I thought Kate looked gorg. Was it just me or did anyone else think she got a little teary eyed watching Britain parade in?

My bf taped the USA swim team making a silly video to "Call Me Maybe", he hates that song, but knows I love it. It was so cute.
Watched the archery guys get their silver metals, and I am a longhorn for life, but why are the US jackets, butt ugly UT orange?

Bean, Bond, and Beckham!!!
Seeing all that activity going on on the floor of the huge new Olympic stadium was amazing.
While watching the part with all those many nurses caring for sick children, I was thinking, "How do they manage to get all those beds and scenery off of the "stage" so fast to make room for the rest of the ceremony?
That's a fine art in itself.
My very favorite part was James Bond fetching the Queen at Buckingham Palace, the adorable corgis, and the Queen parachuting into the stadium. Matt Lauer remarked, "Are you kidding me??"
Then seeing the real arrival of the Queen with Prince Philip - taking their seats in the stadium - was great!
I also loved the torch ceremony, Paul McCartney singing "Hey Jude", and the fireworks at the end.

I like the Summer Olympics, but the Winter Olympics are my favorite.
I'm a huge figure skating fan.
I remember the Golden Years and popularity of figure skating with my all-time favorites - Alexei Urmanov, Alexei Yagudin, Yevgeny Pliushenko, Irina Slutskaya - all Olympians and, except for Slutskaya, Olympic Champions.
My favorite among the current eligible skaters is Jeremy Abbott - and also Yevgeny Pliushenko, who is trying for a comeback at the Soshi, Russia, Olympics in 2014.
Yay, another figure skating fan. I can't wait to watch the Winter Olympics with you. My current faves are Daisuke Takahashi, Mao Asada and Jeremy Abbott.
I'm sad that I can't watch the Olympics on nbcolympics.com because I don't have cable
Hi Arcuel!
Yes! We can watch the next Winter Olympics together.
I'm sure there will be a thread later on here.
Yes, Daisuke Takahashi is amazing, as is Mao Asada, and so lyrical and graceful.
I'm so sorry that her mother passed away recently.
Jeremy Abbott is the whole package for me.
Not to mention that he's so cute - LOL - He combines artistic expression and lyricism with technical ability and athleticism so beautifully and completely.
Jeremy sometimes has a "head" problem though, you know.
He seems to do just fine when it comes to US competitions, but in international competitions, Jeremy sometimes "chokes" and messes up on elements that he routinely does with no problems, or misses difficult technical elements that are normally not hard for him, that he has mastered.
I believe that Jeremy needs to see a sports psychologist regularly and conquer his fears - because he is certainly capable of achieving it all.
I'm glad that, hopefully, baring injury, Yevgeny Pliushenko is coming back for Sochi, in his homeland.
IMO, Yevgeny is perhaps the greatest figure skater of all time, and it's a real treat to see him continuing his competitive career.
He does feel that he was "cheated" for a second Gold at the Vancouver Olympics, and if he gets his "revenge" and another Gold the next time, I applaud him for his great skills, tenacity, and courage.
Of course, I want Jeremy to do well too.
And I'm so glad that Carolina Kostner, the current World Champion, is staying in for Sochi! What a beautiful skater! She's in her prime now at age 25 - and I feel she will continue to be!
But all those teenage Russian "jumping beans" will be a little older at the next Winter Olympics, and are hot on her heels!
Still, staying competitive is a wonderful option for Carolina.
And I wish the best for Mao Asada too!

Yes! And I hope that there won't be requests for Ryan to be the next "Bachelor" - LOL. :P
Of course, Ryan is doing just fine. He doesn't need it.
I'm really looking forward to the "duels in the pool" between Ryan and Michael Phelps!
I do want Michael to achieve his goal of being the most decorated Olympian in history and, besides that, I'm for both of them - LOL.

Just watched the sweetest, a very cute story of a male gymnast from Ireland who over came really devastating injuries to compete in the Olympics. He made mistakes but was just so happy to be there. Stories like that are why I love the Olympics.

Ryan is looking good. Phew... I like his hair shorter.
I'm with Mozart that I would love to see Michael make history but I want to see Ryan succeed too. I get the feeling from all of the interviews and sponsorships that he worked a little harder to train for this year then Michael. In Micheal's mind he is on his way out. He barely qualified for tonight! C'mon buddy!

I saw that! Broke my heart. I was so sad when he fumbled but so glad he got to finally live his dream and overcome his odds. *sigh* why can't they give points for adorable-ness. He paid his own way there!
