The Bachelor 17 - Speculation/Spoilers - Discussion

'As much as he'd like to do it, Ryan does have some reservations about The Bachelor because he wouldn't have any control on how he is portrayed on the show.'

Oh they finally explained that to him? I think the $1,000,000 is his way of saving face. He can tell everyone he's worth too much to do the show for peanuts, and he turned them down.

RE the IQ, that should be easy.

I haven't kept up with this much, so which way is everyone leaning? I'm not even entertaining Lochte because I don't think that will ever happen. But between Sean and Arie? I just read that Roberto has a girlfriend.

I remember Ben was filming pre-season in Sonoma and SF on 8/22 and 8/25. So they have already done this or will do it soon - use your twitter searches.

If it's Arie maybe the fact that both Fleiss and Elan were in SF at the same time as Arie this past weekend is a clue. No idea. I'm actually quite looking forward to Bach 17, whether it be Arie or Sean....

I don't quite understand the fear of this happening, since skewering the contestants is completely allowed here, as we are constantly reminded. In fact, since I would imagine that there will be very few posters here, if any, who will "succumb" enough to Lochte's "charms" to actually root for him and want to defend him as a "sincere" lead, I would anticipate a season where, for once, we can all snark on him together in perfect harmony, with minimal in-fighting.

That said, I doubt he'll be the lead, for many of the reasons already mentioned.

Lochte is dancing very close to becoming a publicity whore -- as in any publicity is good publicity. Whoever is advising him better be careful because you don't want to make a joke of your product, especially in such a short time. The partying in Vegas, the grubbing for media attention, does not make him attractive to his current sponsors. They're going to have something to say about this too. And they're where the long-term money comes from.

Compare him to Phelps, the best swimmer ever, who is now officially available to do almost anything. He's quietly going about business. Lochte is a mess.

^^^Completely agree. It makes me wonder if "the offers pouring in" aren't as sweet as he anticipated after some of his initial PR misfires (the peeing stuff, one night stand rep) etc. He seems to have a case of "he's his own worst enemy" going in a way.

Pretty sure Twitter would explode if Ryan Lochte became the next Bachelor.

He'd be able to keep his name out there for quite a while if he was the lead as a springboard to bigger things afterwards. Or, it could be a fade to black disaster. I guess that's one of the reasons people would watch.

RS just posted a Bachelor update on his site. Says filming starts 9/20. He reveals the gal supposedly on the show. After seeing the stuff that he has on her there, she might be a perfect fit for Lochte as a showmance type of winner.

Ahh Kasha, my chuckle for the day. I initially knew zip about our boy Ryan as I do not folllow swimming. My female fam members and I were very taken with his physical ah, attributes. HOWEVER, in getting to see him on interviews etc, I am sad to say, beauty appears to be skin deep. If he is TB I will watch, but may turn the mute button on the tv. Heeheehee

A little from RS:

So let me get this straight. They are casting someone who openly has stated on her FB page on and Twitter that she thinks the show is stupid? In January she thinks the show is a joke, calling it “the stupidest show God created,” no one ever stays together and she hates it. Times four. #hate hate hate hate. Yet now, she’s so excited and can’t wait to be on it and is counting down the days? Uh huh. Oh yeah, she’s definitely going on this show for the right reasons. Go look at her Facebook Page. “K-Twice,” as she calls herself, is a sales rep for nutritional products, which according to Wikipedia, is basically a “pyramid scheme.” Here’s how Wikipedia describes her company, ViSalus:

“Visalus sells its product by multi-level marketing through a network of independent distributors who pay a start-up package fee to join the company’s sales force. Distributors who qualify for commissions are compensated based on sales of products and from sales made by any distributors they recruit (i.e., the “downline”). The company’s business model has been described as a pyramid scheme.[3] The company generates revenue through products sales, distributor signup up fees (which range from $49 to $999), and the sale of training and promotional materials to its distributors.”

Her facebook page is nothing but posts about her work, her products, and before and after pictures of people. She’s a salesperson. I think it’s hilarious that she’s gone from hating the show (and reality TV in general), to now being super thrilled to be on it and is telling everyone. Now, since filming is still a month away, I have no idea if all this stuff she’s posted is gonna hurt her chances or not. She definitely received the letter of acceptance and is one of the women who will be out there for head shots and interviews for the show before it starts. So I guess time will tell, but, she should know better than to blab to everyone she’s doing the show. She had to know this would get out. Hell, you know how many people emailed me after Friday telling me about that Facebook post? Lets just say more than five. She’s got like 2,000 pictures on her Facebook page, so if you don’t want to go click (or that thing gets shut down within minutes of today’s post going up), here she is. Hey, I’ll give her this. She’s very, very attractive, so I can see why they want her. If you want my opinion, I don’t think there’s a chance in hell they’ll punish her for posting that stuff. She’ll be told to take it down, and that’s about it. I fully expect she’ll be on the show. And if she’s not, she’s only got herself to blame.
