The Bachelor 17 - Speculation/Spoilers - Discussion

I get the feeling it's going to be Lochte and the seeds are being dropped here and there to set the stage. It kind of feels like a network call over MF. The story is now being pushed on HuffPo, Cosmo and chatted about via ESPN.

I reached out to the show's publicist with my incredibly urgent concern. She explained to me that they don't comment on casting rumors and speculation before it's announced to the public (Lame! They should! It would make it so much more interesting.), the next season of the show hasn't yet gone into production yet and will premiere in January, which my hopeful heart has taken to mean that there is totally a chance that Ryan Lochte could be the next Bachelor, which means there is totally a chance that our collective pro-Lochte-as-Bachelor voices can maybe, possibly tip the scales. Her last message to me read, cryptically (and [sic]),

Your welcome. I think you'll know when we make the announcement about who will be the next Bachelor. :) Thanks.
OMG it's totally going to be Ryan Lochte.

I had hopes for one of the other guys to pass the time over the winter. I don't think that I can stomach him for a whole season no matter how snark worthy.

Random tweet I saw today.

My friend said she saw Ryan Lochte at a club in Las Vegas and he was wearing all of his Olympic medals around his neck.

I don't think it's going to be Lochte. I wonder if his publicist is spreading the rumor. :laughingoutlou I'm sure the show loves the attention.

^^ that is such a joke if he is the next bachelor. The guy sounds like an idiot and further I've seen some of the pics where he's out partying at the different clubs with all kinds of hanger on types. This show is already a joke in many peoples opinions especially the media. Don't they need to pretend that the less at least appears to want to settle down (at least perception wise).
I will say that at least i won't be emotionally invested and could enjoy it for the train wreck that it really is.

We might need to ask for a NSFW thread to be started for those of us that won't be able to keep the snark to a minimum. I can see why they'd want him though, the guy would be so malleable and they would make him look like such an idiot. MF would love it!

Wonder what his sponsors think of him becoming the bachelor. I really can't see him making it to Rio.

I just can't see Lochte happening. It's a lose/lose situation for him and if I were his agent, I'd tell him that. It ties him up for TWO MONTHS. There's no way a guy like him wants to be tied up for that period of time. He's got so much going on and he's just going to be stuck, at the mercy of the Bachelor producers. He can't do any appearances, no commercial shoots. He makes more on one commercial shoot than he'd ever make on the Bachelor and it takes him an afternoon of shooting. This is all just PR to cover up for the fact that he's a complete horndog and his mother admitted it in the press. So they're putting the story out there that Ryan really wants to settle down and find a girlfriend and get married. It's a great story, but he would be a fool to even think about doing it. Plus if he comes off looking bad, it will sour his sponsors and his fans. Lose/lose. There is absolutely no upside to him doing the Bachelor.

Agreed. The only reason it was brought up and the only reason it hasn't been completely shut down by TPTB is that keeps The Bachelor in the news and it keeps people talking. RL has so many other opportunities right now - ones that make a lot more sense for him and are wayyy more profitable. I can pretty much guarantee that he will not be the next Bachelor.

I don't care who the next bachelor is, as I've always preferred watching the bachelorette over the bachelor anyway. Prefer hot guy eye candy to women making fools over themselves to get the 'bachelor's' attention. jmo

So I have no horse in the race, but Lochte has over one million followers on twitter. If MF can get him, he will, but I doubt Lochte will do it. He'd rather be on DWTS I think. The snark will be off the charts if somehow Lochte is the bachelor.

I agree. MF has wanted a professional athlete forever. A real one, Jesse Palmer doesn't count.

Would Arie be counted as a pro athlete, or doesn't he count race car drivers??

The problem with getting a pro athlete is that his shooting schedule doesn't permit it. It's in the middle of NFL season, the beginning of NBA season and NHL season, the end of MLS soccer, and the end of MLB season. He either has to get someone retired or seriously injured. An Olympian is just about the only kind of athlete he might be able to get. Still, Lochte won't do it.
