I'm not on Team Ryan or Team Doug, but just think it's strange that everyone is putting him so up there cause he has a kid.. logic just doesn't make sense. TBH, if I'm in Emily's shoes, i wouldn't pick someone with a kid, just too complicated and too many things involved unless that guy is hundreds of miles ahead of everyone else.
Molly never had a kid herself, but she's so good to Jason's kid and they get along just fine.
I totally agree with the bolded. I think that both Ryan and Doug could be devoting fathers to Ricki, but does Ryan's inexperience and Doug's son outweight actually being Ricki's step-father?
I think none of us know excacly and until Emily addresses this issue, it is fun to speculate!

One of the things I recall Emily saying to Brad numerous times was that she didn't think he understood what it was like to have a child since he didn't have one. (Actually, she asked him several times whether he really understood.) So I would expect that she assumes a level of understanding with those guys who do have one.

If Emily isn't serious about Doug, I would bet she lets him go before HTD's for the simple fact that he is a father. Or of course unless TP want him for the next Bachelor as they did Jason. She has said that if she wasn't feeling it for Brad she would have left instead of being away from Ricki, having gone through the situation herself, I would think she would give Doug the same consideration.

I want to see Emily and Doug actually interact. To be honest, I am somewhat basing my opinion on the still photo we have of Doug and Emily on their date in Bermuda. Maybe that isn't fair. Whereas, we have video footage of Emily enjoying herself on her dates with both Chris and Ryan. So it is easy to pencil them into her F4.

A couple of things to remember here - and we are still just speculating.... we have a video of Ryan surrounded by a group of kids, and he is spending a great deal of his own time working with someone else's kids and testifying to those kids as to what he did wrong in his life and how he has gotten his life straightened out now.
It's expected of you to spend time with your own kids, but it is a sacrifice to pour yourself and your time into other people's kids.
We see Ali's F1 Roberto doing just that out in San Diego, and it shows his character.
Doug has to be an excellent choice, or I personally don't think he would have that Ep. 4 one-on-one date slot. Although those two dates went to Rachel and Jennifer last season, typically the Ep. 4 dates are held by someone in the F4 which signifies that person is held in high esteem by the lead and producers. (F3 Amanda, F1 Jesse, F2 Molly, F2 Kip, F3 Gia, F2 Chris, F2 Chantal, F3 Dino, F4 Ames).
However, something that I have to question is Doug's proximity to Emily. Unless Emily is totally swept off her feet by Doug, I have to wonder if she will shy away from the fact that Doug lives totally across the country in Washington State.
To begin with she was not in love with him, and she might have taken where he lives ( Northwest coast) in relation to where she lives (Southeast coast) and decided to keep proximity and common sense in mind.
Those kinds of issues are extremely thorny to deal with, and Emily already went through some of the distance issues with Brad. I just wonder if any of that crossed her mind when she considered some of the guys.

Putting aside his son for a second, Doug's jobs seem transferable. His charity is an internet based one and he can probably handle most of his responsibilities via computer. And there are always good jobs for talented corporate RE people. What I don't recall is if he shares custody with his ex? That might mean he won't be able to relocate...or won't want to. I keep remembering how we all thought that Roberto would never relocate because he had waited for his new office, etc.,...then we got the inside word that he was moving to SD. (That sure was an exciting time for us Roberto fans!)

Not exactly...she just gave him custody in December, he just had visitations prior to that. I wonder how he will ever move with the mom and family in WA, unless he leaves him behind?

Doug does seem like a sweetie... looking forward to seeing them interact. Actually many of the guys seem like really great men, lucky girl! But if Emily falls madly in love with Doug, location won't matter, if it was meant to be, all will work itself out!

Logistically, there is a problem for Emily as well. Although she did move to Nashville, Tn once and took Ricki from all of Rick Henderson's family, the driving distance from Nashville to Charlotte is 552 miles which is doable whereas the flying distance from Washington state to North Carolina is 2,272 miles. That is a different scenario altogether.
