The Bachelor 17 - Speculation/Spoilers - Discussion

Well, I hate to sound like a spoiled brat, but if it is not Arie I will have no reason to watch this coming season.

I know I'm bad, but the most interesting thing about Roberto being the Bachelor would be to see how Ali handled it publicly.

I'd actually be happy with any of the three (all better than the past few seasons by a mile IMO), but probably would like to see Roberto or Arie the most, for entirely different reasons.

I used to be the biggest Ali fan, but, honestly, the way that she used their breakup for a tabloid cover story just shows me that fame and money are her main focus right now. I'm pretty sure if Roberto was the Bachelor, she would use it as a way to get attention.

Also, I felt like Sean was a little too boring last season, but his tweets make me think it might just have been his edit.

If they could use Roberto's looks and romance and Aries sense of humour. I would be a happy camper.

I am sure Roberto, Arie or Sean would be great. If i had to pick one, I think Roberto would edge out Arie by a tiny margin.

So this means it will be Sean.

I wouldn't want Roberto as the next lead for the same reason I didn't want Emily to get her own season. They were both F1 and got their happy ending on the show. They were not rejected on the show and to me that's what makes me root for the next lead..watch him get his happy ending too.
Honestly, I like both Arie and Sean but I'm only interested in watching Arie's quest for love. I have no problem skipping a whole season. I've done so for both Jake and Ben, because they just didn't appeal to me.

I knowwww...this is like during Jillian's season, when the names being thrown around were Reid/Kip/Jake. I had a 67% chance of being happy about the lead, and it ended up being boring, cheesy Jake. I feel like it'll be the same this year (not that Sean's 1/1000th as bad as Jake, but I just would prefer someone else).

As an aside, the fact that Roberto has remained/became such good friends with people from Bachelor nation and Natalie Getz's remark that he would be the first bachelor in recent history to have both the looks and personality shows me that he probably is a lot funnier and interesting than his edit showed.

IMO The most interesting thing about Roberto being the Bachelor could turn out to be the cast they select for him. Would it be a more racially/ethnically set of ladies? Would the current TB fanbase still be as interested in watching TB if that were the case? Would they attract a larger viewing audience, or a different demographic, possibly one that's more coveted by advertisers? What if Roberto's taste in women is actually not so "diverse", but they set up the cast to be diverse anyways?

Interesting situation to ponder. Given the ratings have been down the past few seasons, perhaps the franchise needs to be shaken up a bit. (Having said that, I like all 3 guys.)

I'm curious about all this too. I heard something about Roberto maybe getting threats or negative messages about his race when he was named the Bachelor - I would hate for anything like that to continue.

Also, I know that Roberto's ex-girlfriend before Ali was Latina, so maybe he does have relatively diverse taste and they will cast a few Latinas. But, I really can't see the final couple both being minorities (I feel that TPTB would feel like that would be too off putting for their largely white audience), so would that mean that there would be a lot more producer manipulation in terms of the final girls? I don't know, but i think it would be very interesting.

And, I agree with shaking it up, but I think Jake is considered one of the best past Bachelors (ratings), and he was pretty much as cookie cutter as they get. In fact, Ben was probably more of a risk than anything (not conventionally good looking, goofy, dirty humor), and it totally backfired.

Watch if Roberto is TB, she'll publicly chase Arie. Would it be out of spite or geneuine interest tho?

I will still watch, but won't be emotionally invested whatsoever if the next Bachelor is anyone other then Arie.
