The ceremonies may have been a little boring but I've still watched every minute of them. I guess I'm just an Olympic addict. I thought the lighting of the cauldron was really cool and powerful. And a lot of the music kept my interest which is always good. And like others have mentioned, Beckham is still d@mn good looking.

ITA! The cauldron lighting was the best I have ever seen. So, so, cool.
I'm still singing Hey Jude. I got all emotional seeing one of the Beatles preforming live. That was first for me -sad I know.

I watched the ceremony on both the Canadian channel and NBC. CTV cut a lot of it out, and the commentators talked a lot less than the American commentators.
For the most part I enjoyed it. I loved seeing all the different outfits for the different countries. I was thinking MF was probably watching thinking of what locations to have his next TB film at. BTW....I loved the American outfits, but hated the Canadian's outfits....they were so boring. How am I supposed to cheer for someone wearing those.
Favourite parts...Mr. Bean, The Queen's entrance...loved her Corgi's. Fireworks and the music were great. I am an Olympic addict, so happy to have something besides Jem's love story to obsess over. Thanks
Karey

I like the Summer Olympics, but the Winter Olympics are my favorite.
I'm a huge figure skating fan.
I remember the Golden Years and popularity of figure skating with my all-time favorites - Alexei Urmanov, Alexei Yagudin, Yevgeny Pliushenko, Irina Slutskaya - all Olympians and, except for Slutskaya, Olympic Champions.
My favorite among the current eligible skaters is Jeremy Abbott - and also Yevgeny Pliushenko, who is trying for a comeback at the Soshi, Russia, Olympics in 2014.
Yay, another figure skating fan. I can't wait to watch the Winter Olympics with you. My current faves are Daisuke Takahashi, Mao Asada and Jeremy Abbott.
I'm sad that I can't watch the Olympics on nbcolympics.com because I don't have cable

I loved the opening ceremonies although we f/f through a lot of the athletes walking in. I know it wasn't exciting but I appreciated them going through the history and loved the forging of the Olympic ring. My favorite parts were Mr Bean and the Queen & Bond. We missed the whole Queen video the first time so had to go back to see it at the end. I loved it. She's a good sport. :laughingoutlou
Loved the music last night, especially the 70's (yes, that dates me). Paul McCartney was pretty good and really liked the Come Together cover by the Arctic Monkeys. It's on iTunes so will buy it.

I liked the opening ceremony. It was a little funky, but it would have been hard to compete with Beijing, so I was glad they took a separate approach. We were texting our good friend from England the whole time with questions. I love the olympics, the road race was already exciting this morning.

I really like Danny Boyle who put it all together so even though it took me awhile to get into the show, I ended up really enjoying it. Of course the Queen and Bond were such a hoot. I like history so the Industrial Revolution and digital age scenarios were good for me. I have to say though that this year as usual, I love the parade of nations. It always gives me goosebumps and, for whatever reason, HOPE for our future...that and the fashion LOL And while I didn't like that the outfits were not USA made, I love Ralph Lauren clothing and thought they were very chic. I was in tears by the end watching what a great and good looking bunch of atheletes we all have.
