He's cute but did they say Wharton? Emily is as cute as she can be but I cannot see her in certain circles - definitely not in a circle of Wharton grads. Yes, I think she needs a somewhat older, established southern guy who doesn't need a partner but more of an arm doll he can buy nice things for but not expect her to say much. Her southern charm might not fit in so well in the Pacific NW with women who work at big companies like Microsoft, Starbucks and Amazon.

Yes Emily did not/has not gone to college, but that does not make her dumb or stupid. I'm sure she has been around college educated people or people who work at big companies and can have a conversation with them.

Emily had her real estate license at one point but I think it was in TN. Which would be a good thing for her to go back to IMO because it's very flexible and it's something she could easily do no matter which state she decides to move to. I don't find her dumb AT ALL. She reminds me of Jessica Simpson a little bit. One who plays dumb on TV but has almost a billion dollar industry marketing everything from clothing to perfume to shoes. The girl is business savvy and no 4 years of college is going to teach anyone that.

I am warming up to the idea of Doug and Seattle (Seattle being the only thing that made me leery of him). I am sure she would do fine there. There has to be some stay at home moms somewhere in Seattle that she can bond with. We live in an area where typically both parents work. I don't encounter the power suit wearers to often as I have bonded with the mom's at my kids preschool who sell Stella & Dot and still "stay home".

Well, it's too early for any favorites. We haven't seen any of them in action and, based on how the season goes, the ones we like now may or may not get a good edit. Even TPTB don't know who's going to get thrown under the bus and who is going to be the 'hero' yet. Sometimes they don't know until they start splicing things together.

Emily doesn't have a co-parent but she does have family and the 'in-laws.' No matter who she picks, if she picks, I think she should take her time before uprooting her child to be with her chosen.

I was not a big fan of emily on brad,s season but I think it will be interesting to see all those males just fighting for her.

Personally I do not see the physical attraction. Yes she is pretty but for me beautiful means Chantal. Emily is a false blond, has huge teeth and unless she corrected herself used "you know" on each sentence. She knows how to use her smooth voice, her ego must be as big as the empire state building with fleiss and all the magazine putting her on a pedestal and if she is still humble, then I think she could be the exception of the rule.

Am I happy to see her as the next bachelorette? not particulary. But I am not unhappy either. I think again it will be interesting to see all those males completely nuts about her. Do I find her smart? no. Do I find her pretty? sometimes. Am I dying to watch her? no. Am I looking for the hunks? definitely!

Since she is no angel and we all found out that after the finale with brad when she rebelled about how the edits portrayed her. I am very curious to see if she is going to be boring or if she will show a funny personality. So far I saw her very very cold and not at all touchy-touchy so I am curious to see how she will handle all those guys wanting to kiss her. And that is why I am happy to watch her. It will be interesting to dissect the physical attitude. I think I was not at all attracted when she let ABC to use nascar to portray her as the sad sad lonely widow looking for love again with this huuuuuge fake group date.

Regarding the culture, I think that a lot of american never went out of their own state. I used to work for a huge well known american company in europe. I was in charge of the expatriates and met hundred of them... some asked me if we were using toilet paper in france (well DUH of course not we use newspaper!!!) and it was very serious not at all a joke... some told me that they spent hours to figure it out how to put a coin in the grocery caddy which is very common to avoid them stolen (you just put a coin on top of the chain and the caddy is free to go)... you would not believe the questions I was asked and they were all pretty candid...

I sure do not want to criticize american only... I am sure the same number of canadian never went out of their state either. My meaning is that with the era of internet, I do not find it an excuse to do not try to learn outside of the box. no need to have degrees to be cultured. everyone can go to the library or internet and read. period.

Emily did not impressed me but again the edits were so huge on her that she looked the perfect dumb blonde. I cannot say that Chantal was better really. Her tears were tiring after a while but I liked her better physically. But for emily's defense, she was loved by all the girls in the mansion so that must means something.

This show does not show them smart. No matter if you are the bachelor/ette or the guests. they show us some dumb conversation or dramas. so it is part of the evil deal to watch reality TV.

I would understand to be warry to eat in thailand as they eat bugs but I am almost positive that in each mansion, they do have american food available. Do they have some tourist book of the country available since they do not have internet access? I sure hope so.

So emily? why not. It should be interesting and since I really love hunks, I will be happy.

Completely agree, Shelby. The bachelors must be compelling for this season to work. Emily will not be able to carry the show.

I noticed the same thing. A younger more clean shaven Brad look-alike but definitely a Brad look alike. I too am an unapologetic Emily fan and I hope she finds true love this season.

Has it been found out if he is divorced or widowed? If it is him it could be an even sadder story if he lost his wife. Just speculation,though.

From what I can find out ... and most of it is extrapolated from very little info ....

I think there is a possibility that he was never married. I think Austin lives with his mother in Spokane.

I think Doug has a younger sister (Melinda) who lives in CA, and perhaps another sister (Faye).

Doug was raised by his grandfather who just died (Douglas L) and grandmother (Faye A). The grandpaents own a big house in NE Tacoma. They had 7 children, two of whom have died. I assume one of them who died is Doug's father, whom I think died in 1980.
There were 12 grandchildren, so Doug & his sister have 9 or 10 cousins. Amongst the cousins, there are 7 great grand kids, of whom Austin is one. BIG family.

I think the family is Catholic, and I assume that Doug and his sister went to the local Catholic HS.

Regardless of specific religion, I am thinking that Emily will be more attracted to someone who is very strong in their faith. A person educated in Catholic schools through HS would surely have this foundation. :Smiley:

It's reasonable to presume that she will once again take her time establishing a solid relationship with her F1 before moving - if a move is necessary. This will lead some viewers to insist that the relationship is in tatters or that Emily isn't serious about the relationship, etc. :halo:
