not all), thought he would end up with someone more like Lindsay so they were surprised. But judging by how happy he is, they might want to get used to Catherine.

Maybe in addition, Shay is worried that Sean will again veer from his faith if he's with someone more secular? If he committed to his faith "born again" only in the last several years, even though he was raised by a minister, it means he must have questioned his faith or turned to a more secular life at some point earlier in his life (maybe college)?

Plus I noticed that how Papa Jay is best friends with his son in law rather than his own son. Remember in Emily's season Papa Jay said Sean's always been a bit closed off (so he was happy to see Sean's heart open to Emily), and this season when Sean said "Catherine brings out my weird goofy side", Papa Jay replied "Son I didn't know you had a weird goofy side" (paraphrasing them both).

Either this family don't know Sean very well, or they are worried that Sean is being easily led by something he finds exciting (Catherine or fame or both). Sean's either the independent thinker of the family or the rebel of the family.

I thnk he was jesting. I believe Sean has a strong and close relationship with his father.

If I had to guess at the issue, I wouldnt think it's faith or character. I'd bet it's more concern about her family background, perceived liberal vegan lifestyle , or just her personality (much more carefree than Shay who seems very rigid and controlled). Obviously it doesnt matter to Sean. But that doesnt mean it doesnt matter to Shay, or other family members. And that can cause huge problems in a relationship. I've lived it. Best advice: live a few states away and limit the visits. The problem is that Sean is really really close to his family. On March 11, Shay tweeted:Mix and Match Mama ‏@MixandMatchMama

“@SeanLowe09: It's easy to see why I value family so much when you get a glimpse of the people I love the most. #TheBachelor” love you!

I really think that Sean has a really close relationship with his parents and sister. It is a shame that "weirdness" is causing the public to question it. Not that it should matter, but what the darn

I was simply asking if she was a Christian. scratch

Has Shay even considered that her own actions (or lack thereof) are not commensurate with a Christian existence?? Makes me sad for Sean and Catherine.

How does anyone know that Sean's family has not spoken to Catherine on the phone, or skype or text, etc, these past few days? I find it hard to believe that the family I saw treat Catherine so warmly on tv, would now turn around and shun their own son's fiancee.

Just the fact that they are Christian people, tells me that they wouldn't do that. I saw an interview with Sean's sister the other day, and she said Sean's proposal was so genuine and sincere. Knowing that her brother finally found the love of his life, should be enough for any sister. Catherine is a wonderful person, and I really don't think there is any reason why this family would not be happy for the both of them. Sean didn't get his compassion and values from nowhere, he learned that from his family.

The tabloids are going to pick them apart, like they do any other couple from this franchise, but I think Sean and Catherine are strong and in love enough to rise above all of that. Sean tweeted a picture from their engagement today and said "My love," and Catherine tweeted a picture of them arriving at GMA and said "true love." This couple will make it, that's what I believe.

It does not matter if he is a rebel or independent thinker his body language which no one cam control out vote his head. From where I am standing they are here to say and the sister better get use to that, if Sean follows the bible its leave your mom and dad and cling to your wife or something similar.
