thanks for the info

I think they just meant that the mom had fully custody before, but now it's split.bing2262 wrote:ang8678 wrote:Not exactly...she just gave him custody in December, he just had visitations prior to that. I wonder how he will ever move with the mom and family in WA, unless he leaves him behind?
Was the custody issue resolved amicably or was it acrimonious? Why would the son's mom surrender custody of her son? Is she not financially, emotionally ,physically able to support her son?

whatever it is, i think that the mother made the right decision to involve the father more.

Shelby wrote:The fact that she was not in good terms with the mother. To have a kid by accident is far from easy. If doug did not want to marry her but was ready to share his responsibilities. I am sure the mother was bitter. who would not? Being a single young mother and no man on her side? Hard to cope for sure. understandable. So what, marry the girl like in the 50s and divorce 10 years later and have a very miserable life at home not showing love in front of the kid? would that be better than refusing to marry the mother? Making love takes 2 people and making sure that the guy is wearing a condom goes both sides.
If the child was conceived as a result of a one night stand, I doubt either one of them wanted to marry the other. Maybe there was some bitterness or blame between them as to how the accident happened? Although obviously each one is no doubt happy now to have a son, I could still see why, particularly if they barely knew each other at the time, and if initially the mother didn't want him or trust him fully to be involved in the child's life, there would be a lot of animosity on both sides. It's unfortunate, and I do think it would make it more complicated and difficult for him to work out a successful relationship with a single mom whose roots and ties are on the other side of the country from his.

With the couples I know who share children who do not co-habitate, all disagreements and bitterness always center around money. The one who does not have it, always wants more and more is NEVER enough.

I have a small bit of experience with the out of state child / parent thing.
We live in GA, but my husband's son lives in FL. He moved to be with me and get married (I also have a son, and then we have one together). We try very hard to have him visit his son as much as possible. We have recently been caught with unemployment and money issues, so the visitation has fallen off some, but we still attempt it as much as possible. He also visits us for 4-6 weeks in the summer, plus a week or 2 at Christmas, etc.
So, it is possible to stay a part of the child's life if he moves, but in Emily's situation she could move if she so chooses. I could not b/c of my child's father

Custody and where you live can also be decided by the court .. As what is in the best interest of the child

OAT, I was looking thru what RS had to say about yeserdays group date. He seemed to mention the that were there. I did not see where he mentioned Doug. Does anyone think he could be the second 1:1 date?

He still could have been one of the 13 there.

I was not a big fan of emily on brad,s season but I think it will be interesting to see all those males just fighting for her.
Personally I do not see the physical attraction. Yes she is pretty but for me beautiful means Chantal. Emily is a false blond, has huge teeth and unless she corrected herself used "you know" on each sentence. She knows how to use her smooth voice, her ego must be as big as the empire state building with fleiss and all the magazine putting her on a pedestal and if she is still humble, then I think she could be the exception of the rule.
Am I happy to see her as the next bachelorette? not particulary. But I am not unhappy either. I think again it will be interesting to see all those males completely nuts about her. Do I find her smart? no. Do I find her pretty? sometimes. Am I dying to watch her? no. Am I looking for the hunks? definitely!
Since she is no angel and we all found out that after the finale with brad when she rebelled about how the edits portrayed her. I am very curious to see if she is going to be boring or if she will show a funny personality. So far I saw her very very cold and not at all touchy-touchy so I am curious to see how she will handle all those guys wanting to kiss her. And that is why I am happy to watch her. It will be interesting to dissect the physical attitude. I think I was not at all attracted when she let ABC to use nascar to portray her as the sad sad lonely widow looking for love again with this huuuuuge fake group date.
Regarding the culture, I think that a lot of american never went out of their own state. I used to work for a huge well known american company in europe. I was in charge of the expatriates and met hundred of them... some asked me if we were using toilet paper in france (well DUH of course not we use newspaper!!!) and it was very serious not at all a joke... some told me that they spent hours to figure it out how to put a coin in the grocery caddy which is very common to avoid them stolen (you just put a coin on top of the chain and the caddy is free to go)... you would not believe the questions I was asked and they were all pretty candid...
I sure do not want to criticize american only... I am sure the same number of canadian never went out of their state either. My meaning is that with the era of internet, I do not find it an excuse to do not try to learn outside of the box. no need to have degrees to be cultured. everyone can go to the library or internet and read. period.
Emily did not impressed me but again the edits were so huge on her that she looked the perfect dumb blonde. I cannot say that Chantal was better really. Her tears were tiring after a while but I liked her better physically. But for emily's defense, she was loved by all the girls in the mansion so that must means something.
This show does not show them smart. No matter if you are the bachelor/ette or the guests. they show us some dumb conversation or dramas. so it is part of the evil deal to watch reality TV.
I would understand to be warry to eat in thailand as they eat bugs but I am almost positive that in each mansion, they do have american food available. Do they have some tourist book of the country available since they do not have internet access? I sure hope so.
So emily? why not. It should be interesting and since I really love hunks, I will be happy.
go go go Doug!
Completely agree, Shelby. The bachelors must be compelling for this season to work. Emily will not be able to carry the show.
Woot, woot for Doug!
While it is true that Emily is not the almost white blond that you see, Emily nevertheless is a blond. In no way can she be called a brunette. None of her younger pictures show her with brown hair. It is a darker blond.
Even without a lot of make-up, Emily has a natural beauty. Of course, her accent doesn't bother me because I don't notice it. Where I live, the Southern accent might be worse because it is further South, but I agree that the "you knows" by any speaker tend to get annoying to someone listening. However, I have noticed that in ordinary typical speaking, most people tend to either say "you know" or "uh" because it is harder to co-ordinate the way you think with the actual way you speak than you imagine until you actually think about it. Practiced speakers have learned to avoid those pitfalls by very concerted effort.

i was very wary of ashley and her tongue brushing her teeth all the time... turned out that she did less of it on her own season. I prefer brunettes but ashley at the WTA was horrible... on her season way better
emily dyed her hair yellow with brad, it was ugly... and sorry to say that her top teeth are too big. i find her pretty but I am baffled to see all the males drawing in their own saliva.
natural is my way of beauty....
but I like her very ladylike attitude...... i am totally tired of bitches........ It bothered me that she was never loose on brad' season so i hope it will be all different on her season which looks very much like it seeing the vids
