I think Doug will become a fan favorite this season. Would he want to become the next Bachelor if they asked him to do it?

Do you think the producers would see him as a viable prospect given his similarities (at least in demographics including living in the same city!) to Jason?

If he becomes a fan favorite then I don't think the similarities to Jason would be a deal breaker. They actually might be a huge positive considering Jason and Molly are happily married now. Hugesmile

I haven't read most of this thread, but did Doug show up for that May 3rd event that was scheduled? I know it was discussed that if he made it to the final 2 or 3, we would know it if he didn't show up May 3rd.

ETA: Doug was my favorite from the first time I saw that pic of him and his son. I just knew he would be perfect for Emily. As far as being the next Bachelor, if the boy had TWO 1 on 1 dates with Emily and didn't kiss her, then I don't think he has any chance of being the lead. This show is about making out! rotfl

From what we heard, that is why she sent him home because he wouldn't make out with her. I bet he has major regrets right now. I just think he was shy and was uncomfortable with the cameras and that was his down fall.

Star must have an article about Doug's past. I take all articles with a grain of salt, but it appears they found police records to substantiate this one. This makes me very sad.

Emily Maynard's eligible suitors on The Bachelorette are a diverse bunch — you know, male models, race car drivers, insurance salesmen, and the occasional felon. Meet Doug Clerget, a seemingly sweet-as-pie real estate agent from Seattle who's hiding quite the nefarious past.

Doug was first arrested back in the ‘90s for petty theft, but charges were dropped because he was a PYT who didn't know better. Only after that did things start getting really iffy....

On December 10th, 2000, Doug was booked for assaulting his baby mama with a weapon! According to the police report obtained by Star Magazine, their argument "got physical when he pushed her and held her against the wall," and the situation spiraled out of control when Doug grabbed a shotgun, meandered out into the backyard and started firing into the dirt. Oh, reality stars.

Apparently, Doug was just trying to "scare" his girlfriend, but she thought he had committed suicide and had her mom call the police. To make matters worse, her mom claimed that Doug "physically abused [her daughter] in the past."

Dougy was arrested on a gross misdemeanor charge for reckless endangerment, and after spending the night in jail he completed a court-ordered rehab program and his charges were dropped. Nowadays, Doug claims he's a changed man, but we can't help thinking Emily might be better off saving her flower for another guy. And we mean that in more ways than one.

It's Doug and based on Star reporting from police records I'm guessing there's something to it though it's also very likely Star is reporting a sensationalized version of it. It basically involves a very heated argument Doug got into with his then-girlfriend/mother of his child and him firing a shotgun into the ground as a scare tactic. The thing is that Star contacted the mother of the mother of his child about this and she told them it was nothing so whatever happened was resolved.

Oh well, he is still good to look at. Maybe he is a changed man. I guess it's good that Emily didn't choose him.

I too would say it's a good thing that she didn't choose him. Anything involving a weapon concerns me greatly. Scary.

wow so this is not all made up then? scary indeed. Never thought Doug would have this kinda past given all the charity work he's doing right now. Hope he's a changed man and more matured now
