Without child?

Practically speaking, how soon would that happen? If he's willing to pick up immediately and move there, get his own place and transfer his business (is this even feasible? I don't know what he does), before they even know if the relationship has legs, I'm not sure if that's wise. And presuming that his child will be remaining in WA, what kind of a parent would willingly move across the country, and how much time will he get to realistically spend with his child then? And would Emily as a parent herself knowingly even want him to do that? This scenario IMO would just be so fraught with complications from the getgo (way more than Emily and Brad's was, and that had enough of its own) that unless the two fancy themselves the next Romeo and Juliet, I just can't see it being worth it to try making such a complicated situation work, when push comes to shove.

This one is just so fraught with complications....

Here's my hope that Emily really thought this through. That she was 100% sure of giving the best chance to any relationship that made it through to the end of this journey. If not, she had no business leading 25 men on. In otherwords, I hope that Emily was willing to uproot both herself and her child even prior to deciding to go on this season. She will be wasting everyones time if not.
Regardless of her intents, I also hope that she sends the single dads packing and not lead them on like DeAnna / Jason. I doubt tptb will have zoned in on another single dad as the next Bachelor.

She may be willing to uproot herself and Ricki, but that doesn't necessarily mean that she would move anywhere. And WA is pretty much about as far away from Charlotte as she could get, save Alaska or Hawaii, so I can't blame her if she weighs that as a negative, vs a guy who lives only a state or two away. That said, I agree that as a parent, Emily should be particularly sensitive to not keeping another parent away from his child any longer than necessary if she doesn't realistically see a future with him, but there are always other factors involved in this, such as how her chemistry and comfort level with Doug is vs the other guys, what Doug has told her about his situation and his flexibility regarding moving, how invested Doug himself really is in the relationship, and the possible influence of the producers regarding keeping Doug around.

If nothing else, Doug is nice to look at; the producers might well have had a say in keeping Doug around as well. It appears to me that they went to extra measures to get men who were neutral to the idea of a single mother (including single dads themselves) and body builders/guys with good physiques. I think they wanted to keep these guys around for a while for the general sake of the show. It makes it look pretty.

Good points above on the perceived logistical 'logic' of a relationship...but way presumptive to speculate on Doug's and Emily's interaction/future or any of the guys, for that matter...haven't even seen them on the tv screen yet....but I get it...all speculation! JMHO!

Just found this website and joined. Wow! I didn't realize how many people were fans of the show!
I've known Doug and his family for a while so I'm excited to see how the season goes. I must say, Doug really is a special kind of guy. Generous, soft-spoken, wonderful with kids (treats my daughter like a princess) and is one of the most fair, loyal, gentlemanly people I know. He's had his share of pain and loss, more than most in fact. He's also had his share of relationship ups and downs. I can't speak as a total insider or anything, but from what I know, his relationship with Austin's mother has been difficult for years. I understand she is married now with younger kids and that might have played a role in her giving him custody of Austin. I'm sure, given the fact they were not married, he never had custody rights even though he may have wanted them. He's always been involved with his son's life, both emotionally and financially. I heard rumors that he even gave up a promising future playing rugby when he found out she was pregnant. Again, I can't vouch for all the details of their history, but I can say that Doug is a smart, handsome, engaging and good person. He deserves a bit of luck with love. Maybe he'll find it here!
